As a result of this storm, I guess Brits are seeing that we in the Caribbean do not live in mud huts and that our building codes are quite strict, because this storm was pale in comparison to what we experience on an annual basis.

i live in Croydon which is the first clip but it wasn't windy on my road, it was about 25mph winds and i live 10mins away from there. it seems it was worse in more open spaces.

On top of what has been said alread, you also have to keep in mind that the US gets tornadoes largely in the great plains - sparcely inhabited and hardly any large cities. In a city like London, where you have a lot of large structures and lanes, winds can be very vicious and unpredictable.

For some people, trecking off to work under any weather is absolutely necessary because employers still opened the workplaces and required you to attend work or if not it was an unauthorised absence. Just as I cannot understand why airlines just continue to operate their aircraft under such conditions, I will never understand either how workplaces were not told to close when in countries where they get things like hurricanes and have experience of these things and the danger they can pose they are willing to lose just another few more hours of their beloved economy until the danger passes--it's not like we were going to have to stay locked up for another year again just to let a storm pass. I like to believe it's just lack of experience and ignorance of the dangers these storms pose.

My argument is that I heard all the passengers went flying again as soon as they set foot on land. They never really landed at all did they? The plane landed,The people didn't!
