Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) wakes up confused in Joe's (Gregory Peck) apartment, wearing his pajamas.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Audrey Hepburn became a star with this film, in which she played Princess Anne, weary of protocol and anxious to have some fun before she is mummified by "affairs of state." On a diplomatic visit to Rome, Anne escapes her royal retainers and scampers incognito through the Eternal City. She happens to meet American journalist Joe Bradley (Gregory Peck), who, recognizing a hot news story, pretends that he doesn't recognize her and offers to give her a guided tour of Rome. Naturally, Joe hopes to get an exclusive interview, while his photographer pal Irving (Eddie Albert) attempts to sneak a photo. And just as naturally, Joe falls in love with her. Filmed on location in Rome, Roman Holiday garnered an Academy Award for the 24-year-old Hepburn; another Oscar went to the screenplay, credited to Ian McLellan Hunter and John Dighton but actually co-written by the blacklisted Dalton Trumbo. The 1987 TV movie remake with Catherine Oxenberg is best forgotten.

Amazing how she shows alarm and guardedness in her eyes, then chuckles after considering she spent the night, the way she runs the gamut of emotions and the european accent...totally beleivable. One of my all time favorite scenes!

If I woke up in a strange man’s bed in his pajamas without remembering how I got there, I sure as heck wouldn’t smile at him the way Audrey smiles at Gregory.

A top 10 favorite of all time for me, but Hell I'm a Romantic!
This is one of my fave scenes. Still, it's a bit hard for me to see Joe as a good guy when I've been watching Gregory for days playing unlikable guys in Duel in the Sun and Snows of Kilimanjaro.
"Snows of Kilimanjaro" is such an underrated movie. Also, Gregory did a great job playing a reluctant bad guy in "The Bravados". Really cool film too.
As for me who watches RH way before DITS, its kinda hard for me to accept that Gregory issa' bad guy in DITS haha.

Director did a wonderful job of making us believe she is scared and helpless to quickly have the woman assess the comedy of the situation and ease the tension. Brilliant work by the actors, writers and directors…all brilliant
