Thanks Andre for another informative and interesting DXING news presentation program. It look like your spring time weather is starting out with a bang at your QTH…😂! While my QTH of Tucson, Arizona had a cold snap right after unseasonably high temperatures. Well that put a crimp in my nighttime outdoor DXING but there is always next week…😅! I sorry to hear about another station shutdown and my condolences to his family and friends. The DXING conditions in Tucson have been spotty, I believe because of that solar storm effects, hopefully the radio storm will soon pass. I am glad my QTH is not in Finland living next to the prickly Russian Bear, but am glad to see the Finnish government putting local radio back to work. 73! Have a great day!
My pleasure! It is very interesting that you mention the cold snap in Arizona. We had snow in the Eastern Cape Province just a few days ago, in November! November is the last month of spring here and usually quite hot. Strange weather we are having, all around the world.
I am fortunate to live in a city that is often called the largest man-made urban forest in the world. There are over 10 million trees here, and in satellite images parts of Johannesburg look like a rain forest. I love trees also.
Not many people can say they have visited St Helena. That is the sort of place I'd love to go to. I knew a guy who's wife was from there. Your pics are great.
Thanks Glen. There are so few Saints (as they call themselves) around the world, interesting that you knew someone who was married to a Saint! I was very lucky indeed to be able to visit. It was in the days when I was a journalist at a newspaper in Cape Town. A very interesting place to see, a bit like time travel to simpler times. Now it is slightly easier to go there with the weekly flight, but the prices are steep. At least £600, but often more in the range of about £900 for a return ticket.
Hey Andre! I can't wait for that new MW station using the old YLE MW and SW site in Pori. I don't know if has been maintained since CRI stopped using 963 kHz in 2013 (and SW by YLE in 2007) but if not, hopefully this will prevent dust and decay at the site 61°28'50"N 21°34'08"E
@swlistening I actually spent hours and hours today looking for more transmitters 😂. I ended up finding some more in Slovakia, Czech Republic, and Estonia which you can see on my transmitter map.
@@theshortwavearchive35 I wanted to ask you about his, I haven't yet mentioned your updated transmitter map in my podcast, because you went very quiet for several weeks 😀 I wasn't sure if you were still updating. But if you are still updating, I am going to mention this in my next episode!
@@swlistening Yeah I've been updating it quite a lot with some new transmitters and info on my shortwave one. I have a purple dot which shows the latest updates for the past one week. When a new week starts I delete the old info and continue searching.
Two former mothballed YLE medium wave sites still exist. One is here in Helsinki and another one in Pori. I would like to see them both return to operation as they are professionally built medium wave sites that were originally intended for our public broadcasting company.
What a great day that would be if these transmitters were to return to operation! But I suppose MW is no longer a priority in Finland, like in so many countries now.
True however I think LORAN has disappeared at least it was extremely strong here in DK on the 100kHz and it went away a while or year or something ago. There are other methods for navigating like beacons. Lets hope nobody gets into trouble.
@@migsvensurfing6310yeah there is still experimental eloran in the uk (I think) but you cannot use it to navigate as other countries have closed their transmitters.
Great information that I otherwise would not hear.
Thanks Andre
You're welcome Lew, glad you enjoyed it!

I’m late in saying this but thank you for making the NEWS a podcast.
My pleasure!
Thank you for the update. Beautiful old tree in the first picture. I love trees.

Hi Liam, thanks for the coordinates for the transmitter site! I can always rely on you to add more information about transmitters 😀

Satellite links are easy to jam as they are so weak. Things like eLORAN are less susceptible to jamming.

@@migsvensurfing6310VOR/DME beacons have been closed in some places to be replaced by GPS.
I’ve heard that GPS has been jammed in Korea too.
I would like to hear VORW radio.
I heard the new frequency tonight, 17810 kHz. It was weak here in South Africa, but it might have been much stronger in Serbia. Did you hear it?
@swlistening No.
@@gorankoilic6571 Maybe next week. Every Monday at 15:30 UTC.
ON the 19th?! Fix that Andre, it is the 10th of November that you recorded this on
Thanks, I fixed it!
I also hear Channel 292, but reception is not good.
It’s a rare catch here in Florida too but worth the effort.
For me Channel 292 seems to be impossible, I have never heard it here in South Africa.
@@swlisteningI’d like to think that a new antenna could solve all of our reception problems. 😅

I think he was referring to the description of this video, where this was incorrect.
