Good morning Angie ❤️ OMG..I am so thankful that I air dry my hair. I can't believe how expensive hair dryers are. I do sincerely appreciate how honest & precise your video is. I want to thank you. In a video awhile back you made comments about whether or not there is an age limit to wearing your hair long. I'm paraphrasing, but essentially you said hairstyle and age are not correlated. And we should wear our hair in a style that makes us feel best. I'm 62 & have 2C-3A curls. I like wearing it curly & have gotten both positive and age-related negative comments. Thanks for encouraging me to be comfortable with my hairstyle. I love your beautiful long tresses ❤️. PS I have the shirt you have on I the gray & white. Purchased via your Amazon shop. I highly recommend this shirt! Have a wonderful day ❤️

@@bnb0510 My understanding is that it depends on how you act dry your hair. For example, going to bed with wet hair is not a good idea because there may be an increase in breakage. I use a leave in conditioner made for air dying my curls. I also use Oleplex #1 & #3 about every 2 weeks. It's supposed to work by strengthening hydrogen bonds (weak bonds). For me this works great, but there was definitely a trial & error period. Good luck

Angie my understanding with the Dyson curl is that you should use it when your hair is almost but not fully dry. Drying your hair with the paddle brush first might keep it from holding curl. I don’t own one but my sister in law curled my hair with a Dyson and she lightly spritzed my hair with a water bottle first (because I started dry). It made pretty tight curls. I can’t attest to how long they hold as I haven’t used it enough. This was a great comparison video! You always come up with good ideas.

I recently got the Shark and I love it. When I style, especially with the flat brush or round brush, I turn down the heat, it's nice you can adjust it. Another thing, the curling attachment is a bit wider than the Dyson one is, so it does a looser curl from the start. Also, I don't have any problem finding the cold shot button with one hand, but that is probably practice. Since I don't have it at the highest heat, it doesn't take as long to cool down for the cold shot. In the end, there was no way I could ever afford a Dyson, but the Shark replaces my blowdrier and hot brush, and for the one time a year I curl my hair, it works, so now I have lots more room in my bathroom cupboard!

I have a shoulder length bob and love the quick gentle blowout I get with the Dyson . I use the oval rough blowout followed by shaping with the fine-hair paddle brush. Another benefit of the Dyson is that the sound is pitched in a way that doesn't seem to bother my dogs (Shiba Inu) as much as my old traditional dryer. They stand still and tolerate a quick blowout after their towel dry now, whereas I used to have to shut the door and chase them around the room. For both the dogs' skin and my own scalp, I like to have the efficient low heat.

I have the newer airwrap from Dyson and love it. I could never get the hang of a curling iron so I fell in love with the airwrap and the curls it makes. I did find I need to use products in my hair for the curls to last. My hair is long and fine. I used the Oribe Royal Blowout heat styling spray. I did have to spray that in my hands then onto the hair because it is pretty intense with some oil but the curls come out shiny and soft. I then just kind of smooshed the curls out - no brushing - sprayed them with ZCommon Magic Myst which seemed to perk up the curls.I slept on my hair, not up and just kind of finger brrushed my hair this morning and my curls are almost as good as when first done. There is definitely a learning curve with what works for everyone with the Dyson but I think that might be the case with any hairstyling tool. I love the Dyson and have fun playing with it. I had to think long and hard about it because of the cost but I am glad I bit the bullet. Just my two cents. Thanks for the informative video!

Hi Angie! I've had the Dyson airwrap for about 3 years now and I absolutely love it. The price tag is high but the value for me is in the experience and the results. I wish they would upgrade the round brush using boar bristles and use the coanda effect. I agree that I would like a bigger version too. I'm 58 years old with hypothyroidism and I'm soooo glad I bought the Dyson. I was having major hair breakage and loss. I was thinking that I was heading to a bald style soon. I have spent a small fortune on hair dryers and irons that were supposed to be better for your hair to no avail. I used several hair repair products suggested by friends, still same issue. I decided to buy the Dyson hairdryer for grooming my Yorkies because of the low heat and fast drying would be easier on my dogs and thought I would try it on myself. Huge improvement. After I saw how much better my hair was doing, I invested in the straight iron for ironing the dogs and for my hair. My hair got even better. This year I invested in the air wrap, and it is what I use for me. The dogs are still groomed with the dryer and the flat iron. I have curly hair and the style holds well for me, but what I appreciate the most is that my hair doesn't look and feel like straw anymore and isn't coming out in large amounts in the shower anymore. For me, the Dyson is worth the investment!

