Less chrome means less time polishing it! The headlights are a nice touch with the bezel. I hope you both have a safe and happy Christmas, and look forward to more in 2025. Cheers! 🎄🥂
You're exactly right, "Chrome don't get you home" as they say.. and everybody loves wipe clean. Have a wonderful Christmas too and see you Frieday for the last upgrade.. D&Pxx
Go for it mate, it's always worth it on a Fatboy, a timeless bike, specially that model and possibly one of the best looking Harleys they've ever made!
Thanks Guy, that is the plan... can't always afford to keep them all, we have future projects to fund, but maybe we can make some room and shuffle other things about, as you're right, this is rather special now!
Perfect balance. Now elegant with accents, rather than too fell-in-to-a-chrome-accessory-bin looking gaudy, or too ratbike all blacked out. (Not that there's anything wrong with those lol, but just not always, with all bikes. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all! Best wishes for 2025 :)
Thank you, appreciate those kind words... it's all about the balance and I think, maybe, I've got it halfway right on this one! Have a great Christmas holidays yourself and thanks for all of your support...!
I had three Rockets, my last one was a Rocket X, unfortunately the finish quality on all of them was shocking, had pretty much everything powder coated in satin black, the end with Triumph came when I complained about the 18 month old factory custom paint job which was rusting, which in fairness it was being replaced under warranty, when I asked what would happen if the paintwork failed or rusted again they replied “if you look after it, it will be fine” got rid of other Triumphs apart from Rocket, that finally went lat year, for not a lot of money you could add LED headlights which are much better than the stock candles😉
I don't think Triumph are alone in that failing, in fact Harley Davidson have spectacularly poor paint, even to this day, with zero undercoat, just flaky finishes that rust up in a season around screw holes and mudguards!.... part of it's due to the environmental changes in paints and the chemicals factories can use, but that's a deeper debate, it's probably more about economics, good call on the powder coat and this route I've done here is a great secondary option to do the same!
Remember, gravity is a constant. But man has figured out how to overcome it with the law of lift. A lighter than air plane literally lifts off the ground when it gets enough wind is forced over the wings. Love your channel, bro x
Bike looks great, Del. Just enough bling on it. I gotta say this: That brushed metal look on those fidderent parts (except for the radiator shroud and seat pan) would have been my go to choice.... but it's not my bike! 🤣 Great job as always. 👍
Thanks mate, interesting stand point, and I have to agree with you, a brushed silver finish does look great, but unfortunately it doesn't work on steel or chrome, as once you breach the surface, it'll start to corrode immediately, so you have to spray clearcoat over it to seal it, which then goes shiny and loses the effect... so the only way it truly works well is on stainless steel... shame, as it would have been a great effect to experiment with!
I guarantee the original owner of the Rocket would never recognize her after this transformation. I'm not a fan of flat finishes but the satin finish you applied is perfect. Love the chrome/black combo on the headlights especially. Again Merry Christmas to you both. Enjoy the holiday. Let's hope for some 'Peace on Earth'. It seems to be in short supply of late. ❤👍👍
Thank you Rick, glad you approve... and such wise words well said... sometimes the whole world seems to be at odds, just need some peace and quiet... Take care and stay safe, enjoy your holidays, D&Px
The bezel rings are perfect. I don't recall if the horn cover was tattered/pitted. But I personally would have left it shiny 🤷♂️. Great results Folks. 🎄Merry Christmas,, time for a few Guinness 😂🍺. Cheers,, G.
Thanks Gabe... yes, unfortunately the horn cover emblem was pretty badly pitted, and as it's plastic, I couldn't really do much other than paint it... plus it was rather large, and obvious, on the front and I think just the headlight bezels and fasteners are plenty! Have a great Christmas too... another hour or so here and it'll be time for a Guinness too!
Hi Thomas, that was the XJR project that we're considering the hoses on... the Rocket III already has them as standard... thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
How you get so much work done in such a short video, props to whoever does your editing because all the important stuff is shown and no time is wasted. I was watching some of your older videos and I know you've been at the TH-cam thing for 10 plus years now, and your videos just get better and better. You truly are an inspiration Del, quality work and quality videos. Great Job!!
Thank you so much Herbie, you're too kind!... this New Year's Eve (which was out first ever video), will be 14yrs at this now... and what a rollercoaster ride it's been so far! I'm sure there are far more professional videos online, You Tube now has it's fair share of qualified film makers, but we do our best with what we have, we're never more grateful than now for the wonderful love and support of our audience... have a Merry Christmas mate, keep safe!
Really great work as usual Del, in your usual perfectionist way. Not my taste with all the black, I would have kept a lot more chrome on the bike but that is subjective I know. A happy and merry Christmas to you and Penny and lets hope we have a prosperous new year.
Thank you for your kind words mate. The problem with leaving the chrome alone was that most of it was pitted and corroded, so short of the massive expence of getting it replated, this was the only option... Merry Christmas too and stay safe.. D&Px
Not a bad job at all. I would prefer a little more chrome but the Rocket does look good. Happy Christmas to you and Penny, enjoy your festivities. Looking forward to seeing you complete this giant of a motorbike.
Thanks Andy, it is a giant of a bike for sure, even just sitting on it gives a feeling of being dwarfed by it.. Enjoy your Christmas too mate, take care and relax, time to take stock of a dificult year i think. All the best mate. D&Px
Greetings from California, and good job :) I'm glad to see that you removed the warning decal from the fuel tank. The first thing that I do when I buy a new bike is to remove all those ugly warning stickers. As the paint ages, the paint under the sticker will remain newer and the sticker will become brittle. It's just best to remove them right away. Anyway, keep up the good work :)
Good point well made, but there's a secondary opinion to that and that's factory stickers prove the un-molested integrity of a bike, proving it's never been restored or any patina covered up, you are right, that specially on satin finish paints, where they can't be polished, they will always leave a witness mark when you take them off... personally I agree with you, that they are normally nothing more than information messages, and once you know that information, you can take them off... but there is always the provenance consideration...
Yep, looks far better in a smooth tux than it ever did as Liberace's 'Sunday bling' bull-moose. Good job. Merry Chrimbo y'all - & go get y'knees in the breeze, or at least, failing that - pull 'em out the privet! : )xx
A Smooth Tux for the win for sure.. Cooler than a penguin carrying a fridge.. have a wonderful Christmas Sir.. and see you Friday for the final little upgrade..
Beautiful result Del, a very nice look indeed. A question, how do you adjust those headlights? Just curious, as on my old Kawasaki I just muscled it into a good place for me but my Harley has an adjustment screw like an auto.
Thank you for your kind words as always... and with the lights, there is adjustment on the main bracket at the back that they both bolt onto.. so as i didn't move it, i could just bolt them both back in place.. Take care and have a wonderful Christmas break, and see you Friday for the final little upgrade.. D&Pxx
@@howder1951 Go for it, there is nothing more satisfying than starting a new project, all the planning and posibilities.. Have fun with it and let us know how you get on.
What an absolutely brilliant project this has been. Can I ask, the satin paint you’ve used, it doesn’t flake off on the areas where you tighten up the bolts?
No it doesn't Patrick, as I explained in a previous video, the material is a soft, flexible stone chip paint, it acts like a plastic skin and whilst it will obviously create a 'witness mark' when you do up a bolt, it doesn't flake off.
Thats very apt, as we have some plans for the seat, not sure exactly qwhat yet, but certain;y got to do something with it, it's a huge plain area with lots of potential. The touring seat means drilling the mudguard, so looking at other options.
Thank mate.. not for the short period i have it on for.. it heats up in minutes. My place is wood lined and ventilated... But more on this later, i have a whole video on the shop heating coming up shortly.

