About Silver Spoons: Even though he is now running his family's multinational toy empire, Edward Stratton III (Joel Higgins) has never quite grown up. An overgrown kid, he lives in a mansion filled with arcade games and toy trains. But when he discovers that his brief marriage twelve years earlier produced a son, Edward faces the responsibilities of being a parent to the youngster, Ricky (Ricky Schroder). Springing him from the boarding school where he's been sent by his mother, Edward brings Ricky home to live at his estate. With help from his personal assistant, Kate Summers (Erin Grey), he looks to teach Ricky how to enjoy being a kid, while Ricky helps his new dad see the value in accepting full-fledged adulthood. And as Ricky stands on the brink of being a teenager, Edward begins to see Kate as more than just an employee.

I’d actually like to see the rest of the seasons (unedited), released on DVD.
@@spiritualED i bought it years ago....
YOU BET!🙏👊❤️
Where the rest of the series
when I was 12 I was visiting my aunt and she got tickets to take me to watch an episode get taped after I got to meet ricky Schroder and jason Bateman and the rest of the cast
Incredible
Cool
Very very cool, the 80s were the best times of my life.
😮😮❤❤
Jason Bateman was a cutie.
wow hearing that theme song gave me goosebumps. I was about ricky's age when I watched the weekly episode with my family. Turning 50 on Wednesday (11 January 2023) unbelievable, like hopping in a time machine and being back there.
Happy belated birthday, deon!! I turned 50 back in November so welcome to the 50's club! ;) The 80's were a great time to be alive!
@@crmay72 Thank you, Indeed.
Same here. I joined the 50s club in May and I remember watching this show while I did my homework. Oh thr memories
I'm about to join the 50 club in 3 days ( October 30th 2023) 🎉🎉 These are definitely nostalgic. 😊😊
I just turned 50 last month (December 2023), and everything you said hit me like a ton of bricks. Never missed a single episode of this corny show. Yes, it’s definitely like hopping into a time machine. Seeing boys near my own age on TV in those days got me starstruck. They were my heroes.
I was born in the '70s but I grew up watching this show and I still watch it today I have it on my tablet and I'm watching it right this minute
One of the greatest intros of the 80's sitcoms
Definitely, what a great era for tv shows and intros, we had Growing Pains, Who's the Boss, Family Ties, Alf, Perfect Strangers, Diffrent Strokes, Threes Company and many more, oh man, I miss it so much, if we could just turn back time!
It had a very 80s new wave feel to it
A lot of the 80s shows had memorable theme songs. The screenshots, though, were from specific scenes in the pilot. When the show was "picked up" they kept the theme but used different scenes from multiple shows.
I was so in love with Ricky when this show came out. Never missed one episode!!! I can’t believe we are all in our 50s now 😎 Jason Bateman really rose to fame and Carlton went on to Fresh Prince… I never really saw Ricky again when the show ended unfortunately… he sure was a cutey and every teen beat magazine I bought for sure for the photos to hang on my bedroom wall
I liked this show too. I'm only 30 though.
Just like I was in love with Keri Russell when I first saw her on the Mickey Mouse Club :)
60s
i know isn't it crazy?!? where oh where does the time go?!? i remember watching this like it was literally yesterday...all curled up w/my younger sister, curled up on the Hide-A-Bed in the basement of our childhood home 💓..."arguing" over which one of us thought Ricky Schroeder was the cutest 🤣. i am now 50, she is 48. 😱
@@gracenote1837 60s are the new 40s 😊
Love this show and how wholesome it was.. plus I had a hugh crush on Ricky Schroeder
Derek was the real hero of this show.
Yea so cute and funny!
I feel he accepted Ricky just a little too quickly
This really takes me back!! I never saw the very first episode... Thank you!!
Ricky schroder was born to be a star. His natural talent on screen is amazing. Very good dramatic actor.
My Erin/Kate crush is even stronger now than it was back in the day this was filmed. Wow! :)
I think she was in buck rogers in the 25th century.
@@sroevukasroevuka Beautiful woman and yes I loved her in Buck Rogers.
