The problem with that is in many places you would have many schools faking scores, we only have it was a % of our score (which exactly depending on where you're going) and even then there was fixing of scores, recently they added a ranking score so it wouldn't help much if they give everyone good scores.
At a young age they still think they can save you but when you grow older they realize you are nothing special and they want you to keep sending them a part of your paycheque

Because in the end, Asian immigrant parents are just worried for their children. Climbing up the ladder is easily achievable through education whereas something like in show business or comedy is not guaranteed. It's clear Hasan is making good money and if he's doing well for himself then parents for the most part won't give a shit. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have a son who is reputable and well known and making a name for himself, that really helps take the edge off.

1310 out of 1600 was good and everyone is an idiot. 1030 without studying, 16 years after high school is still good. edit: since a lot of people (I assume youngins) are confused, it was only 2400 for a decade, it was 1600 when Hasan took it. My highest was 1400 after 3 years of study and although my parents would've liked a higher score, they realized that I was just fucking stupid and they were less hard on me. got in the 1200s in the 2400 one and got into a great school and doing better GPA wise than most in my school who scored above 1800s. the school avg in my year was 1600 so i dont think it matters much or they must have liked something in my application.
It doesn’t determine what university you go to. Most colleges require act or sat during admissions applications, but it definitely is not the only thing that is looked at! Grades, gpa, extra curricular, who you know, and standardized test scores are all part of the package!

I’m taking the SAT on my own…to get into US schools… man.. I’m on my 3rd attempt at a practice test and I’m getting 1280. It’s just MCQ but it’s harder than expected… I’ll keep grinding till I hit 1500… it’s so hard

The SAT has always been out of 1600 except for a brief window when it was out of 2400. Hasan originally got a 1310 out of 1600, so his score has gone down.

I’m taking the SAT on my own…to get into US schools… man.. I’m on my 3rd attempt at a practice test and I’m getting 1280. It’s just MCQ but it’s harder than expected… I’ll keep grinding till I hit 1500… it’s so hard
The important question is whether or not that 1310 is the old test or the new one.
(Given that he got into Davis, it's safe to assume that he converted his old score to the new system)
The SAT has always been out of 1600 except for a brief window when it was out of 2400. Hasan originally got a 1310 out of 1600, so his score has gone down.
I scored 1310 in 1990 & it was 99th percentile. The score was re-scaled later in the 90s.

Its a good score but a great score is really 1450+
Back when the SAT was 1600, I took it without any type of preparation and didn't take it seriously in the slightest. I spent most of the test time goofing around trying to impress the girl sitting next to me. My score? 980.
Side note: I was always a High Honors student and never had to study for an exam throughout high school. I thought I could fly by the seat of my pants for the SAT. I thought wrong. Do you think I learned my lesson? Nope. I spent my first semester of college dicking around and got a 2.4 GPA. I finally straightened out, and graduated in 2010 with my Bachelor's in Mathematics.
And now I'm an exotic dancer for Chippendale's
