I know this is a late reply, but will help other users with the same issue. You need to have a supported GPU card in order to see this, I believe, hence why you don't see this tab. I don't have it either, as I don't have an optix capable GPU.
@@ProvVFX That is good to know. In my case I had a Denoiser tab but didn't see anything with OptiX. However in 2022 it seems the option was moved to Arnold Renderer tab, down in the section for Imagers
my render is can't be clear from noise. i'm after saving file to exr format and get the Output denoise AOV's colom but noise is not clear... are you have alternative or solution for it...?
The new 3dsMax 2021 has a totally new interface for AOVs. There is not even a clear way of indicating the "input" file for a render. Could you give an updated crash course on the new denoising techniques in 3DsMax 2021? It would be really helpful.
@@josem.elizardo9427 Hey there, sorry to bug you again but how is the new tutorial coming along? I am planning to start rendering this week and I cannot figure out this new workflow. Images still look like garbage:( Any help would be much appreciated.
I’m sorry but I couldn’t get to it this week. I’ve had other more pressing things to deliver. Once things slow down on my end I will be able to focus on making a new video. In the meantime I recommend watching this tutorial from my colleague: th-cam.com/video/rggVkUblWHw/w-d-xo.html
I definitely could also use an updated and more detailed tutorial on this Arnold Denoiser. It seems semi technical and I'm having issues. I am getting errors "Could not find variance for AOV RGBA and also Could Not find AOV with source RGBA. One forum post somebody is saying this is cause of GPU rendering, which I am currently using in Arnold. Trying that and now i'm not getting those errors and i'm getting files in my output folder but they are noisy!!! I keep bumping in to problems one after another with arnold rendering. One thing that is confusing is its the _Denoise file that is the input. Otherwise it doesn't work. In the end all 3 files (render, Noice, and Output) are nearly identical and all noisey (in photoshop). If anything the noice/output file is "flatter" looking than the original render. Any help is greatly appreciated. @@josem.elizardo9427
@@bernie_san7964 I think they just moved locations for the OptiX denoiser in 2022. In the Arnold Renderer tab try going down to Imagers section. that should let you add the denoiser even on GPU.
When i select my Apply on Beauty on the OptiX Denoiser, it doesnt do anything, infact it only shows part of the render as though the render hasnt finished. Plus it happens in like a few seconds. Do i need to render it normally then go back to the OPtiX then select apply then render? Plus which sampling were you tweaking when you said you changed sampling numbers etc
I straight up have no "Denoiser" tab...

@@PandaJerk007 I havent' tried the newer versions, but it's good they moved it there, it is buried in older version.

@@JaySamurai79 Sure thing! Denoising is definitely helpful for certain projects :)

Yes we introduced a brand new AOV manager that should streamline the process. I’ll work on an updated workflow video to show this.

How do I denoise per light AOVs. Have tried all possibilities including multi channel exrs but it doesn't work
Does this work on GPU rendering? Does not seem to be working
It is working for me on GPU. if you're still having the issue maybe I could help
If you're rendering GPU, there's no denoise support.
Seems like it is working for me with GPU. If you wanna compare Arnold settings I might be able to help a bit
@@PandaJerk007 Mine denoised when using CPU. So sure, i'd like to see those settings for the arnold renderer

Hi Jose, thought you couldn't get denoiser to work if you tone map your scene? How did you get it so bright? With a super bright HDRI??

Same to me , try vray next, the denoiser Optix run ok
Try installing the newest driver for your video card. Also, OptiX is by Nvidia and i think it doesn't work with AMD cards.
Ah I believe that OptiX Denoiser needs to have a Nvidia card because Optix is made by Nvidia.
