    i really just want to thank you for a sec, i started out with animation about a year ago (august 2014) after watching you're animation vs animator episodes and i am still animating today, in flash and alot of stop motion shorts, im even making a stop motion animation for the Morph animation competition, thank you alot, you have probubly shapped my carrear and these tutorials make it look brighter.

    This is probably my favorite principle because of how well it can make an action feel “intentional” and stylistic at the same time. It makes something more visually satisfying and easy to read.

    As an animation student who’s been busting her ass just to scrape by, thank you for these. I had a critique today that really got me bummed out even though I know it’s nothing personal. My arcs apparently suck much more than I thought they did and I’m worried about flunking the class. This video (and also a bit of crying lol) helped clarify things and relit the fire under me. Time to get through this semester or die trying!

    So basically arcs are more useful in character animation in follow throughs? I can see how it also applies to most movements as our limbs are joined by rotators which allow us to move in arc-like/circle-like movements.

    What the difference between squash & stretch and arcs

    • @name6953
      @name6953 ปีที่แล้ว

      For moving things, you use arcs. For living beings, the arc is made in a circular movement. This makes it look realistic.
      However for Squish & Stretch, when you squish something it gets thinner, and you stretch something it gets wider.

    Why do a lot of television animators seem to forget about this? Are arcs too expensive?
    Seriously, DHX Vancouver clearly use arcs but Disney television animation and cartoon network studios do not. Why?are arcs part of the layout stage? That would make sense, considering that DHX Vancouver is one of the few studios today that use layouts in their animation.

    Hey Alan I know you don't do subscriber requests on this channel but I'd love it if you could help me out here. I'm doing an Animation for a project and in my Animation I have a guy firing a Ray Gun towards the wall and a portal be created from where the ray gun hit the wall and expand to be a bit bigger and have multiple swirling rings of different colours (just yellow and light orange) around it, I've had a few attempts but I can't get it to look right, I'm pretty bad with Shape Tweens so I can't get it to look that good. I only need to do this the once so I can then duplicate it to have him coming out of a portal on the other side. Any help would be much appreciated.
