Thank you so much, Cris, for continuing the X-Men reviews!! While I understand and it was freaking awesome that you had got invited for the red carpet event for Deadpool and Wolverine, it's great to see your thoughts on the remaining X-Men movies!!
I wish Dark Phoenix had its third act take place in space like it was supposed to, but since Captain Marvel came out first and had a space battle, people would have said Dark Phoenix copied Captain Marvel. The potential was there, but the Fiery Phoenix fizzled out by the hands of Fox
Finally I have found a brother. From its release I've said that I enjoyed Dark Phoenix more than Apocalypse and that I actually thought the movie was good. And people called me crazy. But it's refreshing to hear someone else think the same. Great vid. Keep up the good work, Chris.
Unpopular opinion about Dark Phoenix: I found Simon Kinberg's direction pretty solid He was able to give the movie an identity of its own rather than trying to replicate Bryan Singer's direction Unlike Brett Ratner, who tried to do that in The Last Stand
I really love x-men days of future past I watched it in theaters when it first came out it's my favorite out of all the x-men movies also W cyclops costume Cris 🔥 hope you're doing great
I really dislike what the movies after the first trilogy did with Mystique. They completely mischaracterized her and put her in a narrative position Mystique would never be in in the comics because of her character.
What I love the most about the X-Men movies is the fact that they never tried to follow the MCU's formula or its tropes, especially after it became a trend They never relied on nostalgia, the tone always kept consistent, and they always focused on the present And Dark Phoenix kept that way They kept their sense of individuality. Even the score was different in each movie
Simon Kinberg might not be a good writer, but you can bet that he's a great producer It's because of him that we got movies like FIRST CLASS, DEADPOOL, and LOGAN In fact he was the one that pitched Matthew Vaughn to direct First Class
@@DanielKariuki-er5gi The team of people responsible of making sure everything falls into place for a project to get made. The put in the money and the necessary pieces, sometimes even design the overall plan. The director merely executes it to the best of his/her abilities.
This is off topic but I’m so thankful for the marvels post credit scene. Because of it I went and rewatched all these movies just in time for Deadpool and Wolverine ontop of getting into xmen 97. I am so In love with xmen currently and I fully thank the marvels for pushing me to that.
I am so happy someone agrees with me about the dark Phoenix. I really do not hate that movie. It’s hated for some good reasons, but it is definitely overheated
0:49 I like to think of it as a prequel because when Cosmonaut Variety Hour reviewed every single X-Men movie he said that they took place in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and he's right because I didn't finish X-Men Apocalypse last night but one of the women in that movie said "Welcome to the 80s" and the entirety of Days of Future past is about time travel and the past versions of Professor X and Magneto are played by the actors who played them in First Class.
Dark phoenix would’ve been a good movie if the studios didn’t interfere, with the original script but they needed to change the script because of captain marvel 🤷🏽♂️
idk if this is a hot take but i far prefer first class over days of future past. I think DOFP has a peak first half but really loses so much steam in the back half while first class gets better each act with a 3rd act that feels well earned and not overly done. DOFP does have the advantage of having the more titular characters but I far prefer the story between charles and erik in first class, it had so much substance and gets to me every single time.
Thanks 3c for all of your amazing videos and for putting a ton of effort to get this phenomenal video out, I promise this is the last pay comment on your non live stream videos make I just want to show my support for all of your hard work you made! 😊
Bryan Singer should've left the franchise after DOFP Because since he already gave everything he had with DOFP, it was a lot harder for him to outdo himself again
Bro you are officially thee goat u hit the Kong griddy for me awhile back and now both these xmen intros are just chefs kiss my brother ypu are GOATED my friend
The broken continuity in these movies never bothered me But at least it was better than patching things up with retcons as it's seen all the time in the MCU
3C seeing thease reviews has actually made me remember how good thease movies were and how sometimes some moments weren't the best but your reviews always help me with how I look at movies and how they do the writing and continuity so thanks for putting this out man.
Just rewatched these movies because of this review and *thoroughly* enjoyed It!! I’d actually say Dark Phoenix is on par with the rest of the movies apart from DOTFP. First Class felt infinitely richer, but man the action & music score in DP is phenomenal. A couple plot holes here and there but as a straight action/lowkey horror movie, I loved it. …Apocalypse however 😬🤔😂
First Class was very very good… it was not a new timeline it was just a prequel… also, days of Future Past is unreal. at the end of that… they changed the timeline a bit. But not much to be confused about
Thank you so much for still making this video; please still make the Wolverine trilogy video. I think it's fine that this video came after Deadpool and Wolverine because Wolverine isn't in much of the prequels
Btw I also liked Dark Phoenix, totally agree on the hights and lows. I didn't feel the last Jean scene, her repenting and all wasn't completely earned...but the train scene was awesome! Upon rewatching, there's been much said about overusing Wolverine and all, but I actually love the fact all of them recognise Erik as the coolest character. No movie leaves him behind, without an arc or a grandious scene, and that's just the way X-men has to be. Because it's actually the story of those two frenemies, and a very interesting one at that
Loving the video so far but I just had to stop it and just say…what a transition 4:45 🤩🗿I literally said “WHOA” at the smooth transition, editor must be proud of himself 🗿🍷

As a blind and deaf person, watching Dark Phoenix is an absolute win.

Its strange, because he's got sole credit writing Days of Future Past. Not sure what happened afterwards with the 3rd and 4th prequels.
Hearing people rant about Darwin’s death will never get old.
It’s one of the very few things the marvel fandom agree on.
The fact that Cris called X-Men Apocalypse "Age of Apocalypse" throughout the whole video is sooooo hilarious.
