I am Japanese. I am happy that YAMAHA instruments are used overseas. I also own this TRB1004J. I liked the sound of YAMAHA, so I bought TRB1005,1006. I've been on stage with them for about 10 years.
At first, I thought Yamaha must be crap 'Isn't Yamaha a motorcycle company? ... Can Japs even make a guitar?'. Oh boy, what a mistake that was! Now I could buy Fender, but I'm checking out to buy a second Yamaha instead. Friends thought I might be crazy until they heard tone of my old RBX.

@@IgorOdaryukdo you have a video or example of you putting the battery in, and what it’s supposed to look like once it’s in. When it pops back out the light on the back flickers for a second, I’m assuming it’s supposed to stay on?

TRBシリーズの感想ですね。1004～1006の全てに言えることですが、木工精度が非常に高いです。ボディはポリウレタン塗装が滑らかで、ネックはサテン処理されていますが木の温かみとグリップ感を得ることができます。市販の量産型ベースでこの精度が出せるところがYAMAHAの特徴と言っていいと思います。
パッシブ切り替えスイッチはありませんが、本体に内蔵されたプリアンプのキャラクターは「オーバードライブを抜いたdarkglass」のような少し冷たいゴリゴリとしたものなので、アンサンブルで埋もれない点が気に入っています。
弱点は裏面のバッテリーボックスの蓋が脆いこと(私はESP製の回転金属蓋に3本全て交換しました)、24フレットとハムバッカーピックアップのレイアウトからネックエンドが狭く、スラップのサムアップがしづらいことの2つですかね…慣れれば問題ないと思います。
買って損はない楽器です。生産終了品&アニメの有名キャラクターが使用していたことから市場人気が高いので、購入するなら急いで楽器店へ行くことをおすすめします！

I’m having trouble getting the battery to stay/work, how did you get it to work?
I never had a problem with that. Maybe this model “eating” the battery more quickly than other basses
