First off, that spray adhesive you used isnt very good. You need to go ahead and spend the money for 3m spray adhesive, the good stuff. That's a great idea! I rent my house and my living room ceiling is textured, so not a great candidate for the gorilla tape approach. I'm thinking about using a perf board of some type, or wire frame (chicken wire is pretty cheap) and then hooking them up with those screws that look like a hook + adding a nylon string (Google supermarket hanging signs and you'll see what I'm talking about)
@@bh_tannic2238 it came out realllly good. I had it swirl around and it looked like Appa's face from avatar lol. Had it up in my room in college and me and my 5 other roommates and it was the designated chill spot. It was super dope. It was pretty easy to do too. The only things I would do next time are to try to make it as reusable as possible and cover or move anything you don't want spray glue on because it got on EVERYTHING. Had a sticky keyboard for weeks. I'd also try using smart LEDs too if I decide to do it again
That’s exactly what I did. I tried the spray adhesive twice, it almost all fell down. So plan B: buy a staple gun ($10-15 on Amazon) and staple into the board (I used presentation board instead of poster board so it was thicker and wouldn’t go into the ceiling)
I thought exactly this would happen and had commented about it. But it looks beautiful until it lasts. It needs a lot of regular effort, work, time and energy to keep it. So, not for me but it really looks amazing. Loved it💖👍️
Hi Wes, just wanted to say I found both videos very helpful and I have started doing my daughters bedroom. Your details and links where very useful. I have liked and subscribed too 👍🏽. Again many thanks all the way fae Scotland 🏴🏴🏴.
I love what you've done. I will say, I think gorilla mounting tape may serve you better. I suggest buying a roll or two and just replacing the duct tape with the mounting adhesive as they fall.
I was thinking of using blue or black poster board to simulate either day or night. For night or black poster board you can space out christmas lights for stars
But great job brotha. Hope its still up. I have a few ideas of my own to build off this. Thinking black paneling with fiber optics for stars and a globe moon in the place of the normal light fixture
@@yoyohouse3567 i had to re install some of the paneling and am still workjng on it. If i had thought it out fully at first it wouldve been much easier but its actually not too much more work. Damn, these people can be real simple.. obviously these things shouldn't be left unattended.if you gotta ask then u probably shouldnt attempt these types of projects. Also no, it does not attract spiders... goddamn... just cuz the polyfil has a similar texture to spider webs doesnt mean spiders are gonna come make it their home. Infact spiders would most likely avoid such areas as a polyfil ceiling... no food, way too much lighting going and also the fact that they would also get stuck...
Could also try using sticky zip tie mounts (not sure if that’s exactly what they’re called) and then hole punch each corner of the poster board and ziptie it. Minimal damage if any to your ceiling and that poster board shouldn’t ever fall! Thanks for sharing with us!
@@daniielllll975 I tried hardcore tape on popcorn ceiling, it doesn’t work... so I bought presentation board (made of cardboard) and put two screws into the board (one on each side). The polyfil and lights are lightweight enough to where that’s all you need.
Hi, thanks for the support. I’m not sure how long the lights strips are as I don’t have the box anymore. I would say just standard. I think I also have them linked in the description.
Well what about the polyester dust itself when left open indoor for long time without any covering? What about long term exposure to this polyester fibers?

Nice I think you can use maybe the command double sided strip tape on the paper to ceiling, or the velcro double sided tape I would also just use led instead of Christmas lights, and a round globe for the center to be the sun, but it is a sweet idea
do you think putting industrial velcro on the ceiling would stick to the polyfil, maybe staple the led lights to that. im just wondering, because i want to do this.

Could I do this on that type of ceiling? And if so what do you suggest I do differently to not damage the ceiling tiles
I would suggest command strip to hold the poster board up. Command strips with the pull tabs. It’s a little more pricey, but those command strips come off clean and want leave any damage.
since you rent, take the ceiling tiles out, flip them over and attach the poster board to that side then reinstall the tiles with the poster board facing down. When you move out, flip the tiles back to the nice side :)
Hi Wes, thanks for the update. My wife was wanting to do this in our daughters bedroom, so I told her about your tutorial. She was thinking about trying to convert this onto her wall instead of the ceiling and create a sort of cloud scene. Do you think she could follow the same concept? I'm wondering if it will even work. What are your thoughts?
Hey, Wes. Its hard to get a perspective, particularly important since a few came down, but how many bags did you put there for your center of the room cloud?
Poly fil is non flammable but the actual adhesive spray is. So definitely don’t put Christmas lights, low voltage led strips are the way to go. The actual led strips don’t get hot at all the Christmas lights get very hot and can cause an accident you don’t want.
you should use double sided tape instead because when you have the tape in a circle the weight of the lights and the cotton will peel off but with double sided tape it lays flat and doesn't peel off as easy
Wouldn’t the heat from the lightbulb catch fire to the cotton? Let’s say you leave your light on for so long it heats up from how close the cotton is from the lightbulb would it catch fire? That’s my main worry if anyone can let me know please would be a great thanks!
