It’s a lambo for the family man. If you can afford it, it doesn’t need to make sense.
It is super noisy though, the kids won't like it.

One could also buy a sporty sedan instead. Much sportier and does fit the whole family. Heck, a high performance wagoon would be even better.

From a performance perspective, super SUVs may look like a pointless exercise indeed. But from a market perspective, they mean the difference between brand survival and bankruptcy.

Finally someone gets it.... So sad to see, how only Rory is getting praise. Well deserved, but no videos without them.
I've gotten to drive one of these lambos on track for a brief period of time and sure it's no supercar or even sports car but it really just feels like a big, ridiculously fast hot hatch. Which I think is what people actually want to drive everyday (a hot hatch that is).
SUV's are what people want to drive; sales figures prove that fact. Performance is largely irrelevant for the average driver.

Rory you're the man. Proud of you Sir. Great presentation as always. On another note, I appreciate this Lambo Urus. My Dad was a mechanical engineer and because of him I'm into cars. He's late now but I'm sure he'd appreciate the level of tech that these modern cars have today. An SUV that can handle and perform like this is amazing. We need to appreciate such technological feats rather than criticise them.

The Audi rsQ8 may be the “cheap version” but it’s far from cheap. The only Audi I’d spend over 100k for is an Audi R8

Lambo is a lot better looking... But if I needed a high end SUV for whatever reason.

It's a niche market, as oxymoronic as a sport SUV sounds. It's nice to know these manufacturers are putting out vehicles for the few persons who want everyone's cake and to eat it too.
Tough sale between the x6m, cayenne turbos gt, urus and AM 707. But the choices in luxury sport SUV just keep increasing. And we can all agree, that is a great thing.
Excellent commentary by this guy, witty and yet on point. Nicely done. We have a Cayenne and it poses similar problems. But if you need an SUV, they're great! And we use the Cayenne off road, where it works well.

Everything Rory says about the Urus can be applied to any other hi performance SUV... Levante V8, DBX, Bentayga, Cayenne Turbo and so on. Great great points of view! These type of cars are the blend people need and ask for, it's not a coincidence that they are outselling all the own sports cars... Excellent work Rory and company! Saludos desde Colombia!

there is a long line of legendary british car commentators, but this guy is special. The production team as well!
I know it seems sacrilege that sports car brands make mass market cars to make some good money, but for some reason I never jumped on the SUV hate bandwagon. They’re not my favourite type of car in the slightest and the argument that they’re excessively big and heavy for the space they offer inside is valid, but sports car lovers don’t make up the whole car buying market. I think people forget that sometimes. I like the Urus, I appreciate the Cayenne, I like the DBX, but that doesn’t make me any less a car guy than anyone else.
Trust me people like you are 100x better than those who call other stupid and “fake car enthusiast” for buying SUVs. You could have a fleet of CR-Vs and still be a car guy as long as you have a passion for cars imo

Fantastic video as usual! I'm personally against SUVs because I have no intention to bring my car off-road, nor do I need the extra ground clearance. The performance Lamborghinis are certainly too "hard-core", but what if they could make a 'GT' type vehicle with sufficient practicality and performance ? :) Probably very "un-Lamborghini" :) The VW group also has such vehicles (e.g. Bentley Continental GT, etc)

Here's some sacrilege for you: For a few seconds I thought I was looking at a Porsche.
I’ve had two cayenne turbos and these types of car are great fun. Not as focussed as a sports car but it’s a 4x4 so why do people insist on comparing. If you can afford an urus you can afford a sports car too…

The urus is the original super SUV..RSQ8 design and a lot more originated from the urus
You don't look at a vehicle like this and say, this doesn't make sense? You buy one because, it doesn't make sense! I like it. Would I buy one? No! But I do like it.
I don't think it's pointless if it increases your total sales volume by a few hundred percent - and the consequent profit it makes you. It may be a dumb concept, but the bottom line is money, and that's all that matters to a car manufacturer.
Never mind that all that unnecessary weight kills the MPG?

I guess the main market for Urus is US and China. Here in US near NYC you are paying 30$ per hour for parking, so you need to choose one car for every need - fast and fun, luxurious, but sometimes you need to pickup kids, carry some groceries so its very obvious choice for me.
Anyone know where this road is?
Another top notch review Rory. It's always good to have options I guess, especially if it's helping to keep Lamborghini in business. Great for impressing the neighbours and reaching and surpassing the legal speed with the family in the back.

I think you only buy this car for the badge, otherwise you just get the RSQ8 and save quite a bit of money for the same exact engine & chassis.

I think the point that is missing a lot of the time in these reviews and other media posts regarding the ultimate drivability of these vehicles is that the skill of the vast majority of drivers out there is not a match for the capability of these SUVs, whether super or not quite super SUVs. These drivers want to sit up high, or have more cargo capacity, AWD...any of the characteristics buyers say they want in their SUVs and most importantly, they BUY them! Hence they are huge cash cows. BUT...in addition to that, they also might want more style, more speed and power, more cache. Why shouldn't the automakers step up and meet that demand? I wish I would have known 30 years ago how popular unibody SUVs would be, I'd be a rich man waiting in line for the Purosangue.
suv is for morons who wnat to look down on others at a height and want lot sof space to store their garbage b/c they are overrelaint on materialism. at this price point, a lotus exige and a aptera/nobe is still cheaper and gives best of all worlds.

I like everything about that car except the cheramiq brake . I know that they are more efficient than the old model buy when you preparing to stop need to push the brakes harder than normal

I would love to be a lotto winner and be able to buy a new 707 but that rear end is not right somehow. This is an amazing beast but could I really spend 330,000 euros on one? I doubt it. So I would be left with getting something like a Macan GTS as a daily and a MC20 for lunacy.
I would think this would be the perfect car for States that get a lot of snow.
these car videos need to start giving us an idea on these locations, they legit gatekeeping at this point
