Always happy to see new people who are moved by SPM's story and recognize it for the masterpiece that it is, even if they were disappointed by the gameplay. I know it has a lot of gameplay flaws, but SPM will always be special to me for the story and nostalgia it holds, like it is and does for so many others. I'm glad you enjoyed it and recommend it 💖

This was the first and only paper mario game i owned and played when i was a kid, played 20 minutes of it and realized the combat was boring and never touched it since
This game is worse than sticker star. Exploring the levels in sticker star can at least be fun sometimes. Supers gameplay is just really bad and boring. I couldn’t even finish it. I got halfway through the game and just couldn’t do it anymore. The story is great and I commend it for that, but I’m not gonna play the game when I can just look up the story online when the gameplay sucks. The only reason it’s so well regarded by some people is the story or at least that’s what it feels like. It’s the only aspect about the game most people talk about. Do you wanna know what else has a great story? Bowser’s minions and Bowser junior’s Journey. Those were the side modes in the remakes of Mario and Luigi superstar and Bowsers inside story. They have all new stories that tied into the main game and even went out of their way to fix continuity errors in the series. They are fantastic Mario stories, Some of the best Mario stories we’ve gotten in years, but all people do is rag on the gameplay of those games and ignore the story. It’s just kind of annoying. Although it doesn’t help that most people didn’t play those side modes because the remakes didn’t sell super well. I’m not saying the side mode stories are as good as supers, but I did feel like it was worth mentioning. Also I don’t even think the side modes gameplay is that bad personally
@@theghostwiththemost789 the gameplay in Super Paper Mario is extremely repetitive, and it doesn’t really get any more interesting as you continue playing the game. The thing I liked about TTYD and Paper Mario 64 is how the badges helped create more gameplay variety so you weren’t doing the exact same thing every single time. This game is literally just jumping but some people do like that more I guess. It’s not the worst gameplay ever but it leaves much to be desired. I also haven’t played many Mario and Luigi games but I’ve been recommended them so many times, I actually need to play them all lol
@@Quintolio The Mario and Luigi games are great. I’d recommend playing the remakes over the originals because they smooth over some of the rough edges of the originals. Like in the original Bowser’s inside story during giant battles you have to breathe into the microphone to breathe fire and well I have never personally done that according to literally everybody it was awful lmao. In the remake it’s just a button. You could also play the side modes which I recommend. Their gameplay is very simple. It’s the type of game you wanna play while watching TV or something and to also play in short bursts. That’s how I played it and I had a pretty good time. The best way to describe the side modes are a very well made mobile game. The writing is really where it shines. Honestly the stories of the side modes are better than the stories of the main games. They even directly reference the events of the side modes in Brothership which is really cool I actually still need to beat TTYD. I got the remake and I am 3/4 into the game. I’m about to get to the moon. Honestly, I don’t really care for the game that much. I find it very mid and has to be the most overhyped game I’ve ever played. Not that I think it’s bad, it’s a good game, but I think it has a lot of problems. I think the first two chapters are awful, so many of the locations just feel like long boring hallways, the story is not very interesting (I know I haven’t beaten the game yet, but I was spoiled on everything that happens in the game beforehand). I think color splash is way better which I know is a very hot take

In gist, when people remember SuperPaperMario in fondness, it's the general plot, and nothing much else, unfortunately.
