'"Supersalt" it is not coated in regular salt at all which is Sodium Chloride (NaCl), this is coated in Ammonium Chloride (NH4Cl) Hence the special smell of it. Ammonium Chloride aka Salmiak is what you add to licorice to make salt-licorice. It is also often used to flavour things like cough syrup. Haribo (german brand) makes the best salt-licorice, such as piratos, saltskruvar och saltbomber, sadly they have become extinct on store shelves, but you can still find them in a few places online. I'm old-school, so Cheese Doodles, the secret is that they are actually a lot tastier when they are.. I believe stale is the term. So open the bag, put them in a bowl, and leave them alone for a few days (depending on how moist the air is) till they become a bit chewy. Intensifies the taste, and they don't coat your teeth nearly as badly as the fresh ones do. Linsbågar is actually very tasty, superior to the classic cheese doodle in many ways.
Ammonium Chloride and Licorice root are traditionally added to cough syrup because they are cough suppressants. Together with Bromhexidine you get the Victorian recipe for cough syrup.
Finally a swede that explains what it is and how to eat it. All "non-swedes tries swedish things"-videos seems to lack instructions. Like I've seen americans eating knäckebröd with nothing on it, not even butter, and complaining that it's dry.
Wow that was by far the most neutral reaction to salty licorice I´ve seen from a foreigner. You must have a little viking blood in you! Nice. I can´t live without salty licorice.
The look of the "bilar" sweets is actually based on a real German car prototype design. I was very surprised the first I saw a picture of it. I felt an urge to eat it. The car, that is, not the picture.
I agree with you, I think that I can distinct them from eachother with closed eyes(but it is not easy) BUT... the company that makes them say that the only differency between the colors are the coloring. So I don't know if the coloring have some kind of taste or if it is just imagination.
I think I killed my tasted buds because all Swedish sour candy for me just taste sugary no sour at all. But maybe because living all my life in Sweden and eaten so much sour candy i´m like immune.

You bought Malaco stjerner(stars) and not Malaco Snören(strings), the stars are thicker and shorter while the strings are... well strings.
Hahaha “the strings are…well strings” 😂😂 that explains the confusion hahaha thanks!
never seen "stjerner" up north
The salt being used on liqorice is salmiak or ammonium chloride whilst table salt is sodium chloride.
OMG thank you so much!!! I’ll tell my friend too 😂❤️
ah, you actually beat me to it by 10 hours hah :) but I had already written it when I spotted this so I'll let it stand anyway.

My wife (she's Nigerian) loves salty liquorice. It's the only salty thing she likes. Everything else has to be stuffed with chillies.
Yeah!, this is the best way to let a foreigner taste our amazing tasty sweets. We show that it's not so dangerous with sweet and sour =) Good video!
How was it tasting new stuff
It was so fun! Trying new foods is one of my favorite things to do when I travel so I loved making this video. Thank you for asking, girl 🥰
