As an American I don't hear a lot of discussion about Norway here in the United States. Today I am very interested in continuing to learn about what famous Hollywood stars have to say about Norway and their experiences with Norwegians. If you enjoyed the video feel free to leave a comment, like, or subscribe for more!

She was being way too polite. "Tissefant" is what children say.
We have many words for both the male and female parts. And many dialects have their own unique words that can be pretty... imaginative.

Norway actually owns a good chunk of Antarctica called Queen Maud Land.

Normandie. The area Gange Rolf got from the French king for not plunder and kill the rest of the country. He was the ancestor of William the Conqueror who invaded Britain in 1066, I think it was.

It's called Normandy to this day. And you are correct, it is in France. It was actually occupied and settled by vikings hence the name.

    • @pappelg2639
      @pappelg2639 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Norman (Normandy) sounds the same as Nordmann (Norway) since the "d" is mute in the Norwegian word for a Norwegian. As mentioned here, vikings raided and settled in Normandy, thus the name for them yeah but Normandy in in france. In those times a Nordmann was "Norðmaðr" (man from north) in old norse, and Norman came from english version of the old norse "Norþman", and also earlier germanic Nortman. In old french: "Normant" :)

The journalist is pretty darn good. She gives em open-ended questions, and let it happen. For the actors, press junkets are a snoozefest, so by letting them decide were to go, gives them more incentive to care about the q's... And being norwegian, she dont get starstruck, and go OMG!!!

  • @mikaelathunell2822

Hahah I didn't realize it would be this complicated to explain the similarities between the Norwegian and Swedish language, but here you go.
So, when she says "oh, that's Swedish tho", he was asking how she's doing.
In Norwegian that's "hvordan har du det?", and in Swedish it's "Hur mår du?"
If I would translate both of them word for word I would say:
"hvordan har du det" translates to "How are you having it?" and
"Hur mår du?" translates to "How are you feeling?"
It might not look similar if you don't speak either of these languages, but to us it is.
"Hwordan" = "hur" = "how". There's also an old version of the Swedish "hur", called "hurdant", which is way more similar to the Norwegian.
"Har" = "to have/having" and "du" = "you" are the same.
The only differens is that Norwegians say "har det" (have/having it) when Swedes says "mår" (feeling) and some grammar rules that I don't really know how to explain 🙈but you can see that Norwegians (in this phrase) have to put "har det" (having it) together to make the predicate, but put "du" (you) between "har" (have) and "det" (it) to formulate the question. Think of it as "how is it going" where "is" and "going" are the verbs creating the predicate, and you put the subject ("you") between the two of them. In Swedish the predicate is one single verb (mår) in this sentence and a subject (du).
The thing is that Swedes sometimes use the phrase "har det" (having it) when talking about how we're doing. "Hur har du det nu för tiden?" translated word to word is "how (hur) are you having it (har du det) nowadays (nu för tiden)?", but means "how are you doing nowadays?" I actually think there are parts of Sweden where some still use "hurdant", and than it would be really similar to the Norwegian "hurdant har du det?" vs "hvordan har du det?" In Swedish there's a tiny difference between the two expressions tho, where "how are you feeling?" addresses your emotional or physical state, whereas "how are you having it?" is slightly more about your surroundings or circumstances.
Disclaimer: I'm from Sweden and some Norwegians may disagree with my translation

At least he jumped off an insane mountain with a motorbike, and of course he had a parachute which he used, and he also used the "Pulpit" in one of his films, so he has used Norway in more than one film.
