Last week you saw us do all the fabrication to get the Airlift Performance Builder's Series shocks mounted and functioning in our 1962 C10 Stepside. Well this week we're finishing out all the fab work to start putting this c-notched and slammed truck back together. We're kicking it off by building out our LS3. Putting all the performance parts in so once it's finally mounted in place we can stick a nice, big Whipple supercharger on it! After our 6.2 LS is built, we're doing our final welds on our chassis. Our porterbuilt kit is getting a final check, then the whole chassis is getting brought out to paint! We're also doing some body work on the cab and fenders to get rid of any remaining rust on this classic chevy truck! Make sure to subscribe because next week this entire C10 is getting pulled off the chassis table, reassembled and one step closer to doing some burnouts in the parking lot!

The truck build takes me back. I did a frame off restoration on a 66 Chevy PU back in the day and followed a lot of the same steps you guys are doing like applying mud to the frame before I primed and painted it. I loved that truck. I lowered it but we didn't slam our vehicles like they do now or use air bags but it had a nice static stance. Lovin the content guys
We can appreciate a nice clean lowered truck! They don't always have to be slammed. It just seems like that's what we're addicted to lol Glad to give you dose of nostalgia with this one!

Hey guys, loving it but I do have one little thing i would have done differently on that engine. I noticed when you did the timing gear that you used the crappy chain tensioner. There's a much better "Batwing" shaped one that bolts in the middle of the upper and lower gear. Its the one from an LS2. These aren't prone to failure like the type you used (your type fails and ends up in the sump)
Anyway, something to keep in your mind for the next LS. Its not an expensive mod, and its cheap insurance.

My father had a ‘66 short bed fleetside back in the 80’s it was a show truck with the wild scallops paint scheme and all, I miss that truck, even more I miss my father….r.i.p Dad

i got my brand new silverado ltz, but i’m thinking my next one might just be a built classic. it’d be a hell of a lot more reliable than my 64 c10 project that’s for sure!

Wont you need different Rocker arms since you are going from a Beehive Spring to a traditional valve spring? I know on mine, the rocker would make contact with the spring.

Hey Darn Nice Build I Have A 2003 Chevy Silverado Short Wheel Base It Had A 4.3 It Was Knocking So Pulled It Out Can I Replace It With One Like That Without Any Problems Thanks
You'd have to make sure that your motor & trans mounts are in the same place

That chassis could have done with blasting before paint. I hope its going to be a dry garage queen or that bondo is pealing off there in a few years.

Yup! Sprayed it with rust converter before we even started welding it up!
I have a question for you guys. Why do you guys mostly use LS engines? Oh and I rarely see you guys do a full paint job on these hotrod builds🤷🏼♂️ curiosity I guess😅
Because they are awesome engines, small, lightweight and produce good HP & Torque. Plus they have probably the biggest aftermarket parts support/options of any motor ever produced.

Not to mention you’ll bust your transmission pump, if torque converter is not seated in the pump
There's a whole slew of issues! The long way always ends up being shorter than the wrong way when it's all said and done!
ls3 = 6.2 litres = 376 cubic inches.
If it’s a 6.2 then it’s also 376 ci
But it's still not an LSX

That’s not a 6.2L LS3. True LS3 did not have DOD. The 6.2L L9H truck engine did not have DOD ether not sure about the 6.2L L99 engine it may have had DOD
says you are running a LS3... but you are removing the VVT... as far as i know there was no LS3 ever with vvt... so you may have a L92 or a L99 not a ls3... even tho they are both 6.2 ... there not the same as a LS3....
