I am 77 and still playing 2 to 3 nights every week with guitar and backing tracks including 3 Ricky songs. He was one of my inspirations to perform in every decade since 1958. The most underated artist in American pop music ever.
Like elvis beautiful face beautiful voice But he only plays by chords And who plays riffs solo ir technical part of the song....james burton a real guitarist.
Burton is one of the best guitarists. He’s the one who got me interested in playing all those years ago. It’s a shame that when he started playing a solo the camera shot away so we could watch someone pour a drink.🙄
My papaw use to sing this to me. I only remember a few lines. That was over 40 yrs ago. Can't believe I'd never thought to finding it here..til now. "Get along home Cindy, Cindy"
what a beautiful time period. the people were so modest and glamorous and attractive look how genuinely happy the world looked around this time. the music was amazing the people were attractive i wish i lived in this era
Yeah that beautiful time of lynching, segragtion, and police beatings. Black People must've been so happy back then because *checks notes* people dressed nice
Unforgotten music of the 1950s and 1960s is played far too seldom today, with Ricky Nelson, Paul Anka and many more. Movie stars like Lana Turner, Esther Williams, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Leslie Caron, Thelma Ritter, Gene Kelly.
my 90 year old grandpa is in the hospital, there was a nurse named cindy, she was not in the room but he started singing the first part of that song, I never heard it before, it came out in 1938 by bob wills
This is great. Ricky is a great performer and SO darn CUTE (I prefer not to think of him as dead). What a life James Burton has had, too. I bet he has lots of stories he could tell.
Ricky looked fucking awesome! What a guy! It's crazy to see how formal these rockstars were back in the day. Been listening to rockabilly for almost 12 years now and I barely noticed. 🙂
I wish I was a apple hangin' in a tree. And everytime my sweetheart passed. She'd take a bite off me. She told me that she loved me. She called me sugar plum. She threw her arms around me I thought my time had come. Get along home, Cindy Cindy. Get along home, Cindy Cindy. Get along home, Cindy Cindy. I'll marry you sometime. I wish I had a needle. As fine as I could sew. I'd sew her in my pocket. And down the road I go. Cindy hugged and kissed me. She wrung her hands and cried. Swore I was the prettiest thing. That ever lived or died. Get along home, Cindy Cindy. Get along home, Cindy Cindy. Get along home, Cindy Cindy. I'll marry you sometime.
I have always liked Rick and his songs When I was growing up he was my idol . I was an adult and when he was killed I cried like I knew him but I grew up watching him on Ozzie and Harriet shows and I went to every concert he gave when living in San Diego
MUSIC FROM HAPPIER TIMES ! ! ! .........RICKY and his family were the "GREATEST" ! ! ! ! ......THANKS FOR SHARING ! ! sincerely, Ralph Ithaca, N.Y. U.S.A.
Music fine of Ricky Nelson. Gracias Rick por tu Gran Talento y Simpatia, tengo un Cd con tus Exitos. Espero que JEHOVAH GOD te alla puesto en un mejor lugar. Thank you my friend. ====
I lived through those days, and my Mother always insisted on looking nice wherever we went, even shopping. I still try to make a decent appearance in a 2020 way. I sure don't miss wearing those stockings (before the invention of pantyhose), though.
I remember so many times listening to Ricky singing this song. LOL I just don't remember the last verse. Cute. And I always thought this was a lover's song.
Get this I grew up watching Ozzie & Harriet with the parents and Ricky Nelson& David also there. wife's Chris & June, I named my son Ricky after Ricky Nelson
Angelic face. Beautiful looks and great voice. Ricky were a lovely man and soooooo HANDSOME

That's awesome you still keep up with your passion for music. 😊 If only I could do that with my writing 😒
You are not old yet ? I have been playing guitar since the 50's
rock steady .
William Cole, I just seen your post, it states, 3 years old. I hope to God your in good health and still around!!!!! God Bless
Which three Ricky songs you play?
This guy had it all. Great voice, great back guitarists (James Burton). Shame he died too young.
Like elvis beautiful face beautiful voice
But he only plays by chords
And who plays riffs solo ir technical part of the song....james burton a real guitarist.
He did die too young. He was handsome and a good singer. He was my favorite back then.
Ricky, Elvis, Jim Reeves, Buddy Holly and many more people died too young........
.....and a 1958 Plymouth Fury
Burton is one of the best guitarists. He’s the one who got me interested in playing all those years ago. It’s a shame that when he started playing a solo the camera shot away so we could watch someone pour a drink.🙄
I love both Ricky and Elvis. They're like twin or two peas in a pod. They sing beautifully and with passion.
Elvis and Ricky was friends
I especially love this song as my name is Cindy.
I like the audience. Looks like they're having nice clean fun.
Does anyone know anyone in the audience?
Ricky was smiling in this song! Great smile too.
My papaw use to sing this to me. I only remember a few lines. That was over 40 yrs ago. Can't believe I'd never thought to finding it here..til now. "Get along home Cindy, Cindy"
Ricky was always well dressed and well groomed. He had a very clean cut look and his music was also clean and full of love messages.
what a beautiful time period. the people were so modest and glamorous and attractive look how genuinely happy the world looked around this time. the music was amazing the people were attractive i wish i lived in this era

dkfelix doesn’t matter
Yeah that beautiful time of lynching, segragtion, and police beatings. Black People must've been so happy back then because *checks notes* people dressed nice

What a crowd! The fans really made that show.
Would be nice to live in that time
Love all his versions especially the one in the movie Rio Bravo after his duet with Dean Martin.
Unforgettable.
🏜️
And the inmemorial Walter Brennan ❤ playing the harmonica.
He will always be the 'teenage idol' 😀💕 i love his music and i love him too 👀
No modern singer can ever be as good as the old ones.
False but whatever floats your boat.
All of us used to "swoon" over him! Only way to put it! He was so cute and knew we would never see him!
I'm crazy about him and he has been dead for years.
Rick is magnificent, wonderful, very handsome ....... and many more in this video ! Great thanks !
Happy to share :)
Nice with a Country Twist. It's a great song. This was a song we'd sing in Elementary School back in the 60's. I didn't know that Ricky sang it.

I was born in 1958, and I remember hearing this song on the radio right after I popped out of my Mom's womb!

I was just 15 at this time & a big fan of Rick Nelson’s music, which is so underrated. 🥴
my 90 year old grandpa is in the hospital, there was a nurse named cindy, she was not in the room but he started singing the first part of that song, I never heard it before, it came out in 1938 by bob wills
Actually it's an old folk type song. There are probably hundreds of different verses to it that have been composed by different people over the years.

legendary singer,
We had “music class” when I was in elementary school in the 60’s and this is one of the songs we learned to sing.

She threw her arms around me
I thought my time had come.

People sure dressed nice back then.. Makes me feel a little bit like a dirt bag haha!
Lol I agree. Why don't we bring men's and ladies hats back? They were so cool
Yes they dressed alot better back in the day.
John Hayward nice clothes were a LOT cheaper too lol
They wore suits and dresses to major league ball games ... wonder when that stopped?
I lived through those days, and my Mother always insisted on looking nice wherever we went, even shopping. I still try to make a decent appearance in a 2020 way. I sure don't miss wearing those stockings (before the invention of pantyhose), though.
