are these (Magna Leather FG) any good for everyday walk in the city ? Want them as a winter shoe for the rain the occasional pop over (once a quarter) in the mountain
please help me choose 😊 next summer I will be hiking for 8 days through the Italian Alps (Mont Avic/Matterhorn etc). I don't know which 'area' that is and which vivo is most suitable?
Probably you would want either the Magna FG bit.ly/45XCrO3 if you prefer more ground feel and flexibility, or the Magna ESC bit.ly/41y12Yx if you prefer less flexibility but more protection and expect a lot of rugged terrain. The Magna upper is nice for breathability and temp regulation in mountainous areas where the weather can vary drastically. Either way, make sure to bring the extra insole along just in case you end up needing more padding. Also, I always use Injinji merino wool toe socks bit.ly/3dvdcgk, since they're far more breathable and create airflow between your toes for long days. You can layer some regular Smartwool's over them if needed. amzn.to/47ZyCZJ
@@AndrewFolts So the FG and ESC are both WR and breathable? I van also wear the FG in the mountains where the weather can vary drastically? Or did you mean the ESC? Thank you so much for your answers 🙌🏻 Your video’s helps me a lot!
Hi Andrew Ive been looking for a barefoot Wellington boot I live in the UK and it gets very muddy a lot of the time. So far I have not found anything how about you, any signs of a barefoot wellington boot?
Hey there, no, unfortunately there aren't any barefoot rain boots. The closest things I've found are the Vivo Gobi Boot th-cam.com/video/XWoAcEWnlKk/w-d-xo.html and Ahinsa Jaya th-cam.com/video/f3sS003Amz4/w-d-xo.html, which both have high water resistance, although aren't 100% waterproof. The Vivo Tracker FG th-cam.com/video/ZkOLb1FbLLw/w-d-xo.html and Textile th-cam.com/video/Ds8J9bZjBzw/w-d-xo.html are waterproof and great for rain, although they're more geared towards trails and have insulation for colder weather..
Yea, like all leather they do soften, especially with occasional beeswax treatment. Just make sure you have around a thumbnail's space at the end. Being too short can make boots tight too.
I try to find out which viva bare foot shoe is a good winter boot. The website isn't that good when search winter shoes. Is it the Magna forest esc or the scott iv or something else
@@AndrewFolts casual and waterproof But with grip for snow, daily use on the way to work. I am an office worker. At work I usually walk on socks in winter or Some extra barefoot sneakers (five fingers vibram furoshiki).
@@N1nj4un1corn Personally, I love the Gobit Winter. th-cam.com/video/pP93IHsQua8/w-d-xo.html It's super comfortable and warm, especially with Injinji wool toe socks and a thin wool insole. There's minimal grip, but that doesn't bother me, I just walk mindfully on snow, ice, etc. If you want a deeper tread, any of the Tracker AT boots would be a good pick. bit.ly/47yq395 There's still a good amount of flex, but they'd grip better in snow.
PS: I'm actually looking for a shoe that I can train in all year round. Is one of these a good option? One that regulates my temperature well in winter and summer? I think I have to chokes between: Magna forest esc Magna lite WR SG Magna leather FG
@@AndrewFolts Training = hiking in forest area. I’m going on a hike tour in Italy (around mont avic, Matterhorn). I really don’t know what terrain I van expect. This is my first Time preparing for a hiking tour. But my second year allround walking barefoot (shoes). I’m from Holland, so we don’t have rocky areas here. Many forest and my training Will also be in Belgium, Germany, Polen and Montenegro for the next months. I guess the most training is in forest area. But maybe the tour in Italy Will be more on rocky terrain?
@@daisyvandenhoven3126 Gotcha. I personally prefer the Magna FG, because you can always add an insole for more padding as needed, but you can't take thickness away from a thick sole, like the ESC.
I'd love to try these out. Been on the fence with barefoot shoes and I'd have a pair if the price wasn't so hefty here in the UK. I'd choose the SG but we don't get great sales here on the UK site. I could get 3 pairs of good branded footwear for the same price 😬
Have you checked revivo.com? You can also look on Amazon amzn.to/3SmAW7A Freet also has a number of aggressively soled shoes.boot for more affordable prices. bit.ly/46YY0xG
@@AndrewFolts sadly, amazon UK has similar pricing, and US shipping is a no-go. The Revivo is still far too expensive for some refurbished BF shoes for me personally, especially after shipping. They are only around 20% cheaper on the UK store. I've not heard of Freet before, so I will look into them. 👍 thank you.
Could be worse, when I used to have an iPhone, it would inexplicably autocorrect "luck" to the f word, ha. SG's are great for slushy/snowy conditions, tho. Enjoy!

Hi! Just wondering what size shoe you are? Thanks!
Hey, I'm usually a 10-10.5 or 43/44 EU.
I think the Magna Forest Esc is a good compromise between everything.
The ESC sole is truly a monster, ha. Bit overkill for casual use, but nice on rocky terrain.

Yea, the FG sole works well on pavement, especially if you need more traction for winter snow, slush, etc, and occasional hiking..

My Magna FGs feel a bit tight due to the firmness of the leather upper. Do you find that they have more give over time once the leather breaks in?
