I have personally worked in the high speed injection molding industry for years. I have seen with my own eyes intellectual property stolen. Charging Americans more for a product is not necessarily the solution in all cases. Perhaps sometimes the solution is to innovate to make it at a competitive price right here in the good old USA🇺🇸 💙
I think that dealing with China will impact people on Main Street. It will take time to change the playing field. What I find really disingenuous is Trump saying tariffs won't increase prices (they will, obviously, that's the whole point of them) and that "he had a great economy in 2019", implying that prices will drop to 2019 levels. I mean, there are literally voters who think putting Trump in charge will bring prices in stores back down. That's what they mean when "it's a simple choice, prices are too high, vote for Trump." So implying that it will be cheaper to buy things AND that we will manufacture it all in the US is a lie. I mean, unless workers in the US will be paid the wages Chinese workers get and under the same very lax regulations. Honestly, this is a problem that will take a couple of decades or work to resolve, and several different target areas. Long term planning is not Trump's forte. As far as injection molding, which I have zero real experience with, I believe most of the mold making is still done in China? That's the sort of core infrastructure business we really need to bring back to the US, and it really could be. Making the machines that make the machines is key.

We sell disposable gloves manufactured in China. The US government raised the tariffs from 7.5 to 50 percent on those being manufactured in China effective January 1, 2025. No one is moving any manufacturing anywhere. All the retailers have already raised the prices in the US preparing to pay higher prices in the future. Manufacturers in Malaysia have also raised their prices and are making higher margins now. The US consumer is already paying more!!! The higher tariffs are not even in effect yet! Kevin O'Leary is clearly either stupid or gains other rewards if Trump wins.

If I pay 50% on a 100 million dollars of products i import from china, I’m going to add that value added taxes(tariffs) on the products plus my profit before I sell to the consumer. I have personally worked in the high speed injection molding industry for years. I have seen with my own eyes intellectual property stolen. I think that dealing with China will impact people on Main Street. It will take time to change the playing field.
What I find really disingenuous is Trump saying tariffs won't increase prices (they will, obviously, that's the whole point of them) and that "he had a great economy in 2019", implying that prices will drop to 2019 levels. I mean, there are literally voters who think putting Trump in charge will bring prices in stores back down. That's what they mean when "it's a simple choice, prices are too high, vote for Trump."
So implying that it will be cheaper to buy things AND that we will manufacture it all in the US is a lie. I mean, unless workers in the US will be paid the wages Chinese workers get and under the same very lax regulations. Honestly, this is a problem that will take a couple of decades or work to resolve, and several different target areas. Long term planning is not Trump's forte.
As far as injection molding, which I have zero real experience with, I believe most of the mold making is still done in China? That's the sort of core infrastructure business we really need to bring back to the US, and it really could be. Making the machines that make the machines is key.

We sell disposable gloves manufactured in China. The US government raised the tariffs from 7.5 to 50 percent on those being manufactured in China effective January 1, 2025. No one is moving any manufacturing anywhere. All the retailers have already raised the prices in the US preparing to pay higher prices in the future.
Manufacturers in Malaysia have also raised their prices and are making higher margins now.
The US consumer is already paying more!!! The higher tariffs are not even in effect yet!

If I pay 50% on a 100 million dollars of products i import from china, I’m going to add that value added taxes(tariffs) on the products plus my profit before I sell to the consumer. That means the consumer is going to pay for the 50% and not the business owner.
