    Never realised Washing Monument is that huge and tall like what I see on TV. Actually I find it sad to see those names who died in the wars in every memorial sites.
    Cute squirrel you captured there❤

    I haven’t been to DC since 1995! Now I feel old 😂! The war memorials are so humbling. Even though it’s been so long since my last visit. I can still remember reading and seeing all the names on the wall. Realizing those men and women gave their lives for our freedoms. Great video Craig! Thank you for sharing!

      Thank you. I’m glad I finally saw the Vietnam war memorial. My first time here was in the 80s when I was a kid and Reagan was president. DC is really a great place to visit. Happy new year.

    My dad served in Vietnam. He unfortunately knows quite a few names on the wall. When we were kids he took us to DC and we visited the memorial and we looked up the names of the people he knew and you can take paper and scratch them as a way of remembering them. It's a memory I'll always remember. I can't wait to bring my wife here one day.

      I’m surprised that my dad and his two brothers were never drafted. Everyone their age was sent over there. Maybe it’s because they went to college so the government left them alone. I’m familiar with people scratching the names on the wall like you said. Hopefully you do get to bring the wife here. DC has so much to offer.

      @@CraigKoppel the draft was done in a lottery system and they used your birthday as the number they picked they were born on lucky days I guess.

    Great job, Craig. It's nice to see these monuments in this context; not in the news like I usually see them. 👍

    This is such a beautiful city which offers a wealth of free attractions that cater to diverse interests. National Mall is iconic area and I would love to visit it one day. After the West Coast, now it's the turn of the Eastern United States 🇺🇸☺️

      I remember when I visited DC as a kid how disgusting it used to be. There were so many homeless everywhere but now it’s so much better. The monuments and museums truly are great. I hope you do get to visit here one day. Happy new year.

    *Nice tour in the cool weather. I haven't been to Washington DC in a very long time. My mother used to work there in her younger years. She even interviewed and was offered a job at the Pentagon. *

      Thank you. We enjoyed our time here. DC has so much to offer. Very cool about your mom. We wanted to see a lot more but we didn’t have time. I was hoping to head down to Washington’s home in Mt Vernon but we couldn’t. I’d recommend that to anyone in the area. I visited there years ago with my daughter.

    Well done. We visited probably 30+ years ago, so some of these memorials were not there yet. The Korean War and MLK memorials look really cool. Amazing shot of the capitol at sunset, too. We did visit the Jefferson Memorial and interesting story...as we were walking across the Ohio Drive bridge on our way there, we found one side of the bridge was closed off. There was a lot of commotion happening. As we crossed, we saw what was going on. Eddie Murphy was shooting a scene on the bridge for his upcoming movie "The Distinguished Gentleman". 🙂

      Thank you. We had a nice time in DC. It rained the first day we were there but the second day was nice and we filmed the monuments. The Jefferson Memorial was a little too far for us to fit in. I do remember The Distinguished Gentleman. I actually saw it in the theatre so many years ago. Hope all is well. Happy New Year.

    I've been wanting to do a layover in DC for some time now. Maybe on the next trip back to the UK. Didn't know the Mall was the largest building in the world at the time! Must have been overtaken by the Eiffel Tower afterwards, then the Empire State Building. Somewhat embarrassingly, the Mall reminds me of Forrest Gump, I think it was the first time I'd seen it as a kid! Vietnam was such a senseless war. I'd recommend going to Vietnam if you ever have chance to visit the museums and battlegrounds, and the prison where Senator McCain was held. Very clever the way the Korean Memorial is set up, never seen one like that. Very cool sculpture of MLK. The Capitol Building looked great at golden hour! Nice visit! 🇺🇸

      @CraigKoppel  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You are correct in guessing that the Washington monument was taken over by the Eiffel tower. I’d suggest you actually have several days to explore DC. I don’t know how much you enjoy museums, but there are so many of them here and they are some of the best ones in the world and they are all free. I think a lot of people mention Forest Gump when visiting here. I’ve never been outside of North America but would love to visit Vietnam and lots of other places in Asia. Happy new year.

    Craig, we definitely need to visit Washington, DC. It’s funny it took a third trip for you to visit the Lincoln Memorial. That’s probably the first place I’d go! There’s so much to see in DC. Amazing video as always. Happy New Year! 🙌

    • @CraigKoppel
      @CraigKoppel  18 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks Hatuey. It was a third trip to see the Vietnam war memorial not the Lincoln memorial. I know I said it in front of Lincoln so I see where the confusion came from. If you ever get a chance to visit DC I’d go. The place has so much to offer. They also have so many different Smithsonian museums all within walking distance and they are all free. Happy new year.
