I was there in November 2019 and it is expensive. I paid roughly $77.00 for two hamburgers fries water and a dessert at a restaurant there. But hey, it’s a vacation and can’t wait to get back there. Great place!

A small grocery shopping in ICA will cost you [ equal to one soda, small snack, orange juice, bread, spread & milk as example ] Will shoot you up to 15$ if youre lucky. A full grocery shopping for one person wont go under 40 $. Family shopping will rack up around 150 $ to 300 $ a week. Mcdonalds does usually sell a single burger for about 30 kr, which equals to about 2.5 $ i think [ rough estimate ]. But if you live here and earn nordic salary, Things are pretty cheap and very affordable.

But please, you can save money on the water. Please don´t buy bottled water when the tap water is totally icy cold, clean and fresh. Norwegians buy water when we are on the run because it is fancy, but at home, everyone drinks the water straight out of the kitchen tap and it is just as good as the bottled water.
I could see that being true. Water is very safe abs delicious in the Nordic countries, Iceland etc. It does taste great and no need to buy bottled water which is usually very expensive. I’ve also hear Coca Cola tastes different in Georgia 🇬🇪, for water reasons.
Tapwater in nordic coutries is worth of gold. Very common in Finland when living mid or northern part of country, water coming from spring. It is better than medicine and keeps you young.
December 2021 ... breakfast for two for $35 is a bargain nowadays in San Diego. Most breakfast plates now average $15-$16. Coffee is $2.50-$3.00 ... these are typical restaurant (meaning not the best) coffee. Then you add 8.5% for tax and %15-20 for tip and it's up there.

Why would you buy water? All the videos I've seen about Norway say that the tap water is at least as good as bottled water, and that's been my experience as well.

So I just told her someplace where you can see the whole area and costs $27.50 for the tram. It's in the middle of winter so I didn't even mention the 1,000 steps.
For the tourists and students jobless its a pretty expensive but for the native its a normal prices u can spend one week easily if u coock by urself....i recommend for u a hostel "aurora borealis hostel" i spent there 4 nights with 150 euro or 200 euro u can cock by urself and i even went with him for a fjord tour and Aurora borealis tour with 100 euro if i still remember

In Finland we making dry reindeer meat.. it's drying outside about month at earlyspring dry air. Temperature about -25 to -40° .. air is very dry. Meat salted before put out. That is delicious and f... Expensive to buy. About 300€/kg or more. Must try if ever visit in Finland.
Reindeer meat is great. My wife has it also from Yakutia where she is from which is in Siberia. It’s also become rather expensive for locals to purchase but I love it and very healthy meat full of omega 3’s
Reindeer meat is full of vitamines. That's medicine for winterdarkness. Special in norway or boarder river tenojoki salmon is best of quality. That's second healthy and delicious thing what everybody must try.
I ate reindeer and whale whilst in Tromso. 2 x 750 ml (1.6 pints) of Hansa beer = £20 1 bowl of delicious fish soup = 156 NOK or £13 1 fish lunch = 205 NOK or £18 Food and drink is expensive, but it was always super delicious. Best food I've eaten in any country.
Basically normal prices in Finland and Norway's salaries are 50-100% higher than in Finland. Aaaand this is why I'm heade to Norway in a few years, hopefully.
The reason restaurants are so expensive is because they pay their workers a living wage, and that is a principle I fully can get behind. If you're coming over from America it will be quite the culture shock to see that not everything is a race to the bottom for the cheapest price that is physically possible.

Tromsø is much cheaper than Oslo or Bergen region (Fjords). For the same cost of that accomodation + breakfast, you can stay on a 3 star on a cool hotel in the city center with breakfast included. The private tour for the Northern Lights tour was also much cheaper

Anyway, Norway IS doable on a low budget as well, you just need to know how/where to find the cheaper alternatives. They are not nescessarily bad. Many ways to cut costs.

obviously it's normal that you have to pay cost like this if you're eating in restaurant, I'm sure that when you go to the market you're not gonna spend so much money, cause in restaurants prices are always higher than you want and it's happening everywhere, not only in Norway. Ofcourse Norwey is really really expensive country, but it doesn't change the fact, that eating in restaurant is more expensive than buying products in normal shop :)
Exactly! and that burger meal for 77 USD (!!!) could have been prepared at home (airbnb) for a fraction of the price- probably around 1/3. That is, if you have this opportunity, of course. But even if you don`t have this option, many supermarkets sell things like chicken, pork chops etc, that are freshly made and WARM.. One large chicken normally cost around 70 NOK. Add a box of potato salad, and it`ll be 100 NOK. That`s 11 USD- dinner for TWO, that you can consume in your hotel room.
I went on a cruise boat lots of those costs were abnigated by the boat. But it's absolutely where you want to be as climate emergency takes hold. I only made as far North as Copenhagen where I live but should have gone further North.
Unless you live in New York City or Los Angeles, you will run into sticker shock in Norway... But if you have a bucket list to fill then go for it After all you only live once..
The bus you talk about in the beginning of the video is not an airportbus. It's a regular bus. You have to walk a little bit longer than if you take the airportbus. The airportbus is more expensive.

The building on the top of the mountain is where the mountain lift arrives («Fjellheisen»😊). Its a café there also.

Based on the examples you provided, only the food seems to be expensive.

@@boejiden Thanks for the input. I can see that; it's happening to the US with Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Large companies are buying out land to make resorts, hotels, etc. In turn, it raises costs for everyone who already lives there.
