I’ve always found it cool how Shoji Meguro took a slow operatic song like the Velvet Room theme and made it into one of the most hype boss themes in the series.

To this day, this is still my favourite final boss theme ever. I love The Genesis, Icon of Sin, Soul of Cinders and Invincible, but this is just on another level for me (Keep Your Faith comes close though). Hell, everything about the Nyx Avatar is as epic and utterly bonkers as it gets. You're fighting the anthropomorphic manifestation of humanity's fear of death, on the roof of a 300 storey tower that fell out of a wound torn in the collective unconscious, during the 25th hour of the day, as the moon prepares to smash into the planet. Everything about the fight ties into the themes of the story, and they topped it off with THIS torpedo of a track, that reprises the main theme of the Velvet Room. I would sell my soul to Nyarlathotep for a proper remaster of P3 that takes the best bits of P3P and FES, and smashes it all together.
Dude the way you describe just how ridiculous the ending is is just perfect. P3 needs a remake, best one in the high school sim persona trilogy. One of the best jrps of all time.
@@friskydrinklunkybank1108 the first 3, especially the 2 duology are still really good but nothing beats when persona became “persona” with 3. The SMT spin off era is good but man, 3,4, and 5 are just next level.
The official title of the track, "Battle Hymn of the Soul" alludes to the fact that it's just a badass rock cover of the series' theme, "Aria of the Soul". Using the game's/series' main theme is definitely a used trope but it usually hits for me, and this has to be my favorite implementation of all time. The first time I heard it, I didn't even realize the composition matched until the vocals came in! Legendary track for sure
