- December 21st 1988 - I spent the evening for the first time (but not the last) in the newly opened Nighthawks diner. Further down the bar, Shay Healy chatted with a young man with wild hair and a nervous, preoccupied air. Then he invited him to sing. The young man agreed and when he opened his mouth, I heard a sound like nothing I’d ever experienced before.

Aslan stayed true to themselves.they didn't let it go over their heads like other Irish bands.been listening to them over 35 years.they are a brilliant band .nothing will ever take that away from them .❤

I had tickets to see him in the concert hall in limerick this year which was eventually cancelled.. Ive never been more excited for a gig. I was going to take my mother to share it with her.. The last gig I had been to there was Finbar Furey in 2019 with my mam and dad. My dad passed away suddenly in 2020. So it would have been a significant and special moment for us.. Im not even an emotional guy but his death broke my heart. He meant every word he sang and he spoke sincerely from the heart. God bless you Christy

I remember watching this on TV but it doesn't seem like it's over 34 years ago. Shay is no longer with us and Christy is very ill and receiving palliative care at the moment. He has a beautiful voice it's a shame that we are going to lose him very soon but he will have left us with some amazing memories thank you Christy
