yes ! that's exactly what Metallica fans always expected when they -we- first listened to a new album... the same uncompromising, adrenaline fueled, masterfully played sound ! :)
The first part of the song is when you are seeking a fix.
The second part (The change up) is when you got the fix and feeling good.
The last part is when your coming off of it and you go crawling back for more.

Battery is easily in my top 5 Metallica songs with Disposable Heroes. MoP, One, and Welcome Home (Sanitarium).
Jade you couldn't be more right about that. Battery is the song that got me into thrash in the first place. Good call friend.
This is from the 80's, the best Thrash Metal to ever happen. Megadeth and Metallica led the way.
The entire tone of the song is meant to represent the addict and his cravings. The mellow part in the middle is when he gets his fix and is content. The aggressive parts are about his cravings and need for his fix.

This isn't quite the start of Metal, but it is much earlier on. This is part of the "Thrash" or quickly paced and aggressive sound, for lack of better description.
They recorded this so well that shit that was put out in 1986 still sounds modern. Master of Puppets is a fucking masterpiece hands down.

And a little fun fact, the first solo in this song is a James Hetfield solo, that's why it's somewhat slower and more peaceful.

What is so epic about this song is that even though it is about the Master being drugs, you can relate to it with any toxic addiction eg...alcohol, sex, porn, food, bad relationships etc...

Dude, just about everything from; Kill Em' All, Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...and Justice for All and the Black album is pristine Metal. Metal for the Thinking man (woman). Greatest band in the history of the universe-this one and any alternate. Enjoy.

Also "shogun" by trivium. They basically copy and pasted the structure, but its a way different song.

Like many have said One is a must. Honestly after One there are so many other good songs to choose from. For the most epic Metallica songs stick to songs from Ride the lightning, Master of puppets, and Justice for all. If you liked Sandman the Black album is pretty good too.

@@4freebird69 I feel like Kill em All is their 4th best album. RTL through AJFA is just better. I mean Four Horsemen definitely belongs in that group of epic Metallica songs, but not the rest of the album. Its good no doubt and a great debut album, but their songs got significantly better and more interesting on RTL. KEA is like the Black Album, not in song structure but in song impact. Both Black album and KEA have a number of good songs but no great songs, outside of Four Horsemen. RTL through AJFA have many great songs.
I used to listen to this album on my Aiwa cd player during church trips back in highschool😂🤣
Thanks for very nice reaction video. I love to see people hearing Metallica pieces first time, and analyzing them too. Would be nice to hear more reactions for Metallica. Here are few recommendations from me:
- One. Classic reaction song too. Also has good changes and transitions of different types of feelings, and tells very tragic story.
- Creeping Death, especially the Live Moscow 1991 version. Excellent heavy song, and the concert is legendary with 1,6M people in the audience. Must to see.
- Fade to Black. Another masterpiece, with both beautiful and heavy moments. Lyrics are something powerful too.
- Unforgiven. Another one with different styles. And if you like to go deeper, there's also Unforfiven II and III, for whole trilogy.

Before Nu-Metal and Grunge came up during the 90s Thrash Metal hit the scene with Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Sepultura, Exodus, etc. during the 80s. Thrash Metal was the antithesis to Glam Metal which was dominating MTV and radio play at the time. While Glam Metal faded away for the most part Thrash Metal bands just kept growing stronger through the years!
You should check out a song called “ants of the sky” by Between the Buried and Me. It’s like seven or eight songs in one

Metalica was considered speed metal when they started and moved to a more alternative style then back again in their career not just the song. Sand man is the more alternative sound in the middle. There are so many genres of rock you could do a new one every week and have stuff for years. I recommend, punk, ska, and power metal

This is what's known as thrash. It is what came to define metal. After the big 4, Ozzy, Kiss, Aerosmith,Black Sabbath all organically became Hard Rock. After the big 4 came every other incarnation of metal. Nu metal, Death Metal metal core are all an off shoot if you will of Thrash. The new wave of british heavy metal is actually called Hard Rock now. That is because of the big 4. The big 4 are Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax. The biggest of the 4 is Metallica. Also, Testament and Pantera are also big thrash bands you might want to check out. Thrash is a very important form of metal based on it's defining characteristics.
Metal Core is punk based. Where do you get that idea from that NWOBHM is called hard rock? Pantara is Glam and Grove metal.

It's funny how you said it's a lyric video Metallica did not do a video till the song "One" off their 4th album" And Justice For All "and it came out in January 1989 ,"Kill 'Em All "their debut album came out in July 1983 so they had no videos for their 1st 3 albums for a total of about 5.5 years (fun fact Slayer did about the same meaning they didn't do videos not sure what was their 1st ,not a fan) Master of Puppets is off their 3rd album of the same name n IMO is their greatest song so you started perfect.
