    The moment that officer said he would "shoot her in the face" he had already decided that interaction was ending with a head shot. Take race out of the conversation and tell me you would want a man like that to be the one who turns up to "help" your loved one who is not mentally well. Absolutely not. The whole situation is absolutely outrageous, they didn’t find a prowler and could have left, but instead prolonged the interaction and murdered her. Sadly, I had that happened to me and my college friends on our way to a party. We were parked on the side of the road trying to find the location. The officer approached us and we started asking for directions to the Street. He claimed he smelled alcohol from the car which was a total lie. He demanded us out of the car. I passed every test, but he still wanted to do a breathalyzer. I informed him I never did one before and asked him to guide me through it. He said "You just blow into it" and that's what I did. He got upset and grabbed his gun telling me that I was trying to avoid taking the test. We had to tell him to calm down. He then explained that I had to blow into it until it clicked. Turns on None of us were drinking. When his partner arrived, his partner realized us because i worked at the local bar that his partner was always at while on duty AND our group just held a conference with students and Police regarding drinking and driving. His partner pulled him away and came to us apologizing saying the guy was new to the force. We demanded the officer be taken off the force for threatening students with a weapon, but they said they were going to put him on desk duty and require more training.

    People keep trying to go back to the still shot of her holding up that pot when the cop is closing the distance on her about to shoot her to get a better shot. Everyone keeps claiming that she threw this boiling hot water at him and it's on his actual body cam it only recorded the very beginning of her squatting down and it shows her holding up the pot of water with one hand. So what does that tell you? If a 5-foot tall 100 lb woman is holding up a pot with one hand what does that tell you? That tells you that the pot was most likely empty or if anything had a small smidge amount of water in it. If you pay attention to the video she takes the water and brings it to the sink and as she's talking to the cop she's got the sink on and is putting cold water into it or pouring the water out and that's when she said I rebuke you in the name of Jesus and the cop went ballistic. She squats down with the oven mitts covering her face and cows and says I'm sorry and once the cop comes around the corner to get closer so he can get a better shot at her face, she grabs that pot with one hand and holds it up above her face above her head to block the bullets coming out or try to block the bullets that's what she did she didn't throw water at him. The cop even said see the water landed at our feet SMH but the cop by that time was only like 4 ft away from her so if she threw a pot of water when he's only four or five feet away, then why didn't the water land on his clothes or on his face? That just tells you that the pot was most likely empty or near empty it probably only had a little bit of water that's filled out in front of her and we know cops like to lie he said the water went in front of their feet but the water was most likely in front of her because they were only like four or five feet away by that point and the water probably Spilled Out of the pot when she held it up to block the bullets. And like I said there wasn't a lot of water in there cuz she held it up with one hand and if you have ever cooked before and taking a pot that size and filled it up with water you would know how heavy it is and you know damn well you wouldn't be able to hold it with one hand

    Condolences to her son and family THIS tragedy should NEVER of happened and cop is 100% responsible for taking her life!! SHE called for help!! Why ask for her driver's licence?? Justice for this lady and may he get what any other person who commited a crime like this!!

    • @im.empimp
      @im.empimp 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      >Why ask for her driver's licence??
      Because there was an interaction (in this case, she called in about a prowler) therefore the responding officer(s) must write up a report, that must include her name and address (at the very least, some departments will require more info).
      *For many reasons, we really do want our law enforcement officers to make these reports.*
      The reason most officers prefer a license is simply because it reduces the probability of misinformation (for example, misspelling someone's name) and _almost_ everyone has some form of state ID, so it's an easy way to reduce potential errors.
      That said, when dispatch sent the officers, they likely already had her name recorded, and they obviously had her address, so he simply needed to ask her name and confirm that it matched the dispatch information and he could use that for his report.
      There are absolutely better alternatives. For example, I've called my local 911 roughly 6 times in the last 15 years about gunshots nearby during the middle of the night. Our dispatch will get my name, verify the spelling of my name, confirm my address (most of our cell phones already have the information in a form that dispatch knows what address the phone is registered to, so if you're calling from that address, they just confirm it), and they have then asked if it's okay for an officer to stop by and ask additional questions while they're on scene, and ask if I _want_ the officer to stop by and give me an update that night or the following day. Of the half dozen times that I've made these calls, I gave permission for the officer(s) to stop by all but one time; even then, only one of those times did an officer actually come by with additional questions.
      FWIW: I've also read that because she was acting odd when the officers arrived (it took her a while to answer the door, she seemed confused, she repeatedly stated that she "needed help" but then she was non-specific about the help that she needed), that the officers expanded the call into a wellness check, at which point they had the legal right to enter her home _regardless_ of whether she approved or not. I understand the theoretical point of wellness checks, and I'm sure that in _some_ cases, they can be good things, but in every single case that I've personally heard about, they have turned out very badly for the civilian, i.e. the LEOs only made the situation drastically worse or they downright killed the person that _might_ or might _not_ have been in danger before their arrival.

      From google - "The police can force entry without a warrant during a welfare check if they have sufficient reason to _believe_ someone inside is hurt, in imminent danger, or needs aid. If you do not want the officers to enter your home, you _may_ succeed in stopping them, depending on the situation."
      From the law dictionary - "Essentially, as long as they have reasonable grounds to _believe_ that an inhabitant in a residence in endangered, they can legally enter the premises."
      From Berkley Public Safety - "5. Can police enter your home for a welfare check?
      Yes. The law states that if a police officer has "reasonable _belief"_ that someone inside a residence needs aid, or that there is an imminent threat to the life or welfare of someone inside a residence, the police can make an entry without a warrant."
      From the Police Brutality Center - "They may enter the home without a warrant if they reasonably _believe_ someone inside needs help."
      To be clear, this is about "wellness checks" and _not_ "community care". As far as I'm aware, "community care" has been struck down (i.e. LEOs can no longer use this as justification) but "wellness checks" are the exception and can be used as justification to enter premises _without a warrant or permission._
