So, when they mention a character they need someone to bring up all notes on that character and course for character that doesn't overlap others. Dan Harmon drinks way too much to process that level of responsibility and accountability.
Ian-Devon Lewis that bit had nothing to do with continuity. The original line was in the first season. Then when Donald Glover left the show in season 5, the writers and producers saw and opportunity for a good callback. There’s no way they could have had that much forethought to be planning that for 5 years when they didn’t even know Donald would leave. I don’t know if Dan Harmon came up with that bit, but it was still genius and so is Dan Harmon.

He's such a uniquely talented person. I don't even just mean the singing, dancing, acting skills. His style is unique in terms of his comedy and presentation. He has 'it' and it's amazing that so many didn't realize it until Community.

I think also visually it feels different from the other seasons and I think that’s where they changed studios like it feels not more colorful but like lighter. Idk
