This was super helpful to me - thank you so much! We have a cow that broke a horn and we need to get her in a head gate and use a halter to hold her steady while we care for it - and this was exactly the tutorial I needed to make our own!
Tim, I'd like to say thanks for this video, years after it was released, as we're picking up three 5 month old calves tomorrow and I was looking for a solution to my halter needs. Cheers mate, good one. 👍
Putting on a cow show and making these to give out. Thank you so much! Perfect tutorial.. I only wish I could figure out how to have a cleaner burnt end but these halters are perfect!
i have been searching so many videos and links, and this one is by far, the best i have seen, the most simple explanation and i thank you for your time and video
Very good video. Very well explained. Subbed and Liked. Your halter design could also fit a foal or small pony. And horse just increase the rope length / dementions. Thanks from Ireland, Mark.
Only if you tie it with a certain knot so that the lead is central under the jaw, I knot my farrier once showed me, which I promptly forgot and am now trawling TH-cam searching for it!

is there a way i can tie a rope for a wild cow thats running around?
How long of a piece of rope will I need to make a halter for a 3 month old beef calf?
Tim Thompson ok thanks!
Are there any videos for how to tie it so that the lead is central? I think I was told a chuck knot? But I don’t know how to do one.
So how do you do this when you are using a rope that you can't unravel into strands....
Every video I have found uses a rope with twisted strands.
Use netting clips

They work good for horses also
How long for a baby calf or should I follow the sheep one
Sheep or a little bigger
Thank you Tim it helps me. Gonna apply to my cow : Great job! subscribe to your channel too :)
Yay I am gonna go make this right now ! Thx
How thick is the rope? I have 4mm?
6mm
Very useful!
Cheers Mate.
Will this work for a 8 month old goat???
Our female luckily don’t have big horns just yet but our boy has horns but they are about medium height
For the adjustable side, could I cut and burn it to make it shorter since they are pretty short lol I don’t want the adjustable part dragging lol
Would this work for a horse or pony?

You said it's not used with horses, why not
Tightens around nose when head lifted.
