The Danish trio Jensen, Bugge & Høirup performing live in Musikgalleriet Mariehaven, Ansager, Denmark on June 14th 2015.
The tune is a polka composed by Borcher Madsen, arranged by the trio.
Mette Kathrine Jensen, Kristian Bugge and Morten Alfred Høirup cultivate the Danish traditional folk music, and the stories it tells about intimacy, dancing and life in general. Very few others have visited so many small islands and other parts of Denmark where folk music is still passed down from generation to generation. It has made them specialists in many of the different musical dialects that exist within the Danish folk music. All three have received several Danish Music Awards (Danish Grammy) for their new interpretations of traditional music, and they have performed all around the world in numerous configurations.
In 2015 we celebrated BORCHER MADSEN's 200th birthday!
A musician whose name frequently occurs in the old handwritten tune books of the Southern Danish Islands of Lolland and Falster, was Borcher Madsen (1815-1897). He was born as a son of cooper and musician Mads Rasmussen. Borcher became one of the most talented musicians and greatest dance music composers on the Island of Falster.
Great music!!
Thanks a lot :) - this polka is also released on our album "Jensen, Bugge & Høirup - slid din tid."
