In November, I'm focussing on prioritising subscription box books, using randomly generated prompts to give me some direction. This week we're travelling back in time as I pick up 3 books I probably should have read when I received them in 2021

honestly your vlogs give me such a motivational boost
you're making me want to get to more of my sub box books... not that I am actually doing it... but you're making me want to lol
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure there was something about the Kerri Maniscalos publisher downsizing or something and when she got picked up by a new one they pretty much set Kerri free and she got to write the book she originally wanted to
I love your vlogs so much, Becca. They are so cozy to watch. I just want to curl up with a cup of tea and watch everytime. I'm happy to here the Booktube Meets event went well!
Thank you so much lovely 💖
Hamilton! 🥰🥰🥰 Ooo! Pale Daughter! 🥰🥰🥰 You’ve become me! 😂😂😂 A morning person who does not thrive with night reading. That’s actually kind of crazy because I remember when you would read until 2 AM! I do better with early morning exercise, but I don’t get to do it often because of my work schedule. Ooo! Those truffles look good! Love you, my dear! 🥰🥰🥰 Have a Happy Day! 🤗🤗🤗 Happy Reading!
I started using Pattern Kepper for cross stitching and it made the process so easy and quick I can't even think about going back to paper patterns. This app is the best. I was making way too many mistakes haha I love this aida fabric!
SWBTS is one of those books where I really appreciate the project of it more than it's hugely entertaining for me? The author does an excellent job of emulating a sweeping historical Asian drama, but I'm not really in the right demographic to eat that up. Very well executed, but definitely keeps you at arm's length.
(I also usually recommend people swap to audiobook in Part II when it starts to read more like a history textbook)
A History of Wild Places sounds really similar to the 2004 film The Village omg
She who became the sun was originally supposed to be published as a historical book only but the publisher decided to add the fantastical elements to it. That might be why there was the distant you had reading it
I was just coming here to post this. I felt the book would have been better as just a historical fiction rather than trying to shoehorn fantastical elements into it after the fact
Enjoyed the vlog! I’ve read A History of Wild Places. I liked it! Shea Ernshaw’s writing is definitely atmospheric.
I love this vlog and all of them this month I think it’d be so fun if you do another month of subscription box books again next year.
I loved getting to watch the booktube panel!!! I have loved the subscription box challenge this month and I'm thinking of doing a similar vlog series next year!!!
So I had a really hard time with Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri (which I believe is the book you DNF), I wanted to quit several times and gave it just a 3.5 stars and had similar feelings towards The Unbroken by CL Clark.
However! I read The Jasmine Throne and LOVED it! It’s still a slow moving plot but there are multiple POVs and an intriguing political fantasy plotline. Highly recommend if you want to give Tasha Suri another try 😊
Agreed. I didn't love Empire of Sand but absolutely love Jasmine Throne and can't wait for the third book to release
Literally just made an order through your link! Starry Night case, Prosecco & Winter Berries, Mint & Aloe Vera and Spiced Orange & Pear and added a mini deo of the last one I'm excited for them to arrive! 😁
I felt the same about she who became the sun and just found it to be a good okay book... and have decided not to continue the series 🙈 it had some good moments but it wasn't blowing my mind. I am a morning workout person!! So I am glad you're enjoying the process of doing that. I don't know many other morning readers & morning people / workout readers as well so this is v nice!! Was lovely to meet you in newcastle as well ^.^ sorry for being the classic super shy introvert 🙈
BG3 is sooo good! ….terrible for my reading habits but it is amazing
The cross stitch is going to look so good when it’s done!!
I love Kerri Maniscalco books! I’m 60% through Throne of the Fallen. I love the world and characters!
I REALLY need to do something like this-I feel like I continue collecting subscription box books and then don’t read them. I also have the problem of wanting the second special edition but not having read the first yet 🤷🏼♀️ 🤦🏼♀️
I had no idea you crossed stitched! How fun. I only picked up the hobby about 2.5 years ago.
And yes BG3 does take over the lives of anyone who plays. I played yesterday and had a fun/horrible time trying to win a difficult fight (managed to do it a few revival scrolls later). I hope you and your partner are enjoying it!
Spotify limiting audiobook time to 15 hours and not at least 30 should be absolutely criminal.
Always excited to see another vlog from you!
Love these vlog videos! ❤
The ending of book three of the kingdom of the wicked trilogy made me so angry and made me swear off the author in the future. Hopefully you enjoy the third book but I literally cried in anger when I finished the third book.
I didn’t purchase £50 worth of wild products as Xmas gifts before seeing this video…. And I also didn’t totally forget to use any of the discounts they already send me as a customer 😭
I struggled to enjoy She Who Became the Sun. The first half I was really engaged with, but it just became far too much after the monastery and I ended up giving it 2.5 stars
I picked up She Who Became the Sun at the beginning of the year because I’d read the entire Poppy War trilogy last year and was craving more like it and wound up really disappointed. I think I just didn’t like Shelly Parker-Chan’s writing, it was so dry and dull and such a slog to get through the first 120 pages that I wound up dnf-ing.
❤❤❤
Who reads books *when* they come in? 🤣
I had to dnf She who became the sun, because i could not get into the world. Which is a shame because it sounds amazing. 🫣