I"ll never fault a woman for spending on a daily use item that makes her feel good. I still love my basic hair dryer and Velcro rollers and I use fragrance free Aqua Net Hair spray but don't tell anyone. ;) II use very little hairspray because they either weigh my hair down or make it brittle. I use little hair spray because it dulls my hair. I'd love to find a hairspray that isn't bad for hair and doesn't require much. My crazy spend are on the skin care serums, hydrators/moisturizers and skin rejuvenation devices so if anyone wants to give me a tsk tsk on what I spend they can for that but I don't care. I keep watching these Shark versus Dyson comparisons . I have the original DYson 3 years ago. I love the air wrap. That Silas two things that Conan my hair and blow dryers. I am naturally curly hair that has small curls when dried naturally. If I use heat either a dryer or a curling iron my hair become frizzy. When I use the curling barrels on the Dyson I leave my hair wet and Dey with the air wrap, cool shop it and then pin curl it as I finish the rest of the hair. If I dry the hair partially and then use the wrap the curl doesn’t set and get frizzy after a few minutes. I’d say at least for my hair using the air wrap on wet hair and also I use a curl enhancing mouse in my hair . I have long hair. Then it stays all week. Don’t dry first, style wet. This all said I bought a Shark limited edition last week so when I use it I will let you know if I like it as much or better.

Thank you for the review Angie. Thorough as always.
I’ve seen some influencers get good results with the Dyson, but they definitely use product to enhance their curl. Who knows how long it’s lasts though.
Would you consider reviewing the Voloom volumizing iron? It looks interesting and I saw an influencer who got great results.
Thanks for all the great content!❤

I have straight hair that doesn’t hold a curl and yet the Dyson works amazingly! Curl holds for days! However, there is NO reason to use the curling wand as the 3rd step- it should be used as a dryer not a curling iron and it makes hair smooth WHILE curling. I’ve been using it for 3 years and it’s amazing!

Love you Angie. I have the same Dyson that you have and have had it for almost 2 years. I love it. I use it for a rough blowout to about 85% dry. Then i use the airwraps and curl/dry my hair all over. I have long blond color treated hair but I only wash 1-2 times a week. My hair is about the same length as yours. I get compliments Every week from people at work including today. I styled/dried my hair Sunday night and have not done anything to it since except brush it. My curls soften over night and gradually through the week but i think the results I get from the Dyson are amazing.

I have both and love my shark way more. It works great on thicker and curly hair. Shark copied and mastered the coanda effect. Dyson is best on fine hair it seems, the Dyson round brush had very little tension on my hair which was so disappointing because I really wanted to love the Dyson. I never expected to like the shark more. At the Dyson price, I should be wowed! I think given a little more time the shark will continue to perfect the way they do with their vacuums.

Cool shot is an important factor for me as well. But I do see that the Dyson is giving you some frizz, but the Shark looks smoother. I do think the cool shot issue is a plus for the Dyson- almost worth the extra money. I still can’t spend that much for a dryer, as my other 2 dyers work well !

Justin Hickox reviewed the Laifen, another Dyson knockoff, and said he prefers that one which is cheaper, too. This always happens with new tech, which is why I am never first in line to buy. I know knockoffs will come along. But i seldom use a hairdryer any more, since it made my thin, fine, chin length hair frizzy. Now it's shiny and healthy without all the heat.

I have the Dyson Airwrap, LOVE IT. No other hair device needed & it's improved the condition of my hair drastically, so in that respect alone it's well worth the money. From very wet hair to styled takes 15 mins. I have the long curling barrels & use them on damp hair, the curl doesn't hold if I curl on dry hair.

Hi Angie,. I have long, straight, lightened hair and have to use a styling product in my hair so that it holds the curl for the day (or more). You may also need to use a flexible hairspray. Styling mousse makes my normally soft, shiny hair hard, un-flexible & un-bouncy. Thermal sprays leave my hair stringy. Today I purchased the John Frieda Air Whipped Foam "Lightweight volume lifting mousse for bouncy, touchable softness". It says that it has "Air'silk technology for fine or flat hair".
For waves/curl use the comfy, fabric covered foam rollers with bendy ends on my hair; leaving them in for a couple of hours for soft waves and overnight for curls & volume...which I can then "brush out" for the Hollywood glamour look. The wave/curl will stay in all week if you make your own setting lotion by boiling up & straining linseeds. You keep the slightly jelly-like liquid in the refrigerator. Only make a small batch if you don't want to add alcohol as a preservative. I don't put in alcohol, but add a drop of rose oil for fragrance. Making your own setting lotion with linseeds is extremely economical and is kind to your hair, as well as being effective. I just bought the John Frieda foam for convenience sake...so hopefully it is a success.

