They also did a really beautiful ballad as a tribute to their parents called Our Decades In The Sun. It was on Endless Forms Most Beautiful.🤘👍

I just did some research. It turns out I am wrong. They are indeed Whistles. Whistles are like the Irish variation of recorders. They are from the same instrument family as recorders. Troy plays the low whistle and the tin whistle in the song Elan (Elan is long eeeeee, but pronounced as aaaaa).

All those years the fans were crying and begging him to come back and save Russian heavy music 😂 A month ago he has announced his new band together with 2 other musicians from the « golden » Amatory’s line-up. So you can see there how happy are the fans to see all of them together after all those years =) But now he is playing only white metal, in God he trusts, so it’s quite specific but still very good 🤟🎸🔥
Request, one I didn't expect much from and it is from their back catalog "Meadows of Heaven". This is with 2nd singer Annette on it and actually her voice was perfect for it. (Still Floor my favorite by huge margin). You know how Tuomas's songs and lyrics evoke deep emotion, this one does for sure. There's maybe one song in their first album Angels Fall First, where you can say - nah, they didn't quite make it: Nymphomaniac Fantasia. At least Tuomas himself said he wasn't happy about it, and I've listened to it and won't start arguing with him. The lyrics got too wordy and fancy, and on the other hand it shines through that life experience was maybe not ready for the theme. Think he also sang in Carpenter - which was OK in my mind. But it made him decide that he's not going to sing for a record or live - just as a 'lay person' I guess. The song itself, Carpenter, sounds to me a bit like college kids playing their selfmade sweet song for a school evening or home meeting :) That first album has versatile songs, they are not all metal.
As one happy subscriber I'd like to suggest this new female fronted German band with angelic vocals and a song that is so emotional for anyone having suffered a loss: ENEMY INSIDE - "Dark Skies" (Official Acoustic Session) th-cam.com/video/4DbuJk5-i24/w-d-xo.html I do this as I believe you're not doing your reactions to maximize the number of views, but for love of great music. The word "Elan" exists in the German language as well, meaning exactly the same what you already explained
I thinke "poise" would be a reasonable translation. Elan is also used in Dutch, allbeit not too common.

I thinks troy plays two types of recorder on this song. A tenor recorder and a soprano recorder.
