- The lower joint of a B-flat clarinet extended by several centimeters in which a strategically placed resonance vent makes it possible to produce low E-flat with a full and vibrant sound. Overall, the entire chalumeau register is greatly improved thanks to its limited flare in favor of a longer cylinder.
A shorter bell that no longer determines the accuracy of the fundamental notes E/B and F/C but serves as a resonator for the entire clarinet.A surprisingly stable and easy high register, thanks in part to the elongated bottom joint.
A third fingering of Bb middle register that creates vibrations in the entire length of the instrument to produce a full and resonant sound. This new mechanism will also allow the musician to create new sequences without changing registers, or to revise certain fingerings used in the pieces of the repertoire.The balance of the left hand, especially G♯ /C♯, D/A, have been greatly improved.
A slightly raised tone hole on D allowing a more ergonomic positioning of the left-hand fingers by keeping them on the same horizontal plane.
Enjoy rediscovering the repertoire that includes a low Eb and composed in A to Bb.
Finally, imagine a weight equivalent to a traditional clarinet thanks to its shorter bell and carbon fiber rings.

Nice instrument. Wasn’t the BC 21 before they are 13-2 these new instruments with the death of the R 13 if so that would be a great shame it’s still a great instrument. I’ve had mine since 1970! - God bless you thank you for what you are doing
Seems like it would be nice for Bb to C or Bb to B trills. Those trills traditionally use the worst fingerings on the clarinet. Stuffy Bb with a thin B or C. It would also allow for nice tremelos with the Bb. Something for composers to keep in mind if they’re writing for a musician they know has a full boehm instrument. It would be great for low Eb to become standard on professional instruments. Definitely more useful than a low F correction.
A clarinet? Case that will take, in effect, 2 A clarinets?
So far we haven't heard any announcements that Buffet is making an A clarinet version of this instrument. And at the moment, there are no double cases that can be used with this clarinet since the lower joint is longer than normal.
@@riceclarinetworks Thanks for this! Buffet have now made several instruments for which there is now no matching A. This presents a serious issue for the orchestral player as I’m sure you will be aware. Thanks for clarifying!
The last note of “Finlandia” was always frustrating: why even play (it’s a Bb to C trill)!
tune is totally different.