Moved-in with my dad in the fall of ‘82 when this premiered. He was a musician & not playing that night (a rarity), but we watched-it together, I remember.
OMG! I had to take a double take on this video. I LOVED this show! I had the biggest crush on Ricky Schroeder when I was younger. I had his pictures all over my wall from Tiger Beat magazine!🥰🥰🥰
*SAME❣❣
It just Rick now
Same, him and Chad Allen
I have always loved that train in the living room.
I used to be jealous that they had a Pac man game in their house.
wow, I forgot Jason Bateman was the other little boy in this, LOL
This show was Dope, actually still is.🤘🏽
Such a sweet show
Wonderful iconic show. Ricky and Edwards were just awesome !!!
So we ain't taking no DNA test here? Damn the trust is real in the '80s 😆
It’s 1982, what’s DNA testing?
@@kurtl8425 I'm pretty sure the DNA testing was a thing 41 years ago
@@thisjustin212DNA was a thing, but not DNA testing.
@@duckduckgoismuchbetter I guess you're right, but damn that was real quick. All you needed back then was a picture of your parents together 😂😂😂
@@thisjustin212 Yes... But you seem to be implying that TV shows for kids and teenagers are not real life. I'm shocked. 😂
Had no idea how much this show was a part of my childhood until I heard the song 😢🎉❤
Loved this show growing up in the 80's .
What is ur born year ?
One Of The Best Shows Of The 80's
The Ricker was awesome
It’s embarrassing how many of my life goals took root from this show
So do you enjoy riding that train around your house? 🤣
Overall it was a positive show, so why not.
Choo choo choo choo choo choo choo choo wooo wooooo!!
i watched this in reruns sometimes. i loved the theme song.
Ahhh....the ole' preppy look of the early 80s: green Izod pull-overs, khaki slacks, and penny loafers. That changed into izod pullovers, arrow button-down dress shirts not tucked in, blue jeans, and top-siders deck shoes or Vans. Sort of like how Farmer Ted dressed in Sixteen Candles just two years later. I went to high school from 1979 through 1983, and lived that fashion transformation. But for some reason, I never watched this show that I can recall......
Oh my God, Farmer Ted. 😅 Hilarious when AMH got called that at the dance
I know it's insane how long it's been I'm 51yearsold today
Never realized Robert Picardo was on this show. And he still had hair.
He’s always amazing. “All? Your. Money. Is. Gone!”
He lost his hair after realizing he was going to prison after being caught stealing by a 12 year old boy. 😂
Still remember when this episode first aired way back in '82 !
Was it 82, hum I was an infant almost 1, though I always thought it was 1/84 or 12/83, I was wrong.
Back then when tv was decent and cared about morals and ethics 😢
I loved this show. Have always loved that theme song. 💕💕
Loved this show
Damn NBC did away with sat sitcoms
Erin gray is so beautiful always has been still is
It took me almost the entire episode to notice that was Robert Picardo.
This was my favorite sitcom of the 80's
Great show
I love it when Ricky's thick Brooklyn accent slips out throughout these episodes 😀 Such a corny show, but I love it!
Great episode
Loved it
OMG that’s Robert Picardo!!
I love that house
I miss this show!
He has the dude from Blue's Clues shirt on 😂
Cutting Jason Bateman from the cast was an iconic blunder!
First episode 1982 I was 2 years old lol. I remember the name silver spoons for some reason but I don't remember the series, that's strange.
Poor Ricky felt so helpless with his father bless that secretary Kate for talking some sense into Ed for taking him back and then marrying her. Their chemistry was magical
I had a crush on Edward Stratton III!
I've lost count the many times I ve watch the program but it at least a thousand times 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂.
good family drama comedy
show .im watching❤❤❤❤😂😂😂😂😂😂
Good show.🇺🇸🤖🌃🎵🔊
I watch this after school 🏫
the Silver Spoons are always the first against the wall in a revolution.
Erin Gray deserved a good, long-running, presumably low-stress job after breaking her back carrying Buck Rogers for 2 years!
Ya, I think they sewed her into those outfits.
