I just found out about this type of art and I'm honestly heartbroken that its popularity is dying. The unique aspects that make India so diverse are being lost to such generic and frankly, boring mainstream ones. Terrible...
Much love for you and your noble art friends.

Thank you for the love. Personally I think this art style is being revived gradually as the government did support it as mentioned by Rizwan himself, the only thing he and other artists in his locality ask for is to be provided with is a central space for all their art to be showcased and sold.

Can we make this colours at home???

    • @s_anandsurya

Rizwan on the documentary here says that he makes the jelly using castor oil in the forest, because it requires cooking the oil that produces toxic fumes that may even stain the walls of your home. So you can cook the jelly somewhere safe with proper precautions taken, and beat the colors into the jelly at home.

Yeah- They're just pigments. Can be natural, or artificial. You can buy in most art supply store or online. If pigment isn't available, try eyeshadow

Hello! Hope I'm not too late to answer your question 😅😉
The "Jelly" is Castor oil, that has been heated for two days attain a thicker viscosity. And the Colour can be any pigement- Natural or artificial. More colours are available with Artificial which is basically coal tar and other petrochemicals. If you're looking for a modern and easier substitute, try eyeshadow! Haven't tried myself, but it should adhere well with the oil. Hope this helped! Much love!

It emits fumes toxic to humans and needs an isolated space because of this. Thanks for watching. :D
