I really enjoy this Manga but I hope it finish before I die of old age .

@Tom The Fish yeah I understand. However the stories like these they do offer good pay offs and rushing them doesn't help anything. I'll avoid spoilers but I will say that other manga such as bastard, and Guyver are also long-running mangas with good payoffs. However I do understand that extending the story is just milking it to a certain point.
God Hand, The Eclipse, and you're going to experience all of it for the first time. I envy you.

Berserk is one of the all time greats.
I've to say, Berserk is awesome. Probably the best manga I ever read, amazing history and an art that are always improving. I think I'm reading Berserk for almost 16 years, best of the bests.

Dark Horse releasing this deluxe edition is the best thing to happen to the Berserk series, the larger format allows a greater appreciation for Miura's artwork.
I've read up to the current issue, it's an epic journey. I'm doing a re-read when each deluxe volume drops.
No spoiler but things get intense later on.
Buy the prime one guts in berserker armor statue! Trust me ull want one later

@Lord Colin yeah unless you're like rich, I don't think buying a statue of that cost is something one should do. If you're rich fuck it it's like a hobby or something you really appreciate

Man, came across your channel a bit ago when I saw your iceman statue review. Really dope that you’re digging berserk, I’ve been buying the deluxe editions for me and my older brother and it’s the best format to read this story in. So sick.
Ohhh my sweet summer child, shit gets more wild. you guys can watch the 3 movies and old 90's anime after the next deluxe. the most recent anime from 2016 you can just ignore and stick to the books.
Glad you guys are enjoying this, and it's been fun getting your reactions on each volume. I read most of the manga years ago in the small trade paperbacks, but it's been dope re-reading with these deluxe editions. Such an epic story. And you were correct, after the fifth deluxe you'll be able to watch the original anime. The anime basically covers the first 13 volumes of the manga (the fifth deluxe edition has volumes 13-15).
I really do think you both should go back and read it again as time goes by, there is so much detail that you miss your first read through. It really is good to take your time with this
Skip the berserk 2016-2017 series its crap. You could watch the golden age movies after the deluxe volume 5.... loving your videos and statues reviews, if U get the guts statue in the future it would be dope... sorry for my horrible grammar.. saludos desde mexico

P.s you can watch the anime after you finish this arc! The 1997 adaptation is a gem. The newest one not so much but you can try it out of curiosity. The manga format is the best one to experience the story IMO. It’s all great though

You're not ready for vol 13. You're good to watch the anime (2006) after you read the next collection. The anime basically covers volumes 3-13 of the manga. I watch the anime when it was originally released and is still my favorite. The manga I'm keeping up with and is rumored to be ending soon.

maaaan, gem I'm just finishing up fables deluxe volume 14 of 15. you're really missing out. I hope they at least bring back the absolute solicitation so you have an in to the series. but the deluxe editions are gorgeous.
Dude, this book is a rollercoaster. I am reading along with you guys, but I did have to read ahead a little bit. The next 2 volumes just destroyed me. If you can, just read ahead on the next 2 volumes and then you'll be ok to hang back to each quarterly Deluxe Edition release. You can also then watch the anime as it ends at the same point.
Ah you finally arrived at the eclipse. Just wait man, even worse shit happens to finish the Eclipse. Guts' suffering is just beginning. You watch the whole show or the Golden Age movies after the next deluxe. There is a new anime that takes place after, but its so hard to watch, the CG is awful. Berserk has been one of my favorites for years, glad to see you on it now.
Btw Gem fyi, the song you're thinking of from the show is Guts' theme. Also the song Forces from the anime soundtrack goes hard
Berserk is Evil Dead for Japanese anime the creator of Berserk looked up to Sam Ramey and the other American directors.
So I read manga and comics, been getting more and more into manga recently. Many people have recommended to me to read Berserk plus you guys are reading it plus they are dropping the Deluxe editions now and I'm all in. Just finished vol 4 the other day. Sucks to have to wait so long for vol 5 but damn I love Kentaro Miura's art. I don't even want to read the regular size books. Definitely sticking with these oversized books. Every single turn of the page I've thought Casca was about to get raped since vol 3 since everyone else has. Shit is disturbing but I can't stop reading it. Keep those books away from your kids lol.

