I hate that we get cheated out of fighting #1 though. Jeane could have stolen the kill if Dark Star's health was low enough. That way would have been better.
You know, this theme is a bit more twisted and darker compared to the other NMH tunes. It might be possible that this music is representing what the state of Travis' mind is like after discovering everything surrounding Jeane and the tension Travis is facing while fighting Jeane. You know? Like Travis' mind is saying "Oh shit, what just happened? How is this possible?"
It's tense not only because of the state of Travis' mind at that moment, but also because of the claustrophobic battle stage after Jeane summons Dark Star's beam dragon to surround both of them
Unlike most of the other themes which are usually more grand and upbeat, this theme is somber and ominous, probably to represent how grounded and important this battle is. Jeane isn’t just another assassin who kills others for their own gain, she did because of the pain she went through in her entire life to get to this point. This is also, to my knowledge, the only boss theme without the normal No More Heroes leitmotif, because there really are no more heroes. In fact, there never were to begin with.
I think Dark Star was hired by Sylvia to pretend he was Travis's father, knowing that Jeane would come for him... He tries to make Travis remember what the whole scheme was about, after all...
I love how this is a twisted and dark version of what Travis's battle theme usually is. Not only shows the connection of being his sister but how tragic she is and how much she's fallen.

Yet when I checked the official OST, I found nothing relating to this song. Even after spending hours of playing it, going through them fully, I oddly cannot find anything relating to this. I still think I heard it from the game than anywhere else. Anyways, I'm wrong either way and I feel disappointed because I really feel like I've heard parts of the song from somewhere. Especially 1:57.
If There was a special edition, it would have these changes: -Dark Star would be the bad ending boss. and Jeane being the good ending boss. -You could fight Letz Shake [Beacause henry would fit killing destroyman] -Shinobu would have 2 Forms. -An Extra boss if you beat Holly Summers WITHOUT Dying. -ANOTHER Difficulity setting after Bitter: Salty
I like how this is (what's initially assumed to be) the final boss' theme and instead of being some high-speed rock or techno beat is a surprisingly calm melody muffled out by somber industrial noise, in the middle of an empty desert, it really does elevate the meaning of this fight: Travis' memories of the girl he loved became tainted by the brutal murder of his parents at her hands (with further conflicting emotions at the revelation that she was his sister all along and that their father was an absolute monster)
I was under the impression that Dark Star was a cut boss battle due to time constraints, and the castle would have been its own level. Imagine knight assassins being hard to kill in iron armor.
Jeane and Bad Girl were the hardest bosses for me. Their last phases are pure HELL! Henry and all the guy bosses were pathetically easy though. All the bosses had great music though especially this one!
I feel like have Dark Star be fought like it’s phase one and just when you think the second phase is gonna start after the cutscene then Jeane shows up. To make it harder you only have one health kit in the ring so if you use it too early, your in trouble when fighting Jeane.
I was so happy to find a specific way to make Jeane dizzy every time she did that charging attack only to find out she breaks you're arm if you try to grab her. But Jeane wasn't really that hard (nor any of the bosses). They just took alot of time and patiences. And yes I played on bitter.
I'm a bit curious on how the battle would have gone down had you given the chance to both fight Dark Star, and Letz Shake. Awesome Song btw! I've also noticed that the female assassins had the coolest theme songs. The male's theme songs were great also, but I have to give it to the girls.
It saddens me to think that we likely never see NMH3. What saddens me even more is that destroy man got brought back after being cut in half, but we couldn't get cyborg jeane up in there. Edit: I'm pretty pumped about NMH3, especially because I met him at momocon and kindly suggested that if he's DBZing characters then bring back Jeanne. He welcomes fan input, so who knows.
Honestly if you need something to scratch that suda51 itch you should really check out some of his older works, we unfortunately don't have all of them in english but games like FSR and Moonlight Syndrome are really cool

I always waited for her to doing her combo and stood in front of her JUST ENOUGH to not get hit by her ridiculously short-ranged finisher. All I did was charging up my katana on ''High'', and hit her, then combo'ed her. I still thought this was along with Henry one of the most epic battles in the game.

