Thank you for this; I have a very special memory of hearing him play op 111 here in Bogota. And as an encore (tough to play anything after that without ruining the moment), we got the most sublime op 126 no 4 you could imagine.
Fantastic, and I dug the slow tempo in the adagio. But to be fair to Jim, I can't find a single other pianist who plays it this slow: not Arrau, not Brendel, not Schnabel... Slowest I found was Solomon, which is also a great performance, but man, you really stretch it out. Works for me, though.
Andrei Korobeinikov Both this sonata and No.32 op.111 are of the highest quality not only at present time, but also among general recorded performances. I learned of this pianist during 15th Tchaikovsky piano competition (2015), and despite jury's weird decisions, I wish the brightest future to this true artist.

his fugue is one of the best interpretations ive heard........next to Ashkenazi's
there is an unfortunate sustain sound in this recording. the fugue would do better without this saturated sound engineering.
My Russian is a bit rusty these days, can anyone please tell me what's this wonderful pianists name? Cheers!
Andrei Korobeinikov
jim, you're not born to listen to such pieces. It's written like this. Tempo is determined by the recapitulation.. Sleep well.
Are you the person in question? I am glad to be born to listen to such an excellent performance.

tempo is determined by you, Maestro. Nothing in the score can make you choose deliberately what to do.
