    I just love you Mr. O'Rourke! Have bouts of depression and I love to paint. But when I am in one of my depressions it seems overwhelming to do anything. You 10 minute videos are life savers for me and I appreciate you so much! I feel so much better just laying some color on canvas with you!

    Do you use damp brush every time you dip in the paint? I'm having a hard time keeping my paint/canvas wet for longer time, making it more challenging to blend.

  • @ItsDan123
    @ItsDan123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know it's an older video but when describing the base color you mention that the red/blue/black/white will lighten the color and desaturate it, but you then mentioned you do this because you want the initial color to be a bit darker?

    • @tarasahay8639

    Good job..
    Did you mix the acrylic paints with water?? Or u just use m as they are?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do mix with water quite frequently. In fact, my brushes are almost always damp with the exception of the old square/flat headed brush. When you want to make a lot of impressions with a single stroke/tap water hurts the process as it condenses bristles and makes them stick together. I would recommend watching my latest 10 minute painting as I demonstrate how I work with water.

  • @seanhawkins8158

    When you use the old square headed brush is it wet or dry?

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's generally dry. When wet the bristles tend to stick together and you loose a bit of the detail. Hope that helps!

  • @TheGeekMonster
    @TheGeekMonster 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you let every layer dry in between? Every time I try to do one of these tutorials, I wind up with a huge muddy mess of colors running together :-/ I can't figure out how to smoothly blend acrylic paint at all! I wind up with streaks and lines... sigh.
    Are you swapping brushes between colors? Or washing them? How do you not have all the colors running together?!

    • @hendricklamar5061
      @hendricklamar5061 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What would happen if you painted the whole canvas first and then add the cliffs ??

    • @RyanORourkeArtist
      @RyanORourkeArtist  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You may actually end up with a slightly better painting if you painted the entirety of the background first. Through this method you can easily avoid awkward edging on both the sky and cliffs. It may take a little bit of additional time but I think it could really be worth it :)

    • @kimberlycantor25
      @kimberlycantor25 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stay Creative Painting I'm going to try you way first. I only say that because Bob Ross did the background first.
