That was a fabulous vid! Thank you for posting it! I will share it everywhere. The Orca vocals made me cry, and they looked so beautiful too. Gorgeous song as well. I love all of you Orca researchers and Ex-seaworld trainers. You guys rule!
It's official: This is me new all-time favorite orca video. Not just because of the stunning footage, but also because of the AMAZING people involved, the choice of music, the fun editing.... it is a wonderful video, and many thanks, Jeff v for allowing us all to watch it! That made my DAY.
You technically can’t get close to the Southern Residents unless you’re a scientist, but you can absolutely see loads of transient killer whales and I highly recommend it. You can also see humback whales and sea lions snd seals. Definitely an amazing experience.
Wow. I can just never get over how amazing these creatures are. I've never seen them in the wild, and have always wanted to make the trip (and I should, I'm only a province away), but I kinda fear that I won't be able to leave once I see them! Thanks for posting this :)
Ugh. This is why i love orcas ❤️ I’ve been so much into researching seaworld I’ve forgotten what orcas even sound like. I can’t wait to one day go out on the water and orca watch!
Thank you for sharing this amazing video priceless.... What a beautiful memory when coming home. I definitely have to make a trip here.. I was in tears hearing there voices how happy they were free in the sea..... I have a passion for animals and watching this brought such delighted emotions to me... I cry when I hear people hunt them to kill them or to have him at sea world..... These babies are meant to be free in the sea there voices there dancing moves says it all love them 👍👏👏👏💋💋👌👊💖💖💖
The ONLY way we should observe these magnificent orcas!!! In a natural habitat...as they swim together with their families!!!! Sharing to social media! It grieves me to know they are stolen for human entertainment and die unhappy and sick. Look at their beauty and how they are joyful together!!! Thank you to the crew and Dr. Ventre for making this film!!!
When I watch these videos I think, "What keeps the scientists from JUNMPING THE HECK in the water?"..Which is why I am not a researcher~!~ Everything in my heart says, :Jump in and give them kisses, and rub them, and squeeze them..I bet if I really saw them, I would be so overwhelmed with their size and power that I wouldn't think of jumping in..But watching them, I just feel love and power from them! One day I will get to see them in the wild..
Julz Verde I wish I had the power to remove PCB's from their bodies, remove the 100 tons of radioactive materials pouring into the pacific ocean every month. I may never see them in real life, but I feel so attached and just want them to thrive and survival all the time. doing what I can from where I live, just wish I could do more. But I agree, if I as these researchers I'd die with utter joy with being that close to these beautiful creatures.
Julz Verde As adorable as they seem, it is considered highly dangerous for humans to disupt orcas' activities. It can cause harm to both orcas and the humans involve :)
Probably because they know not to disturb them. Still wild animals. Although no harm in the wild. If I was absolutely going to get swarmed by some of them because of how big they are they were afraid. Even though I love them. I’ve never paid for a sea world tickets. I never well. One day they will be gone forever. That’s my wish. More and more people are wishing the same. No more captivity for Them. If you’re Tillicum I don’t think it’s proper. The first time I ever saw sea world show online I just cried. Not right. I eventually watched blackfish cried.
Brilliant! Thank you Jeffrey Ventre for sharing this awesome spectacle of Orcas in the wild, born free, living free. I respect homo sapiens who celebrate the freedom of wildlife.
Their vocalizations are amazing and so playful sounding. My one bucket list is to have a close encounter with live Orca. NOT at satanic SeaWorld, either.
And not with the ones in captivity behind glass tank pool walls. Those orcas are all looking pretty darn sad and swim around in circles or upside down on their backs in SeaWorld.
I actually cried once me and this heart and soul of mine realized that these poor orcas were slaves of SeaWorld, and oh, how I and heart and soul had cried.
Love this video!....thanks so much for putting it together! And thanks go to the researchers for their dedication & hard work...I so much appreciate your efforts on behalf of these wonderful animals! Someday I hope I can come to B.C. myself & see them in the wild, where they all belong! Like Ric O Barry says, "If you want to see the Grand Canyon, you GO to the Grand Canyon" !! Thanks again....you've given me my orca "fix" !
Why go to stupid places like Seaworld when you can watch vids like this...This is how we should view orcas--with respect and awe....In their element in their own vast environment, surrounded by their pod, swimming thousands of miles while singing their song......
The quick shot of the open mouthed calf at the side of the boat, being petted at 9:34, didnt happen off San Juan Island. I believe that was Springer, A73, a 2-year old orphaned solitary Northern Resident calf, when she stationed herself in Puget Sound in the spring of 2002 for six months until she was transported by a fast catamaran to be reunited with her family, A pod, in Johnstone Strait, BC. Springer has fully reunited with her pod and has not approached any boats or humans.
@Onchorhynchus Let me add that this montage is a work of art. The song and orca calls and running realtime narrative and transition stills keep it lively. Its a mesmerizing testament to the lives of free-ranging orcas.
I've always wondered how complex their language is. Like, how many words do they have. How many phrases do they have. As least what we'd call words or phrases.
This is absolutely fantastic. Everything in me would be dying to reach out and kiss one of these beautiful babies right on the rostrum. It's probably a good thing I didn't become a researcher because I would have broken all the rules. Thank you for posting and for continuing to be a voice for the Orcas.
thank you!!! I see your reply only few days ago! thanks to this wonderful video that I started to really love these beautiful creatures...so much that I'm planning my trip in August at San Juan Island! thank you for the work you do and thanks for the knowledge that you give us!
Je n'ai pas de mots pour décrire cette vidéo tellement elle est superbe, magnifique et mieux encore! J'adore les cétacés et pour moi, leur intelligence dépasse la nôtre sans aucun doute!
....And finally thank to your wonderful video I gone there...I will never forget those days! thank you again! and here one video that I created, one of those unforgettable moments at Lime Kiln lighthouse: A Quiet walk under Lime Kiln
How can you tell the difference between them all? Amazing. I understand the dorsal fins are good indications for identifying them. Even so...I see their dorsal finds are all upright and firm, not collapsed. Wow is all I can say....FANTASTIC!
I'm always amazed at how fast people identify them. And then remember the correct letter number combo to boot! I can't remember anyone's name, there's no way I'd rmember J-3226C-bingo! Impressive. As was this video. I love seeing them all together. You can feel their power. They're beautiful animals. Oh and I loved the remark, "I wonder if they'll eat this kayak?" 😆 I do agree with the others about the music. It was very cool, but I'd rather hear the true nature sounds.
These are my favorite Orcas!!! I really want to visit the Southern Residents, but I live on the other side of the country... One day I will do it though!!!
An option is land based whale watching at Point Roberts, WA; San Juan Islands, WA; Saturna Island and Victoria/Vancouver areas and other places. If you take a Whale Watch boat trip please take video and photos of the violations by any company/pleasure boaters to help enforcement agencies. If operators are truly following the rules they should be supportive. Funding for government enforcement is not adequate. The more eyes on the water the more protection there will be for orcas and others.
Have they ever done a study on the approximate lifespans of all the different types of killer whales? Whenever I read a killer whale age study, they focus mostly on the Southern/Northern Residents, usually citing Granny though she is an exceptional case. What about the North Atlantic (where most of Sea World's orcas are from), Transients, Offshore and Southern Hemisphere types? Do they live as long as the Residents?
@giusenkia these images are in the Haro Strait between the San Juan Islands and British Columbia. Go to the Orca Tracker Map to see the exact location.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️😍 no sé por qué se empeñan en verlas haciendo piruetas si así en su ambiente natural son tan relajadas y hermosas, sin ellas mismas en casa, su felicidad es obvia.
I enjoyed the video but held my breath a few times when the whales got so close to the kayaks and the boat. They (the people) seems so vulnerable. I liked the music, too, but it was a bit distracting. I was not sure if the whale sounds were part of the actual video or a part of the music. Can anyone clarify that for me? THANKS!
@Shalesta @Shalesta Thank you dear...I've read your message only now! :( in the meantime I started the search through the link and sublink... and I finally found it! Yes, San Juan and Brithish Columbia! And now I'm trying to organize for the journey in this summer, a favorable moment to admire the Orcas!
Was it my imagination or were those orcas really hanging out by the researchers boat and did they really come over to the boat to be petted? That is too cool for words. I believe they truly enjoy interacting with humans...there have been numerous cases of wild orcas seeking friendship with humans, and it's clear they recognize the researchers.
Pls... Can wild orcas recordings be played at SeaWorld, at a frequency only the captive orcas can hear...to trigger them NOT to perform. To disrupt the circus? When orcas STOP performing... They will be freed.....
Man: this video makes my heart ache. I love these creatures sooooo much. Man If I can Jump in the water to hug and give these babies a hug, I would lol. Their voices makes my heart ache.
I wish the background music wasn't there, the whole point is to listen to the Orca sounds, why add music ??
yeah i thought that too, human artificial sounds have nothing to do with orcas so why!
I know right
You are right. It's a little too loud over the sounds of the orcas
The orca sounds are piped in
That was a fabulous vid! Thank you for posting it! I will share it everywhere. The Orca vocals made me cry, and they looked so beautiful too. Gorgeous song as well. I love all of you Orca researchers and Ex-seaworld trainers. You guys rule!

