Both regional and national scope accreditors are referred to as institutional accreditors. They are all judged by the same standards. According to the Accreditation Reform Act of 2020, introduced in the U.S. Congress on February 11, 2020, it was decided that starting July 1, 2020, colleges and universities will no longer be distinguished by regional and national accreditation because all accrediting agencies are held to the same standards. Meanwhile, the regional scope accreditors are now allowed to accredit institutions that are outside of their region. Thus, any institution relying on national or regional scope accreditation to make decisions may be considered discriminatory.

Thank you! I didn't know about this bill. It would be nice if this bill would be signed into law one day! It will make life so much easier for everyone!

can you quote the act that says they are to judge them the same? From what research I have done it has nothing to do with regional vs national and is all about holding accredators more responsible when the students who go to these schools are not employable after going to the school because that is a waste of government funds to supply student loans to people who have zero way to pay them back afterwards.

I am almost ready to start my degree at UoPeople. My only concern is that there are too many review videos about UoPeople. Looks a bit like they pay for reviews or something.

Regional accreditation is everything. And employers do care about accreditation…so I hope UofP will be accredited….because you will be limited.

Do you have an example of what type of employers usually care about regional accreditation?

@@legalmarina most federal, state government and city employers. Because of the post covid online education boom. Most employers have become hip to regional vs. Other accreditations.

@@robertovaldez4747 Got it! I worked at the NH Superior Court and had no issues with my education. But, who knows, maybe there are some other states or federal employers who care about accreditation!