For sure watch the anime after volume 5 and then the movies if you want to too because they just retail the story of the first 25 episodes but with better animations.

I brought and read up to volume 36 of berserk and then the deluxe edition where announced and I sold my paperbacks and got the deluxe editions.
I began my collection a few months ago and now I discover the deluxe edition, I'm kinda pissed off honestly. But the normal edition will do, I still love it.

It's been my fav manga for more than 2 decades. I remember when the original anime came out and it was a multi disc set and had to wait every month for one to get released. The original anime out takes were funny as hell too.

Every 2 or 3 years I reread the series. I started repurchasing them in this format. I love your guys insight on the series and seeing your guys reaction after each book. If you guys get a chance can you pick up Uzumaki by Junji Ito. Damn Ill buy it for you guys. I think Phie will love it seeing how much she enjoys berserk.
After the next omnibus you can watch everything that's been made into anime form. The old series, the newer series and the 3 movies. Everything. It's has not been adapted further for whatever reason.

After you read the next volume i strongly reccomend you to watch the Golden Age arc movies... its three movies only and the animation is superb. The movies are what got me into the Berserk universe in the first place.

This is Definately the Omnibus collection I'll invest in! I've read Berserk many years ago but always wondered which to invest in. Right now, WATCH THE 97 ANIME! Then watch the Berserk movies. You can watch the 2016&17 at your own risk....it doesn't do the 1st 2 justice. Btw have u both considered reading the Akira hardcover editions? They're fantastic as well!!!
yes I did read Akira, did a review on it too. We also watch the 94 anime after reading this, love it.

Yo Gem I'm a new fan and subscriber to the channel and fellow Texan. Berserk facts. It started in 1989 in a monthly serialization called Young Animal. Also his sword has a name: Its called Dragon Slayer and it weighs 300lbs and stands at 6'2 if I remember correctly. It was made by the blacksmith Godo. One last thing the behelit is pronounce (Bay-let). Keep up the work on these awesome reviews!

Really love the outtakes!...not too sure about reading from back to front and it being black and white...stay minty!...and Phie has to be in all your videos from now on...she's a natural...be safe, whipe your hands and ass (if you can find toilet paper that is)...peace!
The original anime ends right after Griffith sacrifices everyone, so you're pretty much there. There are the newer anime movies that cover the same stuff as the original anime, it's just grouped together as three movies. The latest anime starts after the Eclipse so you won't be able to watch that one for awhile. The soundtrack for all of the animes are sick as hell, but the animation is a little odd in the newer ones. They went for that weird kinda 2D kinda 3D style, it's tolerable in the movies...but it takes a lot of love for the series to accept it in the latest series lol. Comics are definitely the way to go though, they cut out a lot of stuff in the anime adaptations, and it's pretty sick DH is releasing them like that.

I've read up to the current time line in 2017, but chapters were coming out so slow. Letting it build up more before picking it up again.
Im new to berserk and since the lockdown I have been reading this like crazy I guess I'm on the 5th book as iv read past the eclipse stuff and iv have watched all 3 golden age movies, I can't get enough of the this berserk franchise it amazing bro

So much awesomeness...the tragedies Guts faces and has to overcome! The manga is gorgeous, shows what the human spirit can withstand, an amazing read. I've even painted Magic cards with that art. :)

Berserk its my favorite anime thing ever. once you guys are done with like i dunno volume like 5 or 6 maybe check out the original anime it has a lot of differences but its fantastic to watch.
The anime is great, I've discovered Berserk through it like many people, but it owes a lot to Hirasawa's soundtrack, and is nowhere near as brilliant as the manga.
Great Review! You're definitely going about reading Berserk the right way. You definitely don't want to rush cause it takes forever for new chapters to come out. I've read it all, but I'm also re-reading them as the deluxe editions come out. I was gonna say you'll be able to induldge in the anime after the next book, but I've seen in a recent upload you've reviewed so I'll be checking that out next.
