That last KA-50 pilot is going to get the highest award given to military pilots for damaging an A-10 and forcing it to escape without loosing his helicopter. Press Master Mode Button Long (Over .5 Second) to activate Air to Air Mode, then Coolie Hat up-short (quickly) to make the HUD Sensor of Interest (SOI). This is just a terrific video - one of your best. The attack on the base going on while an A-10 launches to mow down some helicopters. Doesn't get much better than that for action! Thanks, GS! Love A-10 shows!
The idea that the A-10 could take an anti tank weapon hit is ridiculous. It's simply physics that a plane can't be as resistent as a tank, not even close. The only reason to survive an ATGM is to not get hit by it. It would slize through it like through butter, there would be pretty much no resistance.
@@miriamweller812 That depends entirely on the angle of the hit. ATGM warheads are very focused in the axial direction to punch through armour. If the angle was slightly off, the damage to the A-10 would be from a relatively small amount of shrapnel as the missile is blown apart, and not the shaped charge itself. OTOH, A/A missiles are designed to throw large amounts of fragments all around for maximum coverage.
@@No1sonuk It's still very doubtful an A-10 could actually weather it. They got chewed up by even bullets during Desert Storm, much less SAMs. That's why F-16s had to take over for their missions. It'd be cool to have a fixed wing cross paths with a helicopter, like 2 factions on separate missions crossing paths then a fight to the death. Then a hunter killer style trials would be fun, helix high fixed low vice versa

Hi there. I've been binging your videos for the last couple of weeks and I'm learning a lot mate, thanks for the content. One simple and maybe silly question. Are pedals necessary to play DCS? I suppose the answer is "depends" but can a joystick or a HOTAS cover that functionality?
1 F-22 Raptors vs. the entire Lebanese Air Force Next? I’m talking about its Hawker Hunters, Embraer EMB 314, Cessna 208, de Havilland Vampires, and everything else if you want to do more research about it.
I think why you survived that ATGM is beacause - as you said - ATGM's are designed to penetrate and destroy tanks. Therefore they don't pack as much of an explosive punch as AAM's of a similar weight class do, as ATGM's use a chemical HEAT-style warhead to penetrate armour. Those HEAT-warheads utilise explosions to create a supersonic, molten jet of copper that can pierce through armour like butter. But of course, because of this specialization, they don't have the explosive mass of an AAM, and they also don't explode as violently or with much shrapnel (other than the body and components of the missile).
In other words, it punched a neat hole through the A-10. Because it didn't take out the A-10, it was presumably a hole through a less critical part of the A-10.
I've a question. When engaged in long range missle combat. You fire then dive and notch to make the missle maneuver and fly into denser air making it lose energy. If you knew how long the rocket burned on the missle wouldn't it be better to gain altitude after you have brought the vampire into the denser air? Then it would be fighting gravity and lose more energy as it tried to gain altitude. A missle with no motor has no way to accelerate.
"Uhh, so I don't know how to say this... um... I fought another Ka-50, and uh... you see... it did not end well... I would... like....... another......... A-10."

The USAF is considering upgrading the Sniper Pod to lock multiple targets at the same time for volley firing the APKWS. THAT would be a game-changer and would make the Warthog the #1 parts distributor of the KA-52.
