- DIY Cube Light - quick and easy (MEHS) Episode 69
In this video I show a quick and easy build of a cube light for video work using 3 x 9 volt batteries, a switch and a MR16 LED downlight.

Nice very simple. Budget friendly.
Really nice job, man. :)
- Thank you.
*Can you do a video testing the MAX745 Multi Cell Lithium Battery Charger this board looks really amazing*
- Hi. Yes, sounds like a good idea. Cheers.
Simple and nice. :)
- Thank you.
Love it!
- Thank you.
nice box.....cube design i like it
- Many thanks.
hi, please what is the music background you use in your video?
That's great
- Thanks.
Cool.
- Thank you.
Nice
- Thank you (1st).
Nice! would have loved 18650s instead of 9v batteries
- Hi. Thanks. Yes 18650's were an option but too big and I wanted this to be simple. 6 AAA's are an option as are a couple of CR123A's. Cheers.
How much heat does the MR16 put out? Maybe make a diffuser out of some baking paper or opaque acrylic?
Maybe the design of the 3D printed box could include like a diffusion filter like theatre lights have (example: the front of this: lightsounds.com.au/shop/lighting/wash-stage-lighting/Light-Emotion-ZOOM180RGBW-180w-RGBW-LED-Zoom-Profile-Spot-17-50-degree.htm) and you can make filters for whatever applications you are using it for.
Hell, at this point, you have a base for an economical architectural light for whatever use you wanted.
So simple yet, so awesome. Thanks for the idea ;)
- Hi. Yes the MR16 gets pretty warm but it won't ignite paper or cardboard and hasn't yet melted the PLA I used which melts at 55C. These MR16's have a little diffusion on the glass but its not enough for most cases and yes a snap on or drop in diffuser is a must for close up video or photo work.