I have watched a few of these Dyson vs Shark as well as Revlon One Step vs Shark videos. It’s holiday sale season so I am in research/hunting mode. I like that we have options and tiers of pricing. I think that getting too hot is a problem for the Revlon & Shark. I DO think the pivoted angle with the Shark is a clever design, but the handle area with the buttons & vents close to one another needs to be revised.
Thank you Angie! I always love to hear your honest reviews. 😎

Hi Angie, thanks for the video! I have short hair so I don't need anything like this, but it's interesting to see what you do with these. I must admit I'm surprised that the Dyson curls fell out after only 6 hours. And I think you made a very important point about not using extremely hot styling tools. These can definitely damage the hair.
I'm too cheap to spend that much on hair tools! Even $250 is a lot of money to me although I suppose it can be justified if the tool lasts for a few years.
And I like that lipstick on you! Red is fun sometimes, isn't it? My favorite red lipstick is the Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Manic. It's bright, but on me, not too bright for everyday wear. And no scent or flavor!
(Note: I don't work for Urban Decay, and I didn't get paid to mention the product. I also don't receive free products to review. )

I watched several other videos doing a comparison just as you have done and they all said the same thing about the Shark cool shot not working well, and the fact that the Shark needs to use 2 barrels compared to the Dyson’s 1 barrel. The only difference in the other videos were they all said that the Shark made better curls then the Dyson and the fact that the Sharks head bends for easier blow drying. I would imagine by next year the Shark will make the updates it needs to so it will be a better comparison. I just can’t see paying $500 or in some cases $600 for a blow dryer.

I love your thorough reviews, Angie. Someone might have already mentioned this, but Dyson has refurbished sets of their original and second versions of their Airwrap available on their website for much less of a cost. I still don't want to pay $400 for the newer version, so I'm just continuing to use my T3, which does a good job and my hair is still pretty healthy.

I have the original Dyson Airwrap and just bought 3 of the new attachments. The new attachments are a clear upgrade. I didn't really believe they would be much better, so I was pleasantly surprised. I did a sloppy version of the Curly Girl Method for a couple years and cannot go back to using a curling iron and straightener. The Airwrap is my compromise. It can't really replace a curling iron. Now that I don't expect it to, I like it better. That said, the long skinny barrels (0.8") are the closest comparison to a curling iron (only needing one barrel is a game changer). I also prefer using it like a curling wand for beachier waves. I find the Airwrap more comparable to a straightener with my new smoothing brush and Coanda smoothing dryer attachments. I did not feel as positive with the original attachments.

Hi Angie, I just wanted to add, your hair is supposed to be a little bit wet when using both of them for styling, and probably why you haven't had the best luck with holding the style. Also, you are far more comfortable with the Dyson, you have been using it for a long time, the shark is brand new to you, and of course will feel awkward. I would bet for anyone who started with the Shark, would likely feel a little awkward find the buttons on the Dyson, that is just how it goes with most people and repetition. Just wanted to add this, bc I don't think it is worth $300 more for the Dyson other than the concerns with the cool shot, every other difference is very minor imho.

I have never been able to curl my hair . Not only is it super straight, I have no talent with a curling iron. Last year I go my daughter and I the original AirWrap with points from Ulta (My hairstylist is in the Salon at Ulta), I tried it once and she took it away from me. I did not watch any videos and had no luck with the brief try I gave it. Well, I saw the new one was coming out and I had enough points for another (I saved my points for years). So I got the new one, watched a couple of videos and had at it. I have never had better hair or more compliments. So much volume! I use it to dry and curl my hair at night and the next morning I just run my fingers through it. I love the new Dyson (for longer hair than the original, so my daughter keeps using the new one, too. But she prefers a curling iron. Kids these days have skills with hair and makeup compared to people my age.)

I like the Dyson because it doesn't damage your hair. I also believe the Dyson has ionic technology. There are many cheaper items out there but the Dyson seems to be better quality. It took me a while to get used to the Dyson. I found I needed to use a styling product with the Dyson for curls if I wanted them to last. Dyson also has interest free credit and you can by additional tools if you need to. Xx
