Blindside Midge, San Juan Edition

- On a recent trip to the San Juan River in New Mexico, I fished a pattern that was stashed away in one of my boxes for a situation such as this. Slightly off colored water with visibility around 18". If you were to take a popular San Juan River fly pattern called the Desert Storm and morph it up with another well known pattern called the Blindside Midge, this is what you would get.
Most of us know the Blindside Midge, a pattern from fellow guide, Jon Easdon of Colorado Springs.
I have featured it here on my channel before. It's a simple pattern that just works. I basically put the back end of a Desert Storm on a hook and put the front end of the Blindside Midge on the front. It worked very well on the San Juan. It's durability is remarkable. Tie up a few and have them just incase you find some off colored water. I am glad I did!! #flyfishing #Blindsidemidge #sanjuanriver

Never used ostrich hurl, I’ll have to give this pattern a try. I love bright flashy midges
@@gonnaknowmyname also check out the original colors that work great. Google up Blindside Midge and you will find lots of information on this pattern.