Dorsal fins straight up as they should be!
It bugs the heck out of me when people insert music to videos as if the video couldn't stand on it's own!!!
This is an exception. Nicely done.
I smile at the sound of their voices. My spirit dances with the grace of their movement, and my heart crys for those in captivity. LJ
So does mine.
Those beautiful orca dolphins belong out in the open ocean happy and free and not in tanks.
Free the orcas.
Why would you want to see them any other way?!? So beautiful!
You technically can’t get close to the Southern Residents unless you’re a scientist, but you can absolutely see loads of transient killer whales and I highly recommend it. You can also see humback whales and sea lions snd seals. Definitely an amazing experience.
I wish the orcas in captivity could be here... all animals in general should be in their natural habitat where God put them.
I agree, but for Orca's bred in captivity many wouldn't survive in the wild
Brilliantly Orcastrated. Total respect for the power and intelligent of the family. Strength in unity.
This is some of the very best orca video I've ever seen of our beloved Southern Residents. Thanks so much!
Wow. I can just never get over how amazing these creatures are. I've never seen them in the wild, and have always wanted to make the trip (and I should, I'm only a province away), but I kinda fear that I won't be able to leave once I see them! Thanks for posting this :)
This is one of the most enjoyable Orca videos I've seen. Don't you just love it when they spy hop? ❤️
Ugh. This is why i love orcas ❤️ I’ve been so much into researching seaworld I’ve forgotten what orcas even sound like. I can’t wait to one day go out on the water and orca watch!
Came back again to watch...love the natural sounds of the orca singing....

