I have mine up & running - so far so good - the brooder setting wasn’t warm so I put it on the heater setting - just wanting to verify that it’s ok to put over puppy pads - my chicks were born 2 days ago - thanks & I love the channel

It’s a radiant heat, so I would think for temporary use it would be okay. -Yoda

    I like that vertical option

I didn't even realize it could be mounted on a wall with screws until we'd been using it for a couple of weeks.

This is cool. When thinking about the concept it makes perfect sense as a safer alternative by applying this older technology. I wonder if designing an oil filled system could be safer and possibly more efficient? What are your thoughts?

There is actually a propane powered brooder heater that is supposed to be extremely safe. It incorporates all the technology that make the new Buddy Heaters safe. A good solution for people that live off grid.

I just purchased one today and it seems to be good I only have one concern. My other hater I have in my other Chicken Coop you can adjust the thermostat and this one here I guess is obviously already preset and I can't figure out what temp it's actually preset too.

We are pretty sure that information is on the box. It may be on the paper work inside as well.

love this instead of heat bulbs, which I always have to baby sit with the kitchen chicks. Is it radiant heat on both sides? when it is used vertically I would put two legs on top to tie/anchor in case of wildness potential knock over. just a thought from a security Mom.

It is radiant on one side only. In fact when it is horizontal, the chicks will get on top of it and sit at times. It is very stable when vertical. Having to anchor it has not been an issue.

I turned mine on brooder and it heated up, actually got a little hot, 123 degrees. I put it up higher to keep from burning the chicks. Went back to check and it’s still has the button on brooder but it’s cold. My chicks are cold. It was 86 degrees in their bed. I turned it off and back on , it started heading up again and did the same thing. Does it not stay heated constantly or come back on when it’s lower than it should be in temp range? Thanks.

It’s one of those that you need to consider the heat outside. If the chicks complain “they will let you know” pull it out.

You set it on Brooder or Heater. Have had zero problems with it. Your comment sounds like you've never used the device.
