Night Ranger ROCKS!!! You should hear their songs Don't Tell Me You Love Me and You Can Still Rock in America. Also, if you wanna see another great lead singer/drummer, you really need to see Phil Collins perform In the Air Tonight, the live version. Absolute masterpiece!

Being a teenager and young adult in the 80's, this is the music I grew up with.... Takes me back to better times. The best time of my life!

@CC-qn4ex Me too. I had all their albums up to man in motion on cassette cd and the vinyls themselves and naturally memorized every one of those songs. I went through so many turntables and walkmans. (God I miss Walkmans)

Night Ranger has always been one of my favourite bands since I was a kid in the 80's. Many of their songs get overlooked. A favourite of mine is an unreleased track called Passion Play.

Night Ranger is a great rock band with two lead singers: Kelly the drummer and Jack Blades the bassist. Kelly sings this song and 'Sister Christian'. They alternate leads on my favorite song of theirs 'When You Close Your Eyes'.
Drummers who drum for their bands AND are lead singers: Don Henley of the Eagles, Phil Collins of Genesis, Gil Moore of Triumph, Mickey Dolenz of The Monkeys, and even Karen Carpenter of the Carpenters. Just a few examples off the top of my head and some are co-lead singers of notoriety.
'Sing Me Away' (as I've always took it to mean) was almost exactly what you were talking about at the beginning of the reaction video. It's like 'take me back to a time when things were wonderful; life was simpler; love was new" kinda stuff. Even back then when it came out, that's the vibe I got.

My take has always been. When I want to think back to a better time and place there is always a song I can listen too to take my mind back in time.

  • @jimhook9225
    @jimhook9225 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Sing me Away - explained in the opening "sometimes my hours turn into days". Basically, take me out of my mind, my current reality, back to a place I'd rather be right now. Make me forget everything that complicates my existence now and take me to that simpler place in time. That time when all I worried about was spending time with my school boy crush - the simple unincumbered life of youth.

Alan "Fitz" Gerald, bass guitar 🎸 and keyboards 🎹, was in Montrose. Sammy Hagar was the lead singer. Denny Carmassi, born in San Francisco, was the drummer 🥁. He quit and joined Heart. The late Ronnie Montrose, RIP, was on guitar.
Jack Blades, other lead singer and bass guitar 🎸, and Kelly Keagy, drums 🥁 and lead vocals, Brad Gillis, lead guitar 🎸, were in Rubicon. Brad Gillis also played with Ozzy Osborne but quit after 1 to 2 years. Gillis, Jeff Watson, guitar, and Fitzgerald wete also in Alameda All-Stars. All of them quit in order to form Night Ranger in my hometown San Francisco 🌉.
Suggested video 📹: Night Ranger performs When You Close Your Eyes 👀.
Other drummers who sing lead vocals: 1 the late Levon Helm, RIP (The Band) 2 Jimmy Marinos (The Romantics) 3 John Dittrick (Restless Heart) 4 the late Karen Carpenter, RIP (The Carpenters). 5 Dave Grohl, sometimes (Foo Fighters) 6 Mickey Dolenz (The Monkees) 6 Gil Moore (Triumph) 7 Rick Astley, sometimes .

I saw them in concert, I think it was in 84. They opened for ZZ TOP. It was an awesome concert. After Night Ranger split up Jack Blades joined up with The motor city madman Ted Nugent, Tommy Shaw of Styx, and Michael Cartellone who is currently the drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd, to form the band Damn Yankees.
Don Henley was the drummer for the Eagles, he also was the lead singer on a lot of The Eagles songs.

I listened to Night Ranger while growing up in the 80's. Then one of my friends joined them as their keyboardist in 2012. I was surprised they were still around, since i'd heard they disbanded while he and I were in high school, but they got back together in the early 90's and have been going strong since. Still constantly touring -- Eric's always posting pics from the tours on his FB page and it's been fun to see where his journey's have taken him, and they even released a new album just a couple of years ago, so theyr'e not just resting on their laurels either.

Growing up in the 80s, I can confidently say there was no better time to grow up than this era. We just wanted to have fun, didn't want to hurt anyone, and weren't concerned with stupid political stuff in everyday life. Music, style, TV, and movies reflected this outlook all the time. I am so sad that my children have grown up in today's world. It's just a bad time to be around, much less growing up with all of the pressures and confusion they have and everyone is scared of their own shadows. It's almost impossible for kids to have an actual fun-loving childhood now. I really miss the simplicity of the 80s. Glad to see others enjoying this better time of life.

Why do so many people act like it violates the laws of physics when a drummer sings as he plays?
It is just like a guitar player singing, or a piano player singing.

Britt these guys were so incredibly talented, yes Kelly sang a lot of the lead vocals but Jack Blades did most of them, the thing is, they had a lot of great songs and I have talked to a lot of guitar players they don't cover Night Ranger because Brad Gilles and Jeff Watson's abilities to intertwine and be seem less makes bands scared to try.

You say “wrong song” on about two thirds of your comments (Bonnie Raitt & Sugarland just to name two). Why don’t you start your own reaction channel and do all the right songs since you seem to have declared yourself to be the ultimate authority on the “right song” for every band that ever existed. 😁
