    Backing Track: • Simple & Funky Backing...
    This is a great chord progression for you to learn and practice improvisation. It consists of four chords in the key of A minor and has a slight jazz feel.
    I take you through some ideas for what scales you could use to solo with which include the blues scale, and also the dorian scale. I show some ideas using both these scales.
    There is also a backing track made exclusively for this video which consists of a band, with no piano, playing through these exact chords. Go and check it out and have a go improvising over it! The link is at the top of the description.
    If you have any question just leave them in the comment box below and I will get straight back to you.

    The A minor 7th chord progression in the beginning pairs nicely with the blues scale’s melody, I learned that scale in band class and I didn’t realize the importance of learning proper chord progressions until recently, I paired it with the blues scales and it’s an easy way to improvise some songs. Great video I learned a lot I practice with this video and refer to this video when I have to remember the finger placements

    The e 7 alt appears to be E7 #5#9. also it's a good thing to to notice how close a c major 7 is is to an e minor 7.. c major 7 is (c e g b) and eminor7 is (e g b d) just good to how closely chords are related to each other. I learn every day new things. I have had many private lessons in the past but generally classical music at the sub university level does not go deep into chord theory..The average jazz musician has a respectable knowledge of music theory both playing and theory. If we are in c, we can go to e minor 7 b5 in an instant. e g b.

    • @Piano_Pig
      @Piano_Pig  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Very right you are! You could think of Em7 as a rootless voicing for Cm9 - very similar chords indeed... it all depends on what the bass is doing!

    • @PIANOSTYLE100
      @PIANOSTYLE100 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PianoPig yeah the em7 ( e g b d) is right next to the e minor 7 b5
      (e g bb d) This I a really comfortable cord to make . I think it's in Georgia on my mind.. fma7. (face) to eminor 7 b5.( above) to a7 ( e g a c#)
