Love the thought of Glenn as HC, looking into how he was taken under Parcells wing and rose through the ranks, as well as him being a homegrown talent & fan favorite make this an exciting hire. As far as Agnew goes I really can't give my opinion as I don't know his resume but just the fact that he & Glenn are familiar with each other & come from a winning culture given the state of the Lions franchise under Campbell, I'm all for the pairing. As you said it really doesn't matter which side of the ball the HC comes from so long as he brings along with him an OC that has some sort of resume that shows he can develop a young QB or at least elevate the play of QB's he's worked with in the past. I'm sure Glenn is well respected around the league but it will be very interesting to see how he assembles his staff, if he is the hire, & puts guys in place that have the experience this team sorely needs to bring this team up to respectability.
@@talesofanasphaltjockey Same. I did a breakdown of Agnew if you want more background. Glenn is connected via college and NFL ranks so I think he would have a good blend of vets and rising stars throughout the staff.
as an older fan I'd love AG coming in ... remember him playing at A&M and being drafted here with Pete Carroll as HC ... I'd be really curious to see how he fills out the rest of the coaching staff ... he's played and coached under some great coaches himself ... there is a former GM on the street they can talk to at any time ( he's currently unemployed I believe) even if it's just for Intel & ideas... John Robinson was Titans GM before Carthon , was with Vrabel a long time ... curious if he's even trying to get back in the football world at all 🤷♂️
Though I'd love to have Aaron Glenn, we need a coach who can coach the QB. A system that is QB friendly. The 49ers missed in the same draft as the Jets on QB. Yet, two years later, they were in the SB with a QB taken last in his draft. Having a HC that is QB friendly, is an extremely valuable skill set.
@@jameskennedy844 Finding a highly qualified OC could have the same effect. I'd argue him building an elite defense to practice against serves just as well if the coaching is there.
Gleen was one of my favorite Jets of all time. My fear for hiring him is who will he get to be his OC? That is vital because we have been an offensively challenged team for years. We need someone who can call plays at a high level.
Thought it was going to be Vrabel. And he was supposed to have a big say in the GM. Ray Agnew wouldn't be a bad choice and Aaron Glenn would be a good choice too. Don't both of these gentlemen have contracts with Detroit? Glenn could be released because for a step up the team would not hold to their contract. Court case George Halas Vs George Allen.
I think it’s unrealistic to think we are gonna get the ENTIRE Lions infrastructure, minus the head coach, and GM, with Agnew, Glenn, and Johnson coming here, unilaterally in the case of Johnson. I only believe Johnson would come if he’s HC, otherwise he’s gonna take that role elsewhere, rather than stay the OC for Detroit, let alone come here just to remain OC. In the case of Agnew and Glenn, I think it possible for Agnew to want to take the promotion to Jets GM, and bring Glenn along with him with the upgrade to HC, and then they have another young offensive mind on their staff that they know can come and implement Ben Johnson’s scheme here in NY. That, I think, is the most realistic scenario. That is, if we get any of them at all.
@@jrjet05 I may have misspoke a bit at some point but that's exactly what I'm suggesting here. Agnew and Glenn come and find an OC they are confident in to run some kind of power scheme.
@@DKBxJets true, ok. But it was still fun writing and posting my thoughts, lol. I hope it works out like we hope. Knowing Woody, he’ll go completely left. Here’s to hoping the 33rd Team can make a “NY Knicks” type difference with the GM and HC hires! 💯💪🙏
Agnew and Glenn could be a really solid tandem for the Jets. Woody has proven to be a fool and his track record suggests he will blow it again by going for some quick fix shiny bauble.
I think this is just buzz, Vrabel, would be my top choice, but Glenn and Munkin are at equal level, below Vrabel. Johnson would have to be overwhelmed to come to the Jets. Look, I'm sure Glenn is a brilliant defensive mind and from what I've heard he wants to come to us so that's a plus. But after what happened with Saleh, I think we ought to prioritize offensive-minded HC candidates over defensive one (ideally guys who shown they can manage both sides of the ball, like Vrabel). Not saying we should automatically reject defense-minded guys. Saleh was the biggest Coaching Free Agent after he left the 49ers, and when he came to the Jets, our defense became ELITE, but our offense was Swiss cheese, so my fear is that Glenn will just be a re-tread of Saleh building a dynamic defense but anemic offense.
