Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore, who paired in a number of hits with Rajesh Khanna, said no other actor ever had a fan following like the superstar.
"He was most certainly the first superstar and with due respect to other actors, nobody created that kind of a craze after him," Sharmila said.
Recalling that she was a witness to that phase of his career when the actor's stardom was at its peak in the '70s, she said wherever she went with him they found long queues of excited fans waiting to have a glimpse of him.
"I am very upset at the news of his death," she said.
Khanna, she said, had an inherent enigma in him and his appeal went beyond age groups.
"Elderly woman would want to mother him. Younger women wanted to fall in love with him. And the men also liked him because he had a lot of energy and style. He brought together people from nine-year-olds to ninety-year-olds," Sharmila said.
After the 1969 hit film Aradhana, she recreated her chemistry with Khanna in films like Safar, Avishkaar and Amar Prem.
"Most of my films with him have been hits. Aradhana was a very big hit while Avishkaar is a cult film. I have very positive memories of him. He was a wonderful actor, had a wonderful voice and came from a theatre background," Sharmila, herself a National Award winning actress, said. - บันเทิง

I was lucky to have visited him on his birthdaý as a college girl,the way he came out to meet us we almost fainted seeing his radiant personality adorning a soothing silk orange guru kurta and a silk lungi, his infectious smile and hospitable behaviour kept us sleepless for days.
Now at seventy i recall him with huge respect nd thank god that we were given the opportunity to meet this towering personality.it was like a life time achievemet for us.

18 जुलै की रात उनके जाने के थोड़ी देर बाद मुंबई में अचानक जोर की बारिश सुरु हुई ओर देर तक रुकने का नाम नही...मानो राजेश खन्ना के जाने से आसमान भी रो रहा था....😢😢 मैंने बचपन मे उनका सिर्फ नाम सुना था के राजेश खन्ना कोई बढ़िया हीरो है मगर कोई फ़िल्म नही देखी थी इसलिए कैसे दिखते ये सब मालूम नही था । लेकिन उनसे पहले जंजीर देखने की वजह मैं आमिताभ जी का बड़ा फैन बनगया था । और उस वजग मैंने हेअर स्टाइल अमिताभ जी जैसी ही बनाई थी । लेकिन एक दिन मैंने राजेश जी कि दुश्मन देखली और फिर मैं उनका इतना दीवाना होगया के मैने अपने बालों को तेल लगा लगा के राजेश खन्ना जैसी हेअर स्टाइल में बनाली... और उनके सारे गाने मैंने गा, गा कर याद कर लिए...और आज भी गाता हु...। राजेश खन्ना और उनकी दुश्मन, अमरप्रेम, कटी पतंग, सफर और आनंद जैसी कई फिल्में...फिल्मे ना हो कर, एक वास्तवीक जीवन बनकर, हमारे दिलों दिमाग मे हमेशा के लिए बसी है...❤❤

मैं पहली बार जब शूटिंग देखने गया १९७१ मे वह फिल्म थी "अमर प्रेम" और मैं काकाजी को उसी दौरांन पहलीबार मिला, अंधेरी "नटराज स्टुडिओ" मे और इस फिल्म की ८०% शूटिंग यही पे की गयी है, कुछ आउट डोर शूटिंग तब मुंबई के नजदीक ऐक छोटा गाव था "नालासोपारा" वह बिलकुल कलकत्ता जैसे लगताथा। तो कलकत्ता आने-जाने का समय और खर्चा बचाने के लिये शक्ती दा ने कूच शूटिंग यहीं कारवाई। और एक बात यहां बताना चाहता हूँ जब मैं पहली बार काकाजी से मिला तो उसी डायलॉग की शूटिंग चल रही थी जो डायलॉग आज एक आयकोनिक डायलॉग बनचूका है, "मै ने तुमसे कितनी बार कहां मुझसे यह आसूं नहीं देखे जाते.. आई हेट टियर्स पुष्पा, आई हेट टियर्स..!! And I'm the eye witness of this dialogue..!! 👍😊