out of all the weapons that the bosses use in the original no more heroes, which would u use in a battle? i personally would use Death Metal's Orange II.
if timed correctly, the dragon should reach you while you are pulling the new sword out, and it will do this wierd spiral upward. then it should start to come back down as you turn the new sword on, hopefully giving you enough time to run away. keep a lockon ryuji, and keep the c-stick in a 5 or 7o'clock position. this way, you'll be running away from the dragon AND keep enough distance between you and ryuji to make his charge attack ineffective.
@happsider what of it? you still have to unlock the REAL ending. the final boss of a linear story (i.e. No More Heroes) is the last boss that the story itself leads up to. the reason why Henry doesn't count as the "final boss" is because it is possible to not fight him. take a game like...any 2D sonic game. if you don't find all 7 chaos emeralds, then you beat eggman in the last zone, and then it's over. then after the credits, it will say "Try Again" as if you didn't really win at all.

i got Jeane on my first try some how. i think this was cause i was really determined after hearing sylvia talk to me after i was think in my head how much of a traitor she was, and how Jeane said "go on im the last one" and that made me realize...no mercy
Most of us defenseless points is when she is just finished with her attack. Like when she does that combo that ends with a kick and a aura shield. I slash her once then roll out the way cause she will counter/dodge the rest. The best time to attack is when she charges up and come with that running attack. When she misses instead of slashing her do a unarmed move with B which will make her dizzy but DO NOT grab her to slam her cause she will break ure arm. Just slash her like 2-3 times and roll.
Technically this fight shouldn’t have happened though right? Cause Jean killed the guy we were supposed to kill so it’d be like that one “fight” with Henry idk actually and if anyone could clear this up that’d be great
The way I see it, the only reason Sylvia stopped the fight between Travis and Henry is because she didn't want his husband to accidentally tell Travis he's married to her, since she's manipulating Travis with the promise of sleeping with her.
I wanted Helter Skelter to be a battle too :/ you know whats weird, I just looked on wikipedia and the person who voiced Helter Skelter voiced Letz Shake as well.
i think we can all agree that Jeane was a far more fitting final boss than Jasper. i mean, Jeane is Travis' sister, she killed his mother and father, and she was rank one. and the moment when you kill her had an amazing impact. however, Jasper was just a lunatic 12-year old with rediculous attacks and character who killed Bishop because Travis apparently killed his father. now, if Jasper Batt senior was the final boss of the first game, that would've changed everything. just my honest opinion.
@axel170691 the other two hidden ones are around the exit. instead of moving onward to the cutscene, hug the walls of the room, and you will find them. i'm going to guess that the one you missed for holly is the one at the very beginning. instead of moving forward toward the barbed wire fences, follow the wave line backwards. it will be guarded by gunmen and brawlers. hope that helps.
My God, you must be brilliant. Doing it on Mild (yeah, I did it on gayfish first time round) and I'm frickin stuck on BG AGAIN. We were both down to a few health points, and she went and set me on fire. T_T

just an opinion about the description, dark star should have been fought just before jeane, and a checkpoint reached after you defeat dark star, followed by jeane coming up and killing him and the next fight commencing... THAT would have at least done dark star some justice

Letz Shake would have made an awesome fight, and Dark Star, too. I think Suda screwed us over! Jeane was sooo annoying. But wow, what a great game... I sure hope they make a sequel.

hear me out. when ryuji takes that stance to summon the dragon, you run away from him for a good 1-1.5 seconds, then get the sword menu ready, and wait for the dragon to come out. when the dragon is summoned, wait no longer than .5 seconds and switch to a sword, preferably peony because of it's sturdy battery.

As soon as you see the arrows, but you gotta be quick and it doesn't always work due to the occasional unresponsiveness of the Wiimote. Still, I think it is best not to try grapples unless you're sure that you can nail her with them.

I think this was probably the fastest - paced battle in the game. I loved it. And I loved the fast foward scene XDDDDDDDD.

hear me out. when ryuji takes that stance to summon the dragon, you run away from him for a good 1-1.5 seconds, then get the sword menu ready, and wait for the dragon to come out. when the dragon is summoned, wait no longer than .5 seconds and switch to a sword, preferably peony because of it's sturdy battery.
They already pulled that sorta thing when Hentry killed the german guy with the giant brain robot death beam thingy.