I love orcas. I've never seen wild orcas, but I went to SeaWorld when I was 6. One of my fondest memories. Thats where my passion for them started.
Oh I love this, they make the sweetest sounds ever
BEST orca video,Beautiful! I’m OBSESSED with ORCAS!
Brilliant! Thank you Jeffrey Ventre for sharing this awesome spectacle of Orcas in the wild, born free, living free. I respect homo sapiens who celebrate the freedom of wildlife.

EXACTLY 💯
I always wanted to meet a wild orca out in the wild and have an up close encounter with it.
Once I was told the truth by my sixth sense and guardian angel.

emmiesstar Agreed.
Fuck seaworld
I'm thinking to go Victoria Canada instead of Loro Parque
@@sylles-sylles3337 Orcas suffering a lot in captivity
@@Cocoon_Memelord that's why I'll go to Victoria, because I prefer watching them free
I love how close to each other they stay!!
As I watch these beautiful creatures in the wild, I swear my blood pressure goes down!
So beautiful. So majestic! I hope humanity does more to protect these sweet, wonderful creatures.

When is the right time to Kayak with the Orcas? I am going to be in Norway in the end of August
The orcas of Norway are my other favorites;) Have fun.
10 minutes of spiritual bliss. Thank you.
i love this video. all music and orca voices are so deep together
Gorgeous Jeff, thanks for sharing!

My most favourite marine critter is the orca....they make my heart feel like it’s swelling up lol
Who is being petted at 9:30? Lovely video in spite of the distracting music. Just orca song would be better.
Hey that’s L98 Luna
Awesome beauty. I hope to see the end of all Orca captivity in my lifetime.
This is wonderful, and indeed, quite moving.

What is the main purpose of their dorsal fin? I know it differentiates male and female but what does it do for movements of the orca?
The best sounds ever, so relaxing

Why is the new baby orca yellowish in color or is it all the cameras that are off? It’s strange some mutation due to pollution?
