Larrenz !! Nah, perfect pitch is the ability to hear or sing a note and identify it without any reference. You don’t need perfect pitch to work out how to play new instruments. You can do it probably without relative pitch even but I think a lot of good violinists will develop a decent level of relative pitch. As well, perfect pitch isn’t some magic skill that will make you good at music either. I have a friend with perfect pitch and she didn’t find it easy to learn the violin or new instruments or even do things like melodic dictation (writing a melody out on paper just by listening).

I own many guitars.. 4 of them being fender strats, everything from my $4k custom shop to American standard, to my most recent purchase of a player series strat. I was extremely impressed with the quality and feel of it right away, I’ve since modded it to be a proper gig setup but I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for an incredible instrument on a budget.

For those discouraged, getting good at the guitar is a combination of having the physical strength/dexterity to make certain sounds, and then having the understanding of what sounds go well together, rhythm, etc. This guy already had all of the musical knowledge (and more), incredible dexterity in his left hand, and excellent sense of rhythm in his right hand. Notice by the end he stuck to playing one note at a time as opposed to playing chords (avoiding barres entirely) and stuck to picking instead of strumming. For newbies you've got to build up all of these connections from scratch, don't be disheartened!

This comment is kinda stupid. Music theory doesnt helps you developing technique. He might had his left hand trained, but not his right hand.
      Do you even play guitar??
If you do so, try flipping your guitar, by side. Try to pick with your left hand for a week, if you are right handed.
That would be pretty much of the same as him.
I'll see you in 1 week, lets see if you can play well as that.

    • @TheDude044
      @TheDude044 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

@@istanbulmetrosu2485 it’s not stupid to assume that somebody who is well versed in music theory already on a STRINGED INSTRUMENT would be able to pick up another STRINGED INSTRUMENT quicker than somebody who isn’t. Your comment is stupid. And I’ve played guitar for 10 years, can I play left handed? Yes, but not very well. And I’m not posting a video because I don’t have to prove shit to you. The techniques between violin and guitar are different yes, but to sit there and actually think a professional level violinist wouldn’t be able to learn how to play a guitar quicker than people who have never played is downright ignorant.

@@TheDude044 I know that his left hand is trained.
My point was his right hand.
1 week isnt enough for picking.
People struggle with alternate picking for months.
Also its not normal how clean his picking is, for a 1 week player.
I didnt say a shit about his left hand, and yes cause of it is trained with violin, he can get it way more faster than anyone else.
      But his right hand...
You dont have to prove me anything. I never asked for that. I could go try it myself. Just wanted to let you see how hard is it to get picking in a week.
It took months to get rid out of sloppy, unclean playing and muting other string.
His fingers might be trained yes, but guitar has so many different techniques, only with left hand.
Have you seen how relaxed he is with the guitar?
The way hes holding it, finger positioning, etc...
Even from the very first time he hold the guitar.
You should be wayy more uncomfortable with it, when you play violin for 13 years.
Also, those slides was way good for a begginer, imo.
Not like he cant do it, yes he cant, but not for the reason you are thinking right now.
      Your fingers blisters.
Do you remember the first time you picked up a guitar?
They hurt. You wont be able to play for days because of the pain. Even in the first day.

I think one of the perks of starting off acoustic is when you play notes the wrong way you can't immediately mute the strings to hide it (like he did a few times here.) It forces you to go back and learn why you strummed it/fretted it wrong and then your ears start helping you correct the issues. That was one of the worst beginner problems I kept hearing on the pieces. Still sounds great for a week only though! I hope he keeps playing some guitar too--it's fun to see his progress.

Actually, as a violinist this makes a lot of sense. For better or worse the benefits of a quality instrument while learning is highly emphasized as it helps set up proper technique for the rest of your life. A mediocre violin can make learning so much harder! (I'm not a guitarist, so I have no idea how true that is for guitars, but that's how our brains think.) Also our concept of expensive instruments is pretty skewed, lol.

I am a violinist who learned the guitar too, and the hardest part was the amount of stretch ur fingers have to do, compared to a violin, and that took me a while to get used to. Fingertip conditioning also is different compared to violin, cause the strings are under more tension than a violins. He should've at least mentioned that his fingertips were sore or something, cause even mine slightly were although I'm a violinist. I don't believe that the dude never played a guitar before.

It's annoying all the people who think he is lying about never having played guitar. They don't know what they're talking about. The mechanics of playing the violin and the guitar are practically the same, and the skills are entirely transferable. There are two big differences. One is the tuning -- a violin is tuned in fifths, and a guitar is tuned in fourths. But guitarists play frequently play in different tunings. It's not hard to learn a new tuning. The second is the sound generation mechanism. Guitar uses a pick. You CAN SEE him fumbling with picking, as you would expect.
It's also believable that he can solo on a guitar, because he plays solo pop music on violin. He even does slides and hammer ons on the violin, already. Aside from the differences I noted about, it's the same. If you played classical and pop music on the violin for 13 years, you could play a decent guitar, too.
Now it is easier to transfer skills from violin to guitar than from guitar to violin, because of the absence of frets on the violin. And bowing is a lot harder to learn than picking.

don't want to argue with anyone :) but I think he's just smart with the techniques he does which is cool. Plus, being passionate and happy about what you do really makes a big difference that's why he learns and improves real fast. we are just here to support and appreciate his works 😊

@A1MusicStudio ok, but piano is very different than guitar. He's going from one string instrument to another. A lot of skills likely transferred.

    • @philipchau6019

eon star no, in my opinion piano is more translatable to guitar than violin because of the dexterity needed in piano playing, improvisation, and visualization of scales from piano is easier to understand and transfer to other instruments in my opinion. I don’t know that much about violin but I do play guitar (mainly) and piano.

Dude! It's fake! In a week you can't play like that!
I'm guitarist, 11 years of experience!
He knows a lot about being a violinist, but I know because my girlfriend has been a violinist for 15 years and she could never play guitar like that in a week. Violinists are good with notes, but they struggle with chords, and because they are used to the bow, they find it difficult to move the fingers of the right hand.

Beginning guitar is mostly wondering how your fingers won't go where you tell them, and then when you finally get them where they need to be stopping after about 2 minutes because you don't have callouses yet.