Can I ask... Where did you come up with the idea of the birds... Don't get me wrong its nice... Just Curious. Also I hate Chrome... LOL The Risers, Handlebars and Mirrors need to be fixed as well =-P
The birdsong isn't and 'idea', they are just here outside the building in the trees and shrubbery, i record them now and again when it's quiet, just a nice peaceful sound.
Almost finished with the project, there is a plan to take the bike out for a final ride, as we do with all projects, so something to look forward to when the weather breaks!
Yeah , looks very smart, just the chrome bezel on headlights just perfect not to much in your face, and the rest just looks stunning in my opinion 😊 job definitely well done
Thank you so much Bill, you're very kind.. It's just practice coupled with not being able to afford taking it to the paint shop..lol! Merry Christmas mate.
Thanks Nick, that's a great tag for it... and I reckon it would have sold well, there was a similar version to this, but with two fat wide stripes right down the middle of the bike, I guess it's all subjective aye!
Yes exactly that mate, a bike like this can be washed down and dried away in 1/2hr, way better than hours polishing chrome! Thanks for your kind support... enjoy your Christmas!
A great job Del it looks classy - and very enjoyable viewing. Thanks for the last 12 months - I learn something from every one of your videos! Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year both of you and I look forward to the screen renovation project next year! Best wishes!

@Moonfleet41 I'm kinda hoping you keep this one, that type of power is fun, I have an old Harley with almost exactly the same HP and Torque, it's very satisfying.
@@johnjubie7144 You're absolutely right, it's pretty addictive... I would certainly love to keep it, but that's the dilemma, I can't keep the StreetBob if I hang on to this... one of them will have to go to fund the next project, just got to choose!

The birdsong isn't and 'idea', they are just here outside the building in the trees and shrubbery, i record them now and again when it's quiet, just a nice peaceful sound.
@@Moonfleet41 Its cool I like it... And I agree its a nice peaceful sound. I think its a great way to start and end your videos.
I would like to know how the ride is on the beast.
Thanks Andy, you're very kind, I think it was important to keep some chrome, but just the small details, not the large areas!
Lovely job..as usual. Very well done indeed
Thank you so much John 😀
Definitely the right choice there buddy
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you both aye🤘
Thanks Leigh, much appreciated mate, you have a fabulous Christmas too, D&Px
Wish I had the ability to and confidence you have Del👍
Thank you so much Bill, you're very kind.. It's just practice coupled with not being able to afford taking it to the paint shop..lol! Merry Christmas mate.
good job as always... personally i would had her stripped a bit
Nice!
Thank you.
You've created a new model Del. Triumph Rocket 3, Black Edition!!! Looks awesome mate. 😎👍🏍
Thanks Nick, that's a great tag for it... and I reckon it would have sold well, there was a similar version to this, but with two fat wide stripes right down the middle of the bike, I guess it's all subjective aye!
Got to be a winner less time cleaning more time riding, looking good now it's been sorted by you. Merry Christmas and all the best for the new year.
Yes exactly that mate, a bike like this can be washed down and dried away in 1/2hr, way better than hours polishing chrome! Thanks for your kind support... enjoy your Christmas!
WOW
It’s a WOW for me ,what a transformation !!

You nailed it!
Thank you John!
Great job Del, best wishes to you both from NZ, Happy Christmas and best wishes for the new year.
Thanks mate, best wishes too, really appreciate your kind support and it's good to hear from you!
Nice job on the Rocket fella. You two have a great Christmas and an even better New Year.
Thank you bruv, long time no see, but always thinking of you both, take care and stay safe and have a wonderful Christmas both of you!