@@douglasdixon524 Yeah. I was young and couldn´t believe the way she dressed.
This is a great show. It is also streaming on TUBI.
Back in the 80's when my friends were crushing on Ricky, I was crushing on Joel Higgens
The big mansion looked like a painted background not a real house 🏠
Apparently it was a photo of an English estate mansion. The same house was used in the Disney film Candleshoe
It's a real mansion in Warwickshire, England if you ever want to see it.
Cool
Lou got really frustrated with Edward, so, he quit his job, built a time machine and traveled into the 24th century to design a holographic doctor. A wise career move.
Pretty bizarre that the Pilot was 28 minutes long. Did it originally air without commercials? Was it in a 40 minute broadcast? Anyone remember how it aired originally.
It can be looked up. The pilot episode yes 28 minutes. Seasons 1-4, 24 minute episodes. Season 5, they cut it to 22 minute episodes.
Robert Picardo.
Tubi and the took it off why did they do that ?? Please put it back 😭.
6:10, Edward’s life is about to change forever!
Too bad about Ricky turning absolutely nuts
Hahaha🤫🤔🎬Always, thought Joel higgins, the dad. And, the military dad from Twisted sister videos, look like the late great #22 Mike bossy, lol.
I really miss the 80s !! 😪😪
Another show that went off too soon :-0
That's the actor who played Coach Cutlip in the Wonder Years playing Lou.
Yup. He was also in Star Trek: Voyager and played Joe the Meat man on Home Improvement.
And Richard Woolsey in the Stargate franchises SG1 and Atlantis.
And I never "watched" one. But, I might now.
I miss my first computer a Sony grey color had everything I give it to my nephew yrs ago
Silver spoons it’s a great show from blue pictures television.
You mean Embassy Television?
Does Amazon have these tv shows I wanna buy
Well tubi has it for free :)
His father was immature....
Wow I mean WOW you're so insightful did you get that all by yourself
Why does the Dad remind me of Pip from Lord of the Rings 😁???
That damn g❤️rgeous head o' hair‼️ 😍
Never noticed the painted outside when the front door opened
Oh hi Doc
Was that other boy jason Bateman?
Yes
Yeah. Only the early ones. Hilarious tho
Yes. He left in Season 2 for fears from the producers he was outshining Ricky. He was one of the most popular characters on the show and his career continue to blossom ever since.
The Candleshoe castle
Funny haircut
Joel Higgins looks like Craig Ferguson.
Is David Cross with hair
Sweet dreams
Born with a silver spoon in one’s mouth.
Buck rogers girl ,,, doctor from star trek voyager
Why dont they make a Silver Spoons Movie already and a new Toy already please for this crackhead please
Nah, they'll insert woke politics in it and it was also a show of it's time. Grandfather Stratton died a year after the show ended and Frank Seales who played his accountant Dexter Stuffins died in 1990 from AIDS. Leonard Lightfoot may reprise his role for Edwards' lawyer from the first season. Joel and Erin still look good for their ages. And Rick and Alfonso look great for their ages. Jason Bateman speaks fondly of the show so he probably wouldn't mind participating. But I'll settle for an hour long reunion special instead.
Silver 🪙 Spoon 🥄 was o😅n
Hey, that's the DOCTOR!!!
Yes we’re all 50 now I only watch the show for ricks stepmom I think her name was Kate she gave me a rise in my Levi’s 501 blues sporting my vans 😃🔥🤣. Come to think 🤔 about it I bet Kate has a silver bush now or is it Erin Gray🤭

Ricky needs help
I love how so many people commenting here have turned 50 in 2023 (including me) and we’re all here reminiscing. I must admit the show seems pretty cornball to me today, with the implausible storyline, the cheesy scripts, the bad acting… it all seems so scripted and staged. The perfect show for a young boy of 8 years old at the time. I never missed an episode.
What was funny in the '80's?... Reality? Isn't so much more fun or funny anymore, is it? I hate today
Wow. This show stinks.
Chevy chase wannabe
This piece of garbage was actually picked up?
Who were you picked up by? Don't leave us hanging.
