    Cute little video BUT unless you want some trouble with the FCC for "transmitting false information" AKA Tornado 50' in front of me. I would watch how your child plays on the CB, I know no one really gives a crap about CB anymore but storm chasers monitor it & truckers specially on Ch 19. Teach your children well. *cheers*

      you aren't "tapping into satellites" lmaoo, you are receiving what satellites publicly transmit. I.e., NASA uses radio to transmit deep space images from their satellites, they know it's public.

    Thanks. I use the NooElec NESDR Mini 2.
    I saw a lot of stabile signals at 433 Mhz at SDRsharp and became worried.
    Now I see that 433 Mhz are mostly devices, this could be something like the smart meter then right?
    Hopefully my comment is not too simple, i just wanted to know what it was and I bet that I have the answere now.

    What's the software I need for digital radio tv pagers & CW.

    • @ACBMemphis
      @ACBMemphis  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's been 3 years, so the software landscape might have changed, but I started with AirSpy to get the radio working then searched for add-ons, mostly on the site rtl-sdr.com. HOWEVER, I would proceed with caution when downloading software. I use an old laptop from 2011 that I don't use for anything else, just in case I accidentally download a virus. For HD radio, the app was called "nrsc5", the pager app was called "PDW", and the scanner was FMT/DSDPlus. However it has been years since I have done anything with this so better options might exist. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      I was just viewing the waterfall display in real time. Not sure how to record, but if you search for "SDR Sharp IF Recorder" there are some people discussing this. For the audio programs like the scanner and HD radio I think it was able to record WAV files of the audio.

    Question; So potentially my neighbor could have one of theses things and accidentally listen to my conversation on my cordless phone or baby monitor?

    • @ACBMemphis
      @ACBMemphis  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say with this specific device "probably not" but yes, interception is possible. This particular model doesn't go high enough for many phones, but there are a lot of other SDRs that will. For example, search TH-cam for "Listening in on 5.8 DECT phone" and you'll find peolpe using the HackRF to do this - a more advanced model of SDR than the one from this video. Thanks for watching!

    • @Blue-Collar-Radio
      @Blue-Collar-Radio 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. You can listen to baby monitors and some (older) cordless phones (i.e) 900MHz models) with this type of item. Baby monitors are notorious for security issues.

    Could you provide more information on how you set up and configured the police scanner and the others?

    • @ACBMemphis
      @ACBMemphis  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sure. (1) Due to the number of downloads required, I would advise using an isolated PC you don't care about. Never ever enter any credentials (Web or local) on this PC. Treat it as hostile on your network. (Big disclaimer: I am not a network security expert, just a hobbyist.) (2) Google "NooElec NESDR driver" and follow the instructions from the manufacturer to get the driver installed. (4) Google "Airspy" and download SDRSharp-x86.zip from the airspy site. (3) Verify that you can receive basic FM radio transmissions with AirSpy - if so, then your PC and the SDR are working. (4) For the police scanner, find an app called "DSDPlus" - to get this working I did some Googling to find a step by step tutorial. I could do a step by step video, but there are a ton of those already on TH-cam. If you need more info let me know I can try to fire up the laptop when I get home from work and tell you the exact commands I'm running.

    • @ACBMemphis
      @ACBMemphis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The getting started documentation was good, it had step-by-step driver installation for Windows. However that is all it was, I had to do a bunch of additional searching to learn how to use the applications. For more advanced information on SDR, I suggest searching for a TH-cam channel called "Lon.TV" - he did a very in-depth series of videos on SDR as recently as earlier this week. Thanks for watching!

The other software that had the larger file, still not pulling a signal. Doesn't even see the device. But at least I know mine is working.
