    Thanks for the info and tech Doc. I installed an S&S pump and plate into my 2019 FLTRX 107 along with their 465 cam and bearing. Couldn’t be happier. Sounds like Harley engineers are learning a thing or two from the aftermarket. And hats off to S&S for making such premium products to us. My bike is my baby and I want only the best inside her engine cases.

      John I own a 2019 107 and installed S&S’s pump and cam plate along with their 465 camshaft. I heard the stories about oil sumping before I even bought my bike and I made sure I was going to do what I can to prevent that. You have a monster 117 and I would for sure do a pump upgrade. The larger these motors get and with limited crankcase venting due to the EPA these motors throw oil all around the crankcase and have trouble scavenging. The S&S pump has dual scavenge 8 lug rotors and is made of premium billet aluminum with internal filters. It’s a really awesome piece. Produces higher volume and pressure also which in my opinion could help oil cooling as its moving more oil than stock.

    Great information, I recently had a dealership tell me it was only the 2017 that was affected and that any bike being sold at their dealership would have already had it done due to a recall/service bulletin. I was surprised and almost impressed but had my doubts because it conflicted with other information I had already researched about this known problem. Oil Pump works just fine on my Ivanized Voyager. No engine disassembly to make it reliable required ! 😎

    So this is the 3rd or 4th change in oil pumps? Between bodies, covers and lobes, but harley won't issue a service recall admitting a manufacturing error. I had a stage 4 kit installed on my 2019 at time of purchase and bought the extended warranty, so I can bash the hell out of the motor and they will be the ones that have to fix it. Already have had an oil issue.

    I sure enjoy your quality videos just filled with great advice. I've been going back and watching all your videos that I missed before I subscribed. The tip on the side stand bolt may have saved my 2019 CVO Road Glide from falling off the side stand! I had noticed it would "walk forward" more that any Harley I've owned, after I watched the video I went out in the garage grabbed my 1/2 wrench and what do you know,,,,,it was FINGER TIGHT!!!!! WOW,,, I put bike on my small lift, removed the bolt and plate, looked them over closely, installed again with blue thread locker. I'll be sure to keep an eye on that bolt.

      The M8’s are having issues with oil sumping in the crankcase. And as the motors get bigger the problem gets worse. The new and aftermarket pumps have better scavenging properties to help pickup and move more oil. My bike has premium S&S components inside her motor.

    I guess what I struggle to understand is, HD have made several editions of oil pumps. S&S have made 1, and has proven to be a successful oil pump for normal street rides and big ci engines. Why have Harley Davidson taken so many attempts to rectify the oil pump issue when Fueling and S&S appeared to get it right the first time round. They sent men To The moon in 1969, why can't they get it right the first time. I'm on my 3rd oil pump. I'm confused.....

  • @rickyhawkins7407
    @rickyhawkins7407 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just had my 17 RG in the dealer for a recall. While there they observed the oil pump issue and replaced the oil pump under warranty. Didn’t cost me a thing. In fact after seeing this video I went to my bike folder and pulled the paperwork to verify, they did the vent tube correction and the oil pump.
    If your bike is still under warranty take it in and have it changed. Just tell them it is burning or blowing oil.
    I had the Stage IV 114 kit installed when I bought the bike also.

      Typical ' Oh look at me response'..I am so happy that I have my twin cam and whoever bought a M8 must be feeling bad about their purchase now!! Almost like you are hoping people don't like the M8 and giddy about it!! Yet, even though you have an old TC, you are on a vid clearly directed at M8 owners clearly looking to chime in and gloat about it..
      Hey all good. Enjoy what you have. I have had both and still do. I can assure you my M8 ain't sitting in the shop and I guess I will settle for the far superior performance and potential of it over my TC...
      And just a reminder, there are likely others that own Evos busting TC owners about their TCs..glad you are happy with your sled. No need to gloat about it and act like all M8 owners made bad choice. I for one do not have buyers remorse..

      @phatballs9834 yes it should be a recall. The reason why they don't have a recall because it would cost them a fortune to fix what should have been found while testing the new engine. Like the twin cam. Harley supposedly put over 2 million miles testing that engine.your not going to tell me that they did not see the issue with the cam chain tensioners. If you are a long time harley customer(over 10 years), bitch and moan loud and long enough and you might get an "exception to policy" this would come from your dealerships service manager, he would be "backing" you with the motor company. I have done this in past,(not recently), it really depends on the customers "clout" and a service manager that knows how do get things done , in a larger picture. Also remember Harley has the rite to change things around in the interest of product improvment, they will allways do this, nothing new there. Happy trails.

    Is there a law suit out there I can join? It should be a recall to upgrade the faulty oil pump! Love my Street glide and installed a oil breather dipstick, oil breather out of the air intake preventing carbon buildup all home made + a tune, high flow intake and slip ons. Pisses me off that I had to bump up to a stage 2 because of a lousy oil pump.

      The people that work at the Harley dealerships will admit that HD builds new bikes so they can sell accessories and upgraded parts. Just look at all the cheap crap that's on a new touring bike. A wimpy horn, incandescent bulbs for the turn signals. Turn signals that are not run/turn/brake. And on and on. I'm looking at buying a 2019 FLHR, and the dealer was really pushing a "service agreement" pretty hard. It's not a maintenance agreement, it's an extended warranty with a $50 deductible. $15XX.xx for the first year. Now I know why the service agreement costs so much after watching this video.

    Maybe HD should hv figured this stuff out before putting out the M8?? Sounds like the Twin Cam issues back in the day. HD came out with the new great motor, but didn’t figure the little issues that would cause BIG issues down the line ...again!!🤦‍♂️ And of course, Harley won’t assist the new owners in some sort of recall or paying for the parts and or labor to correct these issues. Harley is charging more $$ for the bikes, but STILL adds these “extra” fixes on the customers’ dime?? I don’t know HD, you are following too many of the auto manufacturers with either crappy engineering or crappy manufacturing...or both!? Really disappointing and unfortunately it’s becoming par for the course with you.
